Hammering the Downhill??

Looking at Elevation Profile for Musselman got me thinking about how to handle the downhills?  Living on Long Island we don't have too many hills, so I was curious: do those of you who train/race on hills hammer the downhills, or do you coast and save your legs for the run?  One friend suggested to spin at very high cadence to work out any Lactic acid that may have developed in your quads.  Any thoughts?

Lay down and just roll on down

Speaking of hills, tomorrows bike is going to be interesting.. Where do I go??

" Ride on rolling course. Big chain ring. Most of ride time in heart rate zone2-3. Seated on most hills."

Hey Fellows...  12 weeks to IMcDA...  I am getting nervous, specially cuz I haven't spent too much time on the bike.   I decided this week is biking week....       Today I am planning a 1 1/2 hour trainer ride...

I signed up for another ultra yesterday..

Elevation gain 13,380 feet

Distance 50 Miler

Check out the course.    This is  the Mount diablo Endurance Run...   This was my first ultra last year and I had a horrible time.   I am going back to the mountain to take my pride back.

I have an ironman in 12 weeks and I am squeezing a crazy run in between... what am I thinking huh?

There was a Biking Challenge in March and teams that did not achieve 100% of their team goal are required to display a Peep Avatar for month of April.  As you can see, my team did not achieve 100% (99%).

Has our mentor abandoned us?? There have been several desperate cries for attention help, and he has yet to respond.

Hey all,

I'm back ...not for a good reason, but none the less I'm in full training mode. I am in the process of having a miscarriage now. So I'm back in the game and am going to try and really gear up for a Sprint Tri May 3rd to keep my mind off of the loss. The Tri is in the small community where I work and I'll just admit..I WANT to WIN! I dont' know if I can win especially because I haven't ran in awhile, but darn it I'm going to try.

Anyone up for looking at my training plan for the next month? I plan on looking through my plan over the weekend and making changes.

I thought it would be good for me to get focused again. I wasn't able to exercise for like the last 10 days and before then I was really being careful with my heartrate.

The good news is it is 60 here today and I rode outside today! Yippee! Plus..I have two healthy kids so the lost isn't as devasting for someone who doesn't already have a healthy family.

 Theresa

I'm not. I'm in.  Shannon and I have been struggling with the decision for a while. she didn't want to, i didn't. she volunteered at a 100 miler today and was inspired, and I was heartbroken at the thought of not doing it with her.....so screw all my other races.....i'm running the

Theresa - So sorry to hear about the miscarriage. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. About your training, I would suggest that you take advantage of the weather and increase your riding outside. Be careful about ramping up your running too fast, it's just too easy to get injured and  set you back a couple weeks. Since you haven't been running I would pass on the 50 min TT that is in your plan. I like the easy running but might throw 4 or 5 30 sec striders (hard, controlled sprints) in to change your pace and work on some speed, 3 to 5 minutes of easy running between to recover. Make sure you are getting a rest day or 2 in to let your body recover.

Group - I am sorry I have been a baaaaaaad mentor lately. It's been a little crazy around our house and I'm trying to get on track with my training. I am going nuts with the cold weather, I have yet to get my bike outside!! I will be a better mentor, I promise. GET OUT THERE AND TRAIN!!!!! There, was that better?

Trix - Glad to hear you made up your mind about western states, you are amazing!!! I don't know how you ultra peeps do it but I am in awe!!!
