I tried to be up early but had two late nights ( bed after 1am) and one hard bike workout last night.  In my case I don't feel bad about it because I need sleep more then my workout.  I'll just re-arrange my schedule for rest of week, have early sessions tomorrow, Thursday and Friday.

Done!  Up at 5:30 and out the door at 6 for a 4 mile run.  It feels great to have it out of the way so that I am not trying to work it in all morning.

Thanks all for the motivation!

As far as the skivies go, I opt for running shorts with the built in liner for warm runs, and use an under armour jock strap for runs with tights.  The under armour material is soft and l have had no chafing issues.

kkcbelle - 2011-01-03 9:52 PM Sooooo excited to check up on the early birds tomorrow!!! Go and get your worms!!!!!!!!! I get to sleep in tomorrow (my run is too long to do before the kids go to school, cuz I am not as devoted as Linda/Terps), but I'll be up with you guys on Wednesday and Thursday, OK!?

So MEN!!!!!!!!!!

Chafing is something my husband has issues with, and I know he's not alone. I think he's found the skivs that work OK for him for running most of the time (Hawaii always throws him a big-ole curve ball, though!)... but still... I'm reading my latest Runner's World and there is an article for you dudes:

Brief Encounter, The Skinny on Running Skivvies (p. 81). Can't find it online, sadly (anyone?). They do some review for the ladies as well... Personally I ain't ponying up $16-$20 for workout undies. Yes, I do run in undies (don't bike in them, obv), but my basic everyday skivs do the job for me (and no, men, I don't run in my HankyPank thongs, although I have a girlfriend who does -- LOL!).

Hey Kyla, I think you confused some of the other boys in the group as to what your question is.
I think I know what you are asking.
You are wanting us to post pics of us in our underwear. Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera to work today, but I will give you a bit of a hint of what I'm bring to the table.

Out the door at 5:00 got in my swim - not as long as planned, but got in some work though.  I can tell it has been months since I swam last.  Speed was still there, but going to have to work up the endurance again.

Last night was my first night of my ski race (adult team racing) season (two wins for me, woot!). ATR always goes late so I wan't in bed until after 11 pm.  Knowing you guys are here, I got right out of bed without a second thought when the alarm went off at 5:15am.   It's going to be a two cups of coffee kind of day.

not sure what you're asking either.  here's my rec and you know the problems i had w/ chaffing.  the nike guys in vegas said they can't keep theirs in stock because of demand.  both are super comfortable and no more chaffing issues, but the nike has the back zipper pocket  so it wins hands down.  the other day i dropped my car key out of the asics, luckily it hit my foot on the way down alerting me that it was loose on the trail.

Nike

Asics

Those Nike's look awesome...  may have to get a pair to try them out...

Congrats on the ski races!!!!  That must feel awesome.

Speaking of coffee, I got my first french press for Christmas this year and have been using it exclusively since then.  I can't believe how rich and amazing it tastes, compared to my coffee maker!  And I thought it was really good with the coffee maker!  I am a Peet's girl.  Major Dickason's Blend.  I don't get to drink it til after I do my workout...incentive to get out with Ripley for her walk and then do my run when the sun comes out in about 30 minutes.

Love french press coffee!  This reminds me I need to add one to my wish list.  MH broke our last one a couple months ago.

Suzy- are you serious about those being comfy?  It's not the thong part which worries me but overly lacey stuff tends to itch/tickle me too much to be standard wardrobe. Although maybe that's the point. :P

We got a Tassimo year before last and it gets plenty of work.  I love the fact that it will do coffee, latte, espresso, cafe au lait,  hot chocolate, hot tea, chai latte, etc...

gdctex - 2011-01-03 8:36 PM Did my first swim workout of the year tonight....1800M.  The longest workout since last fall.  But, I feel really slow and heavy in the water....well slower and heavier than I usually do.

I have not touched my bike since October since I am focused on running these days.  Maybe this weekend.....

Just remember not to be totally deflated when you get back on that bike.  I took three weeks off last year to go to Mexico and then Hawaii and it was a rude awakening.  My FTP loss was not insignifcant despite running some while away.  You had a reason to do a running focused plan so just remind yourself of that when you're ready to cry uncle on the bike.

Thanks Suzy. Given how slow I have been feeling with the swim.  I figured the bike will be like that too.

Hey Twin--if I were doing some of the super speedwork you were, I would not eat breakfast.  For everything else it's a piece of toast or some steel cut oats.  Lots of people say you will burn fat without breakfast, but since you don't have a problem let the fuel make your workouts better.  I do get up earlier to eat, but for me it's worth it.

OK gang I am an optimist, glass half full kind of gal but I am not a happy camper this morning.

Tony keeps getting injured and sick so he is trying to race this weekend w/o injuring himself further.  My foot keeps irritating me and I'm beginning to wonder as much as I love my minimalist shoes if they may not be the best for lots and lots of running.  My training plan and motivation have gone to hell in a hand basket over the past month.  At this rate, I'll be lucky to break 4 hrs. at Shamrock.  And now the air compressor unit in Tony's car is on the verge of blowing a gasket (literally) and the repair is $1300.  So that will be fun to figure out sandwiched in b/t Christmas spending and our vacation.  Yes, I have my health, my job and my family and I am eternally grateful but geez I hate it when life gives you a little kick in the pants just to remind you who's boss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok - rant over.  Feeling slightly better.  Although this has been a three rant morning so far.  UGH!  Yell Cry Frown

I did Yoga late last night. Man that is tough! How come the people in the video do not sweat?! At least one wiped her nose once!

Ran 3.53 miles this AM (7:10 AM) and it was tough as my knees were tired from the bike ride two nights ago. At least the achillies seemed to hold up. I have swimming at lunch today.

What is with all the coffee talk? I will be 50 in March and I have never had a sip of coffee! My parents had/have 7 coffee makers and I do not even like the smell of coffee!

Fatty: the lkink to the Nike shorts does not show any shorts.

Agree on the lace thong - VS has one that's really comfy too.  However, biking and running are commando, as is, I guess, swimming.

Which I  need to go do, now, as my pepsi is drained and the Dayquil has been consumed....

coffee......blech.
