BTW - I am pretty happy about the fact that there is a second line of page numbers at the bottom of the thread instead of it running continuously on one line and getting to be a huge window.  Somebody at BT HQ is earning that paycheck again.

Oooh, I just noticed that, great advancement in BT technology, woo-hoo!!!

Morning TAN -

Weekend somewhat sucked - bad weather.

A town here that is about between us and where SprintDA is except more to the north, was completeley and uttterly obliterated - I mean - nothing left. I was looking at pictures and they might as well just raize (sp?) the town and start fresh - if they even do that. We didn't lose a tree branch - but they are just destroyed. They said the tornado was between a half mile and a mile wide. Can you believe that? That is one large honkin' tornado!!!

Wow, I was in Southern Illinois for the weekend and didn't hear about that. It didn't look bad at all here when I got back. That's crazy.

Yeah - Town is/was called Parkersburg. Terrific school for athletics in this state (Aplington-Parkersburg) High School was flattened - nothing left. I heard that a bunch of the state championship teams went out to the school and tried to find the trophies. No sign of anything recognizeable.

After you mentioned the tornado I read about it in the news. Unbelievable devastation. Did it go N-NE from there, or did it get into the Cedar Falls-Waterloo area as well? They didn't mention where the storm went after it went through Parkersburg. Feel bad for the people in the town. Can't imagine having everything destroyed like that so unexpectedly.

The actual path of the storm was SSE - it threatened Benton county and then Linn County - but it lost a bunch of its power after it touched down there (which was more than enough).

Came that close to Linn County?  Wow.  Now that would have been some nasty devastation.  Mercy.  Thoughts going out to them.  Any fatalities?

The last number I heard was 6 with a possibility of 8.

There was plenty of warning too.  The people that were killed were in their basements, but the houses were so destroyed that the basements became convertibles and debris fell into the holes.

Not that any of it is funny, but our Governer is a democrat and one of our Senators is a very high profile republican (Chuck Grassley).  The Governer was having a news conference and called Senator Grassley "Representative Grassley".  I could actually see the Senators ears turning red.  He tried not to react, but you could see it.

Goodness.  That is terrible.

Coming from Tornado Alley (Grew up in OKC) I really don't get worried about them and sometimes I go out to try to see them (yes, I know, I'm crazy).  But the tragedy that those beasts leave behind is heart wrenching.  So sad.

Hey guys...

Jenn needs a little love this morning.  She was talking to me and the ceiling of her bedroom literally came crashing down.  She wasn't in there at the time, thankfully.

She posted some photos in her OMFG album.

Did anyone else notice that, as the recipient of inspires, you have the power to delete any that you feel are inappropriate?

That's cool.

Hey - did everyone see the "Official BT Triathlon for 2008" banner?

Who thinks that they will do this?  I don't have any interest in doing it unless I know that some of you all and other BT'ers will be there.  I have never been to Galveston.

WTF was that ceiling attached with? I don't see any rotten tiles, so it doesn't appear to be water damage. It looks like they just didn't build it right.

My pharmaceutical-grade meth has been doing wonders for my bike and run times.

And I can actually concentrate occasionally, too.

Ah, yeah, if you look closely at the bigger pics you can see water damage. There's a leak above and the drywall got too heavy for the fasteners.

I have a flat roof house and when I first bought it I didtn get the leaves out of the drains and had leak.....so there was some sagging for the past 4 years...waiting on someone to come fix it....not easy around here...have had people lined up 3 or more times they dont show or whatever.  I had even just told Cube I was gonna go lay back down still kinda lazy from the race and we started talking about something else and maybe 15 min later heard crash....so I would have been completely dead meat or hurt so damn bad i would rather be dead if it werent for Shaun!
