sdalessio - 2009-10-15 10:56 AM Burrr, chilly, chilly - mid 40s and rainy here.  What is this Madison or something?

I did get my run in through the cold rain.  I have a feeling that Tony will be indoors today b/c he melts in the rain.  ;-)

Yes I will be running inside today.  Talked to coach yesterday and he agreed.  Try to do the workouts, if ankle hurts then stop.

8 miles today, there is a 1/9th mile track so 72 laps there lol or some time on the treadmill which I can't remember the last time I got on one.

Any thoughts about which would be easier on the ankle?  The track is pretty squishy.

Only caution I can think of with the track is the strain on the angle of running in a circle.  Maybe change directions half way through to change the angle.  Boy, wouldn't that screw everyone up to be running the wrong way on a track.

I hate it when people do that at the track, I guess they do it for the reson you described but very annoying to look up and have someone running straight at you.

I agree the treadmill will put less strain on the lower leg.  Especially for such a long run and small track.

Even though TM's totally suck.  I am so bored after 2 min.

My gym is installing pellet feeders and upside down water bottles on all treadmills...  They also are changing the carpeting in the cardio area to cedar shavings....

I am not looking forward to doing a 10 mile run on a treadmill on a cruise ship..

I seriously can't remember the last time I ran on a TM.  I never even go into the room with the machines at the gym.  I think they do have TV's though so maybe I can catch a good movie.

i've done it twice this year when it was the heat index was over 110.  second time was after the Y remodeled and added all new machines.  the treadmills all have tv's on em'.  i can't stand the tv.  if its on your really can't focus on it.  if its off you have this blank screen sitting in your face.

i say screw it and hit the couch with a few beers. ;-)

DOn't complain to much. I did 2 half marathon runs on a treadmill. Just hope they have glass windows so you can still enjoy the view. It's even less fun at the gym where the only thing to look at is yourself in the mirro. Although for me that is quite enjoyable r

I am in the minority. I do not mind the TM at all. I listen to music on my ipod and work on my form, what little there is. My plan is to run 5-6 time a week in the off-season as nothing helps me get my weight down as much as running and I have lost a LOT of run fitness on my olympic plan. I also plan on doing a lot of CT riding in the evenings after I put the kids to bed.

Right now it is in my office. I will move it to the Rec room over the garage so that I minimize bothering anyone. I also want to build an adjustible stand for my lap top so I can see the rider and the TV at the same time.

I am hoping for some gym eye-candy but where I work I doubt there will be much of that...

SSMinnow - 2009-10-14 4:31 PM Hey All....

Here is my taping and no comments about my foot! Basically the narrow tape goes around your outter foot and serves as the anchor point for the other two tapes to hold.  The second shot shows two-three clear strips that run vertical from the ball of your foot to the heel (this tape is stretchy and I pull it a little tighter).  Then I take 2-3 strips of the white tape and run it horizontal (not stretchy)  Neither are super tight, but they provide more stability when running and keep your foot in a neutral position when sleeping.  There are several taping techniques, but this is the one I found works best for me.  Questions?

One other thing, probably don't need three different tapes....but I like the stretchy tape for the vertical position to hold the plantar more firmly.

Heading to the gym now will try this.
