Have the trainer in the family room already just waiting for it to come home. Looking forward to the first outside ride this year First road bike for me, did my first one with my wife's TREK Hybrid that was a little too small for me. My son actural has a nice Cannondale CAAD 8 that he got while in high school There's nothing sweeter than your first ride on a new bike - and after the winter we are having, it's gonna be stellar! I have a Madone too and I would love to see a picture of your new machine when you bring it home. Nothing like Bike porn! |

1007 DeLand, Florida | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Originally posted by Qua17 I got back on track this morning with a strong workout in the pool. When I dove in at 8 am (I was blessed with a second snow day), I was the only one. Within 15 minutes, three people had joined me - all seriously athletes. One had a Ironman 70.3 swim cap on... Damn - they were fast! I felt like I was sharing the pool with royalty. But swimming with great athletes/fellow triathletes really pushed me to raise the level on my game and I had the best swim I've had in months. Sure, it was only 500 yards - but it was a strong 500 yards. I'm gonna celebrate it later with Jack's Abby? John and other New Englanders - have you tried that stuff yet? Good work Dave! It's the same for me typically - most of the time I'm in the pool during the Masters' swim. I'm the one in the slow lane gasping for breath on the wall in the deep end, needing a break mid-50 or mid-100..... Tried a few of the Jack's Abby beers. The Hoponius Union is a nice hoppy lager. It still tastes like a lager underneath it all which I don't find as pleasant as ales, but the hops and body make up for quite a bit of it. The double IPL, Mass Rising is it? That's really good. And the Framinghammer aged Baltic Porter - wow that's good! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Originally posted by Snewo Originally posted by Qua17 David - Thanks for stepping up and doing the work in regards to the logo. I think it's a great start. I really like what you how you kept the nice clean look and I think the bottle is the best part. Could I propose two changes. First - Could you erase one of the A's? We used to be the Beer Drinking Appreciation and Accountability Society but we dropped the second A with this reiteration of the group. So, could you redo it so it just reads BDAS? Also - is there any way to add (I don't know what you would call them) but the pointy ends that stand in for the straight lines in the B and D? Alan - when he made it - had pointing things that suggested the lines. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense but I think we need something to make the B and D clearer to read. Thoughts? Like this? David - another big thank you for the work that you are doing on the BDAS logo! If you are willing to serve as our graphic designer - I think you should get a significant discount when you buy your jersey or maybe a free one if enough people order one. For me personally, while I like your second one - I'm a bigger fan of your first. I'm wondering if you can do 2 things - 1) I agree with Thor that the font doesn't quite fit. Could we try a different font - maybe one that's fatter and more substantial. I think the BDAS logo should be at least 1/3 bigger than the pictures below. Also, thanks for adding the "thingies" onto the B and the D but is there anyway for them to go vertically or up and down? Thanks for your help on this project. If we should ever meet - the first beer is on me.! |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Just a thought. If we are doing the bike jersey thing maybe someone could ask Ron if we can add in the BT logo since that's where this all happens. I don't think he'll have a problem but it would have to be approved since it's his logo. |

I love the feeling of a good swim. It's funny- the other day DH and I showed up to the pool and there was only one lane with an aqua jogger in it. So we only had 1/2 of a lane. We actually got in a pretty good workout doing just 25s so we didn't have to pass. 25s on :30 was hard at 8500 ft above sea level after a dozen or so. Funny how circumstance can push you harder than you planned. |

Can you add the foam coming out of the bottle like on the drawing? I really like that part! Is that PBR bottle?? Right now it looks like the bottle I had been thinking about for the whole run only to get home to find my husband had drank it while I was gone When will your divorce be final? Ha ha! I find him very accommodating about workouts- so that wins over stealing a beer or two. |

Veteran 371 Lincoln, Nebraska | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Originally posted by firebert On the beer front, two things. Transferred my Two Hearted clone to secondary yesterday (2ndary on 2/2) so I have a good feeling about that. Smelled awesome, which for a partially fermented beer is saying something. And, did anyone see the Budweiser Super Bowl commercial jabbng at craft beers? The one where they said 'you go enjoy your pumpkin peach ale'? It pissed me off a bit, but then today Northern Brewer released a kit for, kid you not, pumpkin peach ale. Peach of Resistance - 'No suds, no rice, no pretense - beer worth fussing over'. AWESOME!!! Hooray for beer!! I just kegged my German Hefewizen. It's pretty traditional recipe, and has Banana and Clove flavors going on. Hope it mellows a tad in the keg, as it should. That ad pissed a LOT of people off! Turns out AB-InBev actually just bought a craft brewery two weeks before the Super Bowl that brews a Pumpkin Peach Ale. The head of marketing called it a ridiculous made up beer, and was clueless of the beer they own and sell. Big corporate heads up their a$$3s moment for sure. LOL!!! |

Regular 866 Central Coast, CA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Just a quick check-in: Biking and swimming are my main activities for the next few weeks. As much as I want to run I need to re-hab this pesky plantiar fasciitis so I can really get back to running. On Sunday I went to a cardio-kickboxing class at the gym, figuring it would be fairly low impact and a fun way to keep moving. Unfortunately it aggravated my heel so I guess that's off the books as well. Good to see all the activity here, I'm just trying to keep up with everyone! Edited by MOlsen 2015-02-03 5:25 PM |

I'll scour the free font sites to see if I can find one I like better. I'll throw together a few new samples a little later tonight. As for others trying to put together a logo too, go for it. I'd like to get as many options out there so that everyone has a selection to choose from. I'm 2/6 on the week. I did 8 mi stationary biking today followed by a 4.5 mile run on the treadmill. I'm counting that brick as two, but the icing of my left knee is free! It's NBD, just being cautious. Edited by Snewo 2015-02-03 8:00 PM |

I thought I had plantar fascitis last year, but my podiatrist let me know I had an all together different problem. 20 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Forty hours of work in three nights, with a total of nine hours of sleep mixed in. Rugby practice Monday and Tuesday nights (I'm the coach), and then I get called in to work tonight. Get to work and have my Lieutenant tell me I'm not needed after all. Since I'm already well caffeinated, I decide to do the right thing and go to the gym for some core work and a run. I never go to the gym in the evening, and now I remember why. I thought the New Year's Resolution people would be done by now, but noooo. Everyone was there. Oh well. Worked the flabby-ish midsection for a while before finding an available treadmill and knocked out a 5K in 30 minutes. Factor the first 10 minutes at a gentle 12 min/mile pace, but finished the next 20 minutes at an 8:55 pace, I can live with that. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have dreamed of maintaining that pace for anywhere near that long. Now I am one tired puppy needing much sleep. But first a reward: a frosty Lugene Milk Chocolate Stout from O'Dell's. Yum. |

New user 42 Sumter, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Mid-week update: First, I'm already enjoying the activity and rhythm of this group! I'm definitely in the right place! This morning I punched out workouts 3 and 4 for the week with a swim and then a short recovery run. I swam 300 meters straight freestyle for the first time since I was 18 AND I didn't go anaerobic so I'm pretty pumped. I'm finally cleaning up my form enough to slow down my stroke without sinking and finding my breathing rhythm. I've got 4 more workouts scheduled this week and may try to get a bike in. Currently I'm only getting in the saddle when I feel good since I'm still in the final phase of a half-marathon build for an A race and I don't want to push my legs too hard. On the beer front I've got 1 more Dogfish Head Burton Baton in the fridge that I'm holding on to to reward myself after my 11 mile run Friday. Hope you all have a great Wednesday! Member 3145 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Ended up doing four workouts total yesterday. After work I was scheduled to play racquetball with a friend, but she got delayed by a long meeting. I was already at the gym, so instead of just standing around wasting time, I hopped on a rowing machine and then elliptical after my blisters got too bad from the rower (39/400). Slightly delayed racquetball was fun (we are both terrible, but we're having fun!) and it puts me at 10% of my annual goal (40/400)!! Feeling it this morning though--legs are dead. Scheduled swim later. Happy training! |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Open For Business Those logos look great! I love the last one with the guy falling over, haha, very funny. The one above it looks good though, I think we are getting closer! DQ, when you say they will "sponsor" us, would they give us shirts and we get the printing or would they do it all and add their logo on the back somewhere? I think all of these ideas sound great. I got my first swim in in awhile last night. It was short, just did about 1000m, but did fast 100s alternating with and without the pool buoy (trying to get my arm strength up). Went to a cycling class this morning, so that puts me at 3/7 for the week! I felt surprisingly good in both workouts considering my lack of activity the past couple weeks, so hopefully that continues! I hope everyone has a great hump day! |
