Wasn't somebody supposed to post something about mental training ... oh, and an index ... who's leading this outfit, anyway? Oughtta be fired!

So glad you guys got some lovely training in ...

I am pretty sure we left you in charge of that Yanti!!!

And whose brilliant idea was THAT?! Oh wait ... guilty as charged ... AGAIN ...

you must respect the girl who likes T.I.T.S. and chocolate cake....but that is only one mans opinion.
Is there any WHIP cream with this??

A word to the wise: never use dairy products. Non-dairy whipped topping only. Trust me on this.

With my big T.I.T.S. today, I was actually hoping for some of BETH'S ENCHILADAS (ahem!!!!) I did make it to the Spinning(R) seminar--by accident. I was supposed to close up the building, but got there an hour early, so I wound up doing their final ride with them.

I am hoping for cake tonight, but we'll see what happens.

I had to jump in to say *Renee*! You are kicking some serious butt with the training! You had a great monster run and swim in the past couple days and I am so impressed. Everyone should check out her logs and congratulate her! Of course, you're all doing so great. You guys are doing wonders for my motivation -- I've been flagging the past week or so, but I stroll through our thread and you all make me want to get out there again.

I've had a so-so training weekend so far. On the down: My shoulder hurts again, even though I very deliberately kept my Friday night swim short and easy. This sucks a lot. On the up: I had a fantastic run tonight despite the fact that I wasn't feeling 100 percent. Leslie, you were so right -- sometimes it's surprising what happens when we just get out there and do it anyway!

All told, it hasn't been my best week -- I skipped one planned workout in each discipline. But since I haven't been feeling well, I'm trying not to be too hard on myself.

And now, time for bed. I finally figured out that I can get online at home via dialup (dialup! I'd forgotten all about it!), so hopefully I'll be around a little more often now.

Fielding - 2008-01-20 2:12 AM I finally figured out that I can get online at home via dialup (dialup! I'd forgotten all about it!), so hopefully I'll be around a little more often now.

Dialup? They still make that?  Just kidding....it will be nice to see you on here more often!!  I was telling my 5-year-old about technology, and how I didn't have a computer until after college, or a cell phone until I was in my 30s...and when I grew up we had a dial phone and a party line.  I think most of that went over his head but he thought it was interesting.

I am taking a rest day today, as at 1 am I awoke with a terrible sore throat and now my head is all stuffy, and my lungs....I am not avoiding the crud like I had hoped.  I am going to work on being mellow today and see if I can't kick it out pretty fast!!  I had a good week of training so I am not worrying about it.  I might sneak to the gym for a steam, though!

Great job this week, everybody. I had time to peruse all of your logs yesterday, and it was fun to see all the hard work, as Erin said!  Keep on moving!!!

I get to go to a Tri Club meeting that a bunch of people from the running store here started. It is a free club that just do organized runs and bikes together. Swim is on your own. The Club is FREE so going to see what it is all about. They call themselves Bin Tri'n. There is 8 or 9 of them training for IM Canada and others for HIM I am not sure if I am the only one doing sprints and maybe an Oly but it should be good to train with a group.

Hey everyone!

Hope you all had a nice weekend.  I got some good workouts in today and am REALLY looking forward to my REST DAY tomorrow!  Most of last year - I didn't take a rest day from my workouts, I sure appreciate them now!

Erin - AWESOME run yesterday . . . and that's with NOT feeling so well?!  WOW!!!  Hey, thanks for the compliment *blush* . . . Glad to see you are able to get on here now on the weekends!

Leslie - Dang, sorry to hear you aren't feeling well . . . hope you are getting lots of rest today and kick whatever it is FAST!

Shawn - Was the tri meeting today?  You'll have to let us know how it went!  It sounds like a great opportunity!

Yes it was today and it was good to meet everyone. They were ordering team clothes. It was cool. I have orderd cycling shorts, a tri top, cycling jersey and the best deal of all two running shirts and a biking Jacket and those 3 things are only like 65 bucks. The others are probably 65 each

How cool! Team clothes *and* cheap! I think it's so great you're hooking up with a tri team, Shawn. I'd love to do that, but the ones I've found so far don't have meeting times that fit into my schedule. Plus, I admit, I'm still a little intimidated. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it from you.

It looks like I finally got my cold, which is actually a good thing because I no longer feel rundown and exhausted, just a little sniffly. Yay!

Yes I am hoping to ride with them soon. I do run with them well at the same time they are in a faster pace group but from the same places and times. They just seem to get to the coffee shop a lot faster then I do.

Hey guys......I"m back!    Dissertation is turned in (I'm waiting for revisions) and the semester is underway.

I'm going to try to catch uip later today.  I have a full-fledged sinus infection.  I'm going to go to the dr. tomorrow and get some meds before I feel even worse.

Guys! Our thread slipped to the second page! That is not cool.

Laura, glad to see your name in here again, but that sucks a lot about the sinus infection. And this was supposed to be your time to kick back after the dissertation!

What's on everyone's training schedule today? I've got a 48-minute run (this training plan is so weird with the strange times). I'm hoping to do it outside, but it's been raining off and on all day so I might be stuck with the treadmill.

I am feeling subpar, but it's so nice out that if I can I may run.  If it gets dark before childcare (hubby) arrives I may attend a spin class.  I don't know. I might just take one more day to get myself energized while the goo is in my lungs and go to bed.

Is it possible to get sick from the internet?  It seems we are all passing around a similar bug!!

I am having a rest day today after all, couldn't get moving and it's already below freezing outside--prolly not good for the lungs!  Instead I will enjoy the amazing pork tenderloin with red potatoes, yams and carrots that will be done in a few minutes.  I am a housewife after all.    Especially after eating only smoothies all day.  I will have my usual hillbilly tea after dinner to continue kicking the cold's butt, and probably also do my famous sock treatment.  I sound like a nut but I do have all these great home remedies that work!

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening.  It has been gorgeous here today, clear and cold and there's a full moon out there, so pretty!!

Laura! Glad to see you back and a giant congratulations on the incredible work on your dissertation. If you can survive quaternary education through the Ph.D., I honestly think you should seriously consider taking up marathons and long-course triathlon for their ease and comfort. I'm really only half-kidding here.

But what's up with the sickness? I thought I put an end to that! I sure hope your sinus infection clears up, too, and all the residual snotty Manatees get better . I've still got the teeniest bit of congestion and cough left, but I should think 100% better by the end of the week. The neck/shoulder is slower going, but so much of it got better so quickly that, as you can see from my logs, it's not exactly holding me back.

But I've had a heck of a weekend, so, like the rest of you, it's easy going today and maybe even tomorrow. I've been off my HIM training plan while rehabbing, but I think it's actually a pulled-back, bike-focused week ANYWAY--which is what I'm planning on doing.

You all are fantastic troopers. Congratulations on taking it easy but still getting out there when you can, pulling for each other through our illnesses, and the stellar teamwork. THANK YOU!!!!!

I am feeling 100% better today.  My lungs are clear!  Strange, but true.  I know it's the hillbilly remedies!  So I will be running for a half hour at some point.  My husband is going to be home sick today again, so probably while the kid is napping I will get out there.  Clear and lovely again today.
