Oh dear, so I forgot to tell you guys about my first training session for the beer mile.

First of all the rules are tough,

in case you don't know it's:

1 Beer, 1 Lap, 1 Beer, 1 Lap, 1 Beer, 1 Lap, 1 Beer, Final Lap

The beer HAS to be at least 5.0% so, no pansy light beers. It also has to come from a regular, un-tampered with can or bottle. So no shot-gunning etc.

If you throw up, you have to run an additional quarter mile Surprised

As it turns out I have lost all of my college skills for chugging beer. It is going to exceptionally tough with the 5.0+% rule.

I don't think I could finish this race, but would have fun trying.

I'm sure you could finish just fine.

It's probably going to be that 20 minutes or so after finishing that's going to get sketchy.

You might be right.

Got my diagnosis from my podiatrist today.  Get this:  plantar fasciitis, tarpal tunnel inflammation, AND achilles tendonitis IN BOTH FEET!!!  So, I guess we can consider me the anti-miminalist runner.  So, this:

Not this:

New inserts, Advil, and PT.  Fingers crossed on recovering in time for my June sprints. Innocent

I consider this good news...I didn't tear anything.  I was REALLY WORRIED.  Surprised

Good luck racing this weekend...and let's work on that DL list.  It's pretty darn full right now.

Well in my opinion, the shoes on top look a hell of a lot better Smile

PF isn't the worst thing. It sounds like you are doing everything you can to speed the recovery, so that is great. Probably the best thing about it is that you CAN be proactive.

Hang in there!

It's not the end of the world.  I'd love to be a minimalist runner.  I'm just not.  I have to wear shoes with support and heel elevation (opposite of negative heel drop?) or I get PF and a bunch of other problems.  I think non-minimalist running is better than minimalist injured.

Yeah, I think everyone just needs to run the way they remain comfortable and injury free, in the shoes that best accommodate this.

Go Melanie!!!

Go Dub6!!!

To those currently gimped--UNGIMP YOURSELVES!!! Healing {MELON PRESS}.

Condolences--it's been a tough week for losing Manatee friends. Dub6 also attended a memorial. Here's to honoring and celebrating the lives of those we miss, and to the ability to love and therefore hurt when they are gone from this phase of existence. Big {MANATEE MELON PRESS} to all.

Ohh Racer5! That would be extremely appropriate. Considering that like, 3 beers drank at a reasonable pace gets me drunk these days ...

Buuut, I think and IPA will be way too hoppy. My nose is burning thinking about it.

The accompanying vice boyfriend piglet (who I stood up on our Wednesday date, way to fookin' tired) had never had either samosas (whatever they're called in the Middle East) or falafel, so I de-virginated him on both counts. I love breaking boys in.

Vice?

Jesus, neither??? Well done. A de-virginator is a precarious yet rewarding role. You will make a long lasting impression, indeed.

Samosas would be excellent on the bike btw ... I could stuff a few in my bento.

Yeah, that's a tough beer to chug.  It takes me about a 1/2 hour just to drink a pint of it.

That looks awesome!

Yesterday, I got lunch from the local mediterranean deli.  It's run by a Lebanese family.  I had a chicken fatayer (like triangle pie filled with meat) and pistachio baklava.  I want more.

Fatayer! That's what they call samosas in the Middle East. Thank you!

BAKLAVA! That's the ONE thing I didn't eat tonight. And now I want some. I'm hungry again. Hm.
