Hello everyone, Will here from Charleston, SC.  Yea I am psyched about the hills being from a coastal city, we only have one hill, the Ravenel Bridge.  Luckily when they rebuilt the bridge 4 years ago they put in a pedestrian lane.  Yaay..  Anyway I was wondering during the bike how often will there be watering stations?  Are they sporadic or is there some distance like every 5 miles or so?  Same for the run.   Just working on a stratagy etc...

Good News for you looking for a Kona Spot.  Louisville now has 64 age group slots and not the 50 it had last year.

HI again all! I totally lurk this thread even though I don't post often ... mainly because I haven't been following my training plan except for the last three weeks have been pretty good ... so it's not too late to get the ol' butt in gear.

Do they have sunblockers applying sunblock in T1 and T2?

Anyone else using the intermediate 20 week plan from this site? I am using it and really liking it so far. Today is day 18 of the plan and I can already feel serious gains in my endurance and overall fitness. If you are using this plan, or any other plan really, if your ultimate goal is IMKY do you taper at all for other races? I am doing IMFL 70.3 but want to stick to my IMKY plan as much as possible. Anyone know where I can go for a weekend to get some hill training? My area is pretty flat and after doing IMKY last year I know I need some hill workouts on the bike. Don't want to drive too far but I am willing to drive up to about 4-5 hours from Jacksonville, FL for a camping/cheap hotel weekend of hill riding.

Go down to Clermont FL and hook up with folks down there.......if you get to ride Sugarloaf and the Howey Hills a couple of times you will get a fine hill workout!

And yes, I do taper for anything over an Oly during my IM.....not nearly as long or a dramatically...but I do cut back the volume and ramp up the intensity right before races leading up to IM....

Missed the last two days of workouts.  Having a major case of the FI's.  Last week was a spotty week since I was sick... in fact, the last month has been pretty spotty.  I've been feeling great and hope that I'll be back on track with a full week next week.  First step, 3 hour brick tomorrow!  Hope everyone's training is going well.

On a sidenote... my company just recently landed some work in Kentucky and I will be down there a couple of times over the next 3 months.  My plan is to make my way to Louisville once or twice and get out on a ride.  Are folks still planning on being down there towards the end of June?  I'd like to hook up with some people while I'm down there instead of going out on my own.

Alright all... throw on some Journey (or whatever it is that pumps you up) and have a great weekend!

My training plan (Beginner IM) calls for 900 minutes of training this week... that's 15 hours my friend. With only one day-off... I'll need to do 3 hours series a couple of days. Does anyone follows these plans 'exactly'? I know that I'll be doing 15 hours in a sigle day in KY... but with a 'working' life undergoing... I see a bit challenging to meet these trainings... and I guess this is jus the beginning!

For me it is an 1.5 hours at 5:00 am and then another 1.5 when my 2 year old goes to bed (around 8:00ish).  I am not much of a morning person, so this has become my big challenge.  But so far (knock on wood), I have yet to miss a workout!

Did you guys have a hard time signing up for this race?  Did they have online registration or did it fill up on-site?  I am thinking I will drive out this year and volunteer then sign up for next year at the day after on-site registration.

Thx!

They did away with the onsite registration for this year's race.  The online entries were open for a few months though.  But, I am sure the group would love for you to still volunteer!

Volunteering at an IM is great!  I went to IMAZ to volunteer for gear bags and wound up volunteering the entire day....it was a blast!

Oh, really?  That's sweet!  It's like a 9 hr drive from MD but it sounds like volunteering would still be fun and I could get a nice preview of race day   Are you guys doing a pre-race meet up for BTers?

By all means volunteer. It's a great time. If you can- do one job in the morning (bodymarking, gear check-in) and work the finish line at night. You'll see all the people who have vomited on themselves, peed and pooped themselves, people who are delirous, dehydrated, people who need to be wheeled off to medical. And you know what, everyone of them is happy. Most of them would do it again. And it'll make you want to do it next year.
