First crisis.  Son has the flu with a cough (yes, more than likely swine).  May not be able to fly, was a family vacation.  Any thoughts?  Anyone race with the flu before?  Incubation puts me at Friday night

cbarnes1 - 2009-11-02 11:10 AM Iron Race week!!!!!  Go Linda!  Go Tracy!  All my eggs have been in this basket all year and it is now 5 days away.  6 year old woke up sick today, hoping to not be sick Saturday.  Travel tomorrow, packing now.  Can anyone tell me what I am missing?  I have a vision of a cold beer sitting next to a finishers medal for Saturday night.  Hope you all can join me.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend!

A beer?  On Saturday night?  Yeah, I think I can do that

My first thought was Silverman but I see it closed yesterday.  I've never raced with the flu so I don't know about that.  Damn Chet.

You don't have the flu, right?  Doesn't mean you will get it.  Just ask Barry.  His whole family was sick and he avoided it.  Based on the only person I know that had H1N1, I don't racing woudl be possible or a good idea.

Are you thinking if your whole family cannot go you will have to cancel?  That would be a bummer.  Any chance of a hall pass?

My SIL is a nurse, seems that the H1N1 is mainly an under 30 thing.  Seems as if the older folks still have immunities from the last outbreak back in '77.  Your health will probably be fine.  Travelling with a sick family may not be a good idea though...  That will require some negotiations I am sure...

Good news, I think.  It is Strep, not the flu.  With treatment, got the ok and doctor's note to fly.  Crisis avoided.  We will take good care of him at my Brother-in law's place in NC.  I am usually not such a stress case.

So I will calm my panic.  I feel fine, just no way not to be exposed with my son.  He is a very affectionate kid.  Thanks for the support, apparently I need it right now

Suzy- I am going no matter what, by myself, with flu, strep, rain, cold, wind, meteor etc...  It would be nice to have a good day though.

John - Fun swim yes!  Flat bike yes! yes!  High of 69, yes! yes! yes!

Whew Chet, good to hear.

Funny how you can train for months and nothing comes up then 2 weeks before and less stuff starts to happen.

Good luck everyone racing this weekend.  I will be drinking while thinking about all of you : )

I'll try and get a pic of Sam racing and post it up from my phone on Sunday : )

I take it you are not running the half then...  Drinking and running can lead to upset tummy...

So I am thinking of a fund raiser for my TNT - a teaching session by a chef friend of mine on how to make good for you food for on the go people.  I get so sick of the same old stuff when I am eating healthy...  It would be a watch, eat, and go home with the recipes type of thing with some wine provided...about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.  What do you all think?  Would it go?  Price per person around $50 or $60...

hmm..  so they opened registration for the NYC triathlon on Nov 1st at 12am and it sold out in 7 min..  How is that possible?  I was one of those people that kept on trying to log on to the site and it kept on saying it was busy..  Now I'm going to have to go through a charity (not bad i guess) but it's so expensive as is..  Anyway just wanted to vent..

I am calling October an off month.  Obviously NO biking or swimming.  November will look a little different especially on the running front.

ugh, charity for an already expensive event, sorry about that.

great idea.  it will work.  one suggestion, try to keep ingredients to common or fairly common items.  don't go bobby flay and make shrimp creole out of alaskan one eyed underwater four legged prawns.  keep it real and interesting.   and maybe a few meals where the little chef's can be involved in the prep to.

Agree, keep it simple - chicken, tilipia, pork roast, sandwiches, rice, sweet potatoes, etc...  Maybe some interesting condiments to add the flair...

Andy... A thought for a fund raiser that I have put together here in AL and am currently doing to help my step son go on a mission trip.  We went out to local restaurants and entertainment establishments (which are needing business right now) and asked them to agree to do a buy one get one free entree or whatever.  There are 20 on the card.  Organizations can sell the card for $20 and they keep half and we keep half.  It is a great deal for everyone...approx 250 dollar value, and the businesses have no cost involved unless they get someone in the door.  Just an idea.  Let me know if you want some details.

I think people have magic computers that allow them to get through.. I tried early registration early in the morning when they sent that email out but it was already sold out. Oh well.

dalessit - 2009-11-02 7:22 AM Seeing a Packer game at Lambeau is on my list of things to do.  My dad went last year (he lives in Minnesota)  and he said it was pretty cool.

How was everyones October?  Already started back on a more balanced month.  Rode last night, swimming today, running tomorrow, woo hoo!

Bike:
1h 38m  - 26.5 Mi
Run:22h 44m 22s  - 135.45 Mi
Swim:51m 52s  - 2500 M

Also, 2 full months to go to the end of the year, anyone coming up on milestones?
I just need 74 miles to get to 1000 running for the year.

Funny, already 500miles more biked, 600 more run, & 30k swam over last year.

October's totals:
Bike:2h 45m 36s  - 39.76 Mi
Run:20h 42m 42s  - 120.89 Mi

Does anyone notice any absence there of a sport?  He He

I was back in the pool yesterday trying to give the legs a rest.  It wasn't too bad.  And I have blown away my numbers from last year!  It certainly helps to have motivation from friends.  Thanks!
