grr, had a long post and now it's gone...

Thanks a lot for all the inspires, e-mail's and posts, they really mean a lot to me.

Unfortunately didn't have the day I had planned out.  Sam and I have been talking since the race was over and I can't quite figure out what happened other than I had a bad day.  No aches, pains, etc.  I feel great right now.  HR was pretty stable most of the time.  Only thing was my RPE was really high, if that makes any sense.  Just felt like I didn't have anything left to give at one point.

I had a few training runs like that when I wasn't feeling well, HR good but felt like I was running in Zone 4 when my watch showed Zone 2.

I just never got in a groove.  I kept waiting to get through the crowds and into open space but it never happened.  Was disspaointing when the 3:45 then the 4:00, then the 4:15 pace group passed me.

That was the most crowded course I have ever been on.  It was packed for 26.7 miles (not sure how I ran an extra 1/2 mile)  The spectators were packed also, I swear at one point there were 5-10 deep watching and cheering.

I am happy that I finished, was quite a bit harder than I expected and not having a good day makes me want to go back and do another one to see how I do on hopefully a good day.

Hey Tony

Crowded courses can  be extremely draining and make running seem harder than it is....I thought MCM was one of the tougher marathons to navigate.  Not quite as bad as Chicago, but close.  Should you decide to do another one, look for a smaller race and a better course profile.   How did you get that extra half mile?  Probably some GPS errors, but also some zig zagging on the course to avoid humans or get liquids.  Pretty easy to do in a 26.2m race.

Rest up, try to learn from it and sign up for another when it fits into the plan. Despite how you feel, you did great.

Tony - sounds like you gave 100%  - my limited math skills says there isn't more than that....  Like Suzy says, go run a less crowded race and see what happens...

I ran the 10 miler saturday. Finished in 1 hour 38 minutes and 17 seconds. I am happy with the result. The 1st 3.5 were done at about 6:30/mile. I took a port-a-potty break and kept going a about a 9 minute pace. After the turnaround I ate my one GU and kept going although I was down shifting periodically to keep my HR under 150. Met some really nice people on the run and it was a gorgeous place.

It rained on us as we began but stopped fairly soon, it was warm (81 F was the high) and humid. Everyone was soaked by the end You could tell the tri people by the race belts. The compression socks seemed to really help. A lot of runners seemed to be using the event as training for th OBX marathon or the City of Oaks marathon. My season is done now. I am going to rest a little and then start my off season training and weight loss program.  In the race pics I look more like a linebacker than a runner

Nice job Tony, like everyone says, 26.2 miles (26.7 in your case) is a long way to race.  The first one is the toughest...most people improve their time by a LOT on their second one (and it sounds like you are looking for the next one already) Great attitude and great job today.

Doug, awesome job out there.  What do you mean, your season is over?  What is this off season that everyone keeps talking about?     j/k, you did a ton of racing this summer, way to go.

John, I love that we could hear your voice and that silly giggle on the video, it's pretty cool matching a voice to you!

Too big, she needs an XS.  I ride a small

Good price though if you are in the market for a tri-bike and the size fits you.

Actually pretty good, my quads are a bit sore when walking down stairs, not much other than that.  I think it really helped to have so many miles under my belt, getting close to 1k for the year.

Does make me think that I can do the goofy challange next year at disney without injuring myelf permanately.

How are you feeling today?

Nice job Doug - congrats on a great season - take breath and then back to it   All that weight training has got your upper body all ripped up - watch out Arnold...
