Morning everyone - bike commuted to work this morning and it was so lovely! AND I have leftover pizza ready for lunch. NOMNOMNOM

TeeJay do you eat almonds/almond flour? I found a pizza crust recipe that is made with almond flour, a starch, eggs, almond milk, etc. I think it's paleo or at least grain free? I dunno but it's freaking delicious.

(hijacking from Teejay)... Hi Lisa!  From what you've written, it's not entirely paleo as no dairy is allowed with paleo though the rest of the ingredients would fit in the paleo diet, but it sure sounds grain free.

Sounds good!

almond milk isn't dairy!  i am not super sure about paleo but i imagine that almond flour/almond milk violate the non-processed part of paleo...we need teejay.

Oops - I missed the 'almond' part of the milk.  While almond milk isn't dairy, it's still not recommended on paleo. Neither is soy milk, rice milk, or any other variation.

So TAN, I am in a workout slump and a BAD one.  Ever since my surgery I have seem to lost all motivation, which is so not like me.  After my last doctor appt, I have been cleared to slowly go back but I keep doing NOTHING.

Like last night, yes I was tired but I could have swam, gone to yoga, done a arm workout, ran for 20 minutes at the lake front......but I choose to watch a movie.

I did not gain any weigh, and thinner than my normal self but weak and feeling like I may never go back??

HELP!!!!

What's your favorite workout? Whatever it is get your gear ready before you head out to work or to bed and promise yourself you'll at least do a little. You need the habit to kick back in.

I made this pizza (minus the cheese) when I was trying to solve my GI issues: http://frayedlaces.blogspot.com/2011/07/quinoa-crust-gluten-free-almond-pesto.html I think I might have even subbed the egg with ground flax/water.

I do best when I have a managable plan written down, where I can physically cross things off as they are completed. My half iron plan sits above my computer monitor... works for me whether it's 12 hours a week or something as simple as "20 min of cardio 4x per week"

I'm the same way - I need a fairly structured routine to stick to for an exercise routine to work for me.

Maybe sign yourself up for a weekly class?

That helps, too.

My motivation to get up for 5:30am masters practice is that I paid $50 for it for the month, I better get my butt out of bed and into the pool!

Yes, maybe I just sign up for a random short distance race to get myself back into the swing of at least having something to train for.

I seem so distacted by "boys" which makes me mad, cause I usually put my healthy stuff even before my kids cause i feel its that impotant to me Cry

Just starting to think I will never be at the level I once was.  I do better if I have someone who hold me accountable but not having athletic friends is a problem.

Bottom line is I think I just become kind of lazy and not missed the pressure of training and racing.

And I often think when I was in a marriage where I am not happy training was a healthy outlet to have and I don't need it as much as I once did.  Does that make sense?

Alrighty TAN - I'm out for now to go text Tony, jump into the shower, and then head off to Trader Joe's to get yet more groceries.

Have a good day everyone!

You have us! And on FB I have lots of pals that do crossfit and such and we keep each other motivated!

You are RIGHT, this statement alone gives me the soark!  It is still there and if I have to start out with a 4 minute run, I guess that is better than doing NOTHING!

Can I also mention I have been on TOP a lot this thread, maybe thats why I am so tired?

The best advice I heard from someone was to just start again. "Even 30 minute run is better than nothing."  I'm just getting out of my "funk" and back into training. Between the heat of summer, work, moving and doing some remodeling on a house, I let the training go. For me, just starting again was all I needed. I signed up for a marathon as motivation but it was really the getting back to running that brought me back to where I used to be. After the first long run, I remembered how much I enjoyed training and now look forward to waking up early again to go for a run/ride.

x2! I took a few weeks off in June and it was SOOOO hard to get back - I just wanted to lay on the couch - it must be 1 billion times worse for you Cheri

But I think it did help mentally when I got out even for a short walk or a short - SOMETHING. Didn't have to be big or long (heh) but just something I could put in my training log and SEE.

I should revive my training log.

Hi TAN.

I watched a movie(Hunger Games) last night all by myself and I liked it.  The last movie I watched was Oceans 11, so its been awhile.

That's kind of weird, I was watching hunger games last night too.

The books are fantastic.

I said "screw it" to training since last Weds and other than the guilt, I finally feel good this morning!  Not so tired.  Back to it today though.

It may be too late, but I still think I have JUST enough time to salvage my race.

You should. Cheri too (if you don't). We can all support and encourage each other If we can see what you're doing. I log all of my crazy workouts and I don't even swim bike or run!

I dont know if I'm so-motivated.

I did a 2-hour bike ride this morning.

Crap, forgot about that.  It's on the must watch list.

I know the DVD is out, but I'm waiting for Capt. America to come out on HBO.  (and Thor).  Wife needs to catch up so The Avengers makes a little more sense.

Capt. America and Thor are on netflix right now and real steel is on demand for showtime.
