Awesome job, John, that is really fast!  You just barely missed the podium   Now if they inked the age onto the calves at running events, you could have run that guy down!

Hey there John, take it easy.  Us Boston fans are the most loyal in sports (Lynn, MA, thank you very much).  It's good to see Gay Rod up to his old self.

i knew there was something wrong with you.  but i guess you have to be loyal for sticking around for so many losing seasons?  that's cool though.  keep up the good work and sometime in the next 200 years you'll have as many rings as us. ok.  not really. that would be 26 soon to be 27.

afraud isn't to high on many real fans lists.  jonny pesky and ted are two of the games all time greats.   my grandfather flew with ted in korea.  two tough a$$ marines!

shamefully, jacks first game was here.  at least they were kind enough to serenade him "fenway virgin" chant.  it was very cool.

count me in too.

Name: Kevin

Story:  I live in just outside of Chicago in Naperville.  I've been a cyclist for about 20 years, and an on and off again runner.  I'm on with running now and would like to give tri's a shot.  I've raced mountain bikes and cyclocross in the past.  I'm also Type 1 diabetic.  My goal for 2010 is a lofty one, but I'd like to do the Steelhead 70.3  The idea is to show others (and myself) that you don't have to be limited by this disease.

Family status: Married and have a 3 year old boy.

Current training: Focus has been running lately, with some cycling.  I will probably race the state cyclocross championships in December for fun.

Weightloss: I'd like to lose 5 to 10 lbs.

I see how it is.........deep down inside everyone wants to be Red Sox fan .  Nice pic, but would be just a little better with a Red Sox hat on Jack!  I might just have to send him one.

Hey Kevin

Are you joining the group?  If so, WELCOME!!!  I am in Madison so we are practically neighbors.  I am new to triathlon, been doing them for two years after spending 6 years long distance running.  Did my first HIM this summer.

You will find we are a friendly and very lively group!

Check out our pumpkin.  Some people might call it a tangello!  That Paul is a funny guy.  The good news is we give out really good candy and a lot of it to each kid...come on over, costumes required!

Very cute!  We have lots of Eyeball Chocolates out here...no costumes required, we want to give it all away so it is not here tempting us from now until Thanksgiving!   Have a safe holiday everyone.

Happy Halloween everyone.  We survived here and I haven't hit the candy bowl too bad.  My rule is to buy candy that I don't like for giving out at the house.  Kids had a great time.  I hope everyone else enjoyed the day/night.

John that is super fast.  There is no way I can top that but I'll give the race my best shot.  I hope to at least finally crack 25 min.  So I'll report back tomorrow AM when I get home.

Welcome to the group... We are always open.... Just to give you a heads up the new Mentor Groups start in December, BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER.... Stay with us now, then when December hits, we just move sections... Not a big deal at ALL..... I think if we were to dig in a little Ron may tell us that this is the BIGGEST/Continous thread in the history of BT!  I wonder if we have made a name for ourselves on the BT website!?  Do think you people say... Have you seen how many pages those crazy "hard working," podium taking foolio's have!???  They are insane!!!!!

I guess it gives me time to work out more before I head to the Packer Game. I'm already tired and have a Snicker bar hangover...and no Steve that is not some fancy adult beverage

Make it a good day!

What a crappy rainy weekend here...

Sam did run her 5k, lol don't think she looked at the course profile before making a bet....

I was going to go on a long ride today but doesn't look like thats happenin.

I think we are going to take the kids somewhere (maybe drop them off....)  They got out last night to trick or treat but that's about it.  Cooped up for 2 days with lots of candy...

Hope everyones having a drier weekend than us : )

It is a beautiful day here is sunny Alabama.  Low 70s and not a cloud in the sky.  I have got to get some motivation, and today looks to be as good as any to get started.  Didn't do much last week, because I did an 8.5 run and pulled my calf muscle a bit, so I used that as an excuse to be lazy.

Getting time for me to get re-focused and start getting some work done.  Lots of running needs to get done, plus mix in a little of Jorge's cycling plan.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hi group,

I had a great race this morning even between the raindrops.  However, like Tony said I did not know the course and it was super, super hilly.  But I really attacked and was on track to break 25 min. after the first 2 miles.  I just couldn't quite hold on for another mile at that pace.  Even so I finished at 25:46 / 8:19 pace.  I finished 2nd AG, 6th overall female and 15th overall.  Ok the race was youth focused so there were lots of kids and their parents but in my defense the overall female winner was a 10 yr. old.  She ran a 6:55 pace - HOLY COW!!!!!

I feel ready for OBX - I just hope that I wake up feeling ready to run!

So congrats John!

Great job Sam!  Lets carry it over to next weekend.  I think you'll have a good shot even if you walk half of it.  I got a text from a buddy in Arlington this morning bent because the start of a race over at Potomac River Running was right in front of his condo.  The air horn and all the cowbells.  I think it was an 8k but was hoping it was your 5k.

Any watch NY.  How cool was Meb wearing a USA singlet.  And when he pointed to it and then the crowd when coming to the finish...AWESOME!!!

Funny too watching the Packers game and knowing Suzy is there.

Seems we're having Alabama weather here in TX.

Well, I am back from the game and what can I say? We stunk it up in the first half, recovered in the 3Q only to choke once again.....the weather was terrific, our friends were fun so all was not lost.  Weird seeing Brett in another uniform.

Seeing a Packer game at Lambeau is on my list of things to do.  My dad went last year (he lives in Minnesota)  and he said it was pretty cool.

How was everyones October?  Already started back on a more balanced month.  Rode last night, swimming today, running tomorrow, woo hoo!

Bike:
1h 38m  - 26.5 Mi
Run:22h 44m 22s  - 135.45 Mi
Swim:51m 52s  - 2500 M

Also, 2 full months to go to the end of the year, anyone coming up on milestones?
I just need 74 miles to get to 1000 running for the year.

Funny, already 500miles more biked, 600 more run, & 30k swam over last year.

here you go Rob.   http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

i had a decent month.  wanted a little more on the bike but it is what it is.

milestones.  lol.  this whole year has been nothing but a milestone.  i just realized i crossed 1500 miles on the bike.  and i have a good shot at 700 miles running.  swimming,  hahahahaha.  i never dreamed i'd swim this much.

i can't say this enough.  THANKS GUYS!!!

edit.  one thing to.  my swim numbers seem low because of the workouts.  lots of 4 x 300 above sprint pace.  less is more type deal.

October's totals:
Bike:10h 35m 47s  - 186.36 Mi
Run:12h 30m 19s  - 78.48 Mi
Swim:2h 05m  - 11000 Yd
