cottoneyes - 2010-03-12 2:38 AM 12 days in and 38 pages already???

Update from the East out this way.  As per previous post it was going to be a slow start to the month here, thankfully my beautiful daughter Delaney made a spectacular entrance last Thursday, and after a few days managed to start slowly getting back into some training.

Currently sitting at 16% with a big ride hopefully planned for tomorrow, and Sunday is my first race in just over a year.  Unfortunately is only a dash length (300 / 10 / 2) to support my mate who started tris to lose weight and has lost 15 kgs and lines up for his first race on Sunday.  Small race but I'm still cracking out the aero helmet, disk wheel and five spoke front wheel - gotta have the bling.

Let's go team, remember this is our month cause when we get to the end of March and win, we get rewarded with EASTer, not WESTer.Wink

Congrats on your new daughter!!

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-11 5:35 PM I talked the other day about feeling like an outsider with my tri club. I realized today I have a better connection with all of you, even though we've never met in real life. Thanks everyone for all the support.

We ARE a tri club! Laughing

Yeah, we are!  Posting on here definitely help keep me on track and excited about my training!

ebshot - 2010-03-12 6:41 AM Hey guys.  I took a rest day yesterday.  Not that I really needed it but I wanted it.   I'll hit the bike today but first up is date day with hubby.  He took the day off today since he is leaving on Sunday for a month.  We are off to a nice breakfast and then going to Newport, RI.  Looking forward to it.  Then tonight we are gonna take the kids to see Alice and Wonderland since Bry will miss both Liam and Alex's birthdays.  An early celebration if you will.  Gonna be a good day.

Oooh, nice!  Are you seeing Alice in 3D?  I saw it last weekend in 3D imax and it was really pretty   Then I saw a bunch of kids running around after wearing the Mad Hatter hat, so it looks like they really got into the movie.

Atlantia - 2010-03-11 7:01 PM Okay wow holy crap. I was just complaining about my job yesterday, and now today I got a letter from the county public safety department calling for a paper and pencil test. Precursor to the computer test, polygraph, and panel interview to become a 9-1-1 dispatcher. Suddenly very nervous. The letter says business casual, what is that? I have worked with animals so long all I have is scrubs, sweats and race tshirts. I'm off to shop now. I'm thinking nice pants and blouses, right? And I should get a few shirts since this is a multi-step process, right? I've done dozens of interviews at work, but I've never actually been on one.

Congrats, that's exciting!

Yeah, for business casual a nice pair of pants and blouse would do.  I like cardigans or a nice sweater too, depending on the weather.  Good luck!!

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-12 9:08 AM Good morning Enemy team - Congrats on the new triathlete!

Rest days are good guys - you should contemplate rest weekends or weeks as a matter of fact

If not, train well and have a solid day today.

BTW you guys were a great example for a talk I did about challenges and smack talking - I said it is fun but in the end we always want everyone to succeed so I hope you guys have a great training weekend!
You did a talk on smack talking?? Why don't I get to go to things like this? My days would be so much more interesting... Edited because I apparently can't spell. At all.

I got to talk to a group of ladies at our church about starting an exercise program and challenges was one to stay motivated.  They asked how we interact so I told them we have some good fun by teasing the other team but in the end we want everyone to be 100% successful!  They all got a kick out of it.

How can I not like you guys - I have been on a team with 90% of the people in the past and the others are from around my area and we have a lot in common (but you like the Bills and I don't )

I am easily amused... I giggled when I read that Bill doesn't like the Bills. Yes, I know you are talking about the football team, your local team in fact. Just the way I read it I thought it was funny.

Carry on.

I know Ann(e).  It was fun when I had my Bronco's stuff on - people would say this is Bill's country - yes you are right and I will like who I like since my name is Bill   They always got mad then

As a transplant I have to deal with being a Giants fan in Redskins territory. Thankfully, there are SO many transplants in this area that it's rarely a problem. At an Orioles vs Yankees game, the Yankees fans usually outnumber the Orioles fans.

I'm taking today off, too, but did my morning swim (but not at 6am!). Hmm, a bit tired for that. Think the 40 miles yesterday had anything to do with it?

We're supposed to be getting heavy rains with the potential for flooding today and tomorrow. I plan to take tomorrow as a rest day but hopefully can get a ride in on Sunday.

I've lived here my whole life and I'm a Phillies fan, not a problem in PA. I am also a Notre Dame football fan. That goes over well right smack dab in the middle of Penn State country.

I can totally see Yankee fans outnumbering Oriole fans. What do Baltimore fans have to cheer for?

After something like 12 straight losing seasons, not much. The analysts on the ESPN baseball site are saying that they are finally turning it around and have a decent shot at reaching a winning season this year or next.

Ann(e) - we need to discuss this and I am very very very very very disappointed in you.  I am fan of them - when they lose!!!!!!!!!

Bill - when you grow up having Penn State shoved down your throat you pick a team to cheer for that will annoy the Penn State fans. When I was a kid that was Notre Dame. I know they've had some off years but I still love them.

A winning season for them would be GREAT! But with the Yankees and the Red Sox in the same league a winning season is about all they can hope for.

We have gone to several games and love Camden Yards, but I'm not an Orioles fan. I actually like Interleage play so I can go to Baltimore to see the Phillies.

My favorite story of going to a Yankees game at Camden Yards:

I was promised two tickets from a friend's friend's season package, to be picked up at will call. My dad and I get there (wearing our best Yankees garb) and there are no tickets, but we are told to wait around because they might still show up. So we wait and wait, while trying to figure out if there are still tickets to buy, etc. As we are waiting, two guys approach us and ask if we want tickets. We're kinda cautious, thinking we are going to get scalped, but they tell us that we can have them, courtesy of Paul O'Neill. They don't want any money but say that we can buy them a beer when we get to the seats. Turns out the one guy went to high school with Paul O'Neill and he would leave tickets for him every time he was in town. They were excellent seats, just below the press box. As I recall, the Yankees won; don't remember how Paul did.

I agree with what this person posted who I am no longer acknowledging due to her college football team.  ND is the lowest of the low Ann(e) - you could have chosen Pitt/Ohio State/Michigan - but ND?????? Why oh Why!

Not a fan of Ohio State either. Could have been Michigan, but not now. Not a fan of Rich Rodriguez.

I could cheer for Pitt. I have a friend who played football there. That was one of the colleges I applied to. I went to visit the campus and saw someone mugged across the street. I took them off my list of schools then.

I really should have had napping as one of my goals.  I as so tired this week.  I haven't slept well at all!  I think it's cause Bry keeps snoring up a storm.  Good thing is that he's leaving on Sunday for a month.  Maybe I can sleep!  (hmmm, I think that came out wrong, I'm not entirely happy he's leaving but I'm exhausted!)

Well, I have made a very important race schedule decision today.  I am not doing a HIM this year.  I do not think I have the time to train for it properly and I am not going to have a repeat of last year's suffer fest.  I need to wait until my kids are older and schedules have stabilized.  My original plan was to train while the kids were at school.  However, Cole has three appointments next week and will be missing a bunch of school and there goes three of my training days.  It looks like he'll start to have two days a week of therapy starting up soon too.  So, it's time to focus on going short and having fun.  The longer distances will be there for me when I am ready for it.
