Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN 32:23 ride at lunch. I'm trying to figure out a new route for my lunch ride. I also had my first accident of the year. I took a corner too hot and didn't make it. My front tire went into 4" of sand. That followed with the slow motion fall to earth. My hip and forearm saved the bike. I'm just not sure if I broke the forearm. I have a knot on my arm and restricted movement. Right now I'm icing and waiting before I decide to have an x-ray. The good news it I made it home before the sky opened up. Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN Texas Peeps - I'll be down in Austin Sunday afternoon. Thinking of renting a road bike from Bicycle Sport Shop on S. Lamar. Looking for any advice on a good ride and then advice on running in the mornings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I can't recall where everyone lives - but more than happy to meet up if my schedule permits. I'll be at the Barton Creek Omni hotel. Let me know any thoughts or recommendations! Mitch |

And with that being said I wish I could extend some of our southern hospitality to you but unfortentley I live 200 miles SE of Austin in the burbs of Houston. But if you find yourself in Houston some day I will show you around. |

Very short 39' run with 1-2-3-2-1 min efforts in the middle today. As much as I don't like to do things like that, I must say it felt like the right thing to do. 353 Conroe, Texas | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN I CAN SWIM!! Super stoked right now because I am finally able to swim 500m without stopping. I started swimming on March 24th and on the first day I could barely make 25m without having to cling to the side of the pool and suck for air. I really want to do a triathlon so I decided I would swim everyday until I had the swimming where it needs to be before my first Tri. Well I'm happy to say 8 weeks later I can swim the distance I need for my first Triathlon. I timed my second attempt today and I was able to finish 500m in 9:45 and with my first tri on August 2nd I hope to improve on that time in the coming months. 278 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN I posted this over in the main forum, but since we are a team here, I figured I would post it here as well... I have been having a terrible time getting up for my 5AM workouts. My alarm goes off, but I shut it off & fall right back to sleep. I have tried going to bed a lot earlier to get a more full night's sleep, but I still blaze right through the alarm. I can't do most tricks like put the alarm on the other side of the room, because I can't wake up my wife. I go to bed with every intention of waking up. I lay out my workout clothes so I can get up, ready, and head out the door. But all that preparation & eagerness at night is gone in the morning. When sheer motivation alone doesn't overtake your body's physiological desire to want to stay in bed, what do you do to drag your butt out of bed in the morning? |

353 Conroe, Texas | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN Thanks Lisa and your workout did show up on Strava. I commented on it although it's a little tricky to get to your notifications. @Meathead It's a long road training your body to get up early in the morning. I don't know any tricks to get the process started but I can tell you after a few years of waking up at 4:00am everyday any attempt to sleep in on the weekends is futile. |

I am considering throwing down the bucks on it but I have read mixed reviews on the swimming application on the device. I use the Garmin 910xt as my multisport watch. I have the quick release band that allows me to take it off the watch band easily and then mount it on my bike as my bike computer. So whenever I run, bike or swim my Garmin is collecting data. I've had no real issues on the swim. I occassionally, very rarely, will have a missed length of the pool. I attribute it more to me running into a lane marker of doing something funky with my stroke. It won't pick up kick sets so you do have to add those back in to your totals if you do them and care. I find it does a great job counting distance. I also look a bit at the efficiency calcs it does. Happy to answer any questions. Edited by trisuppo 2014-05-14 1:00 PM |

Expert 1480 Somewhere in the Swamps of Philly | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN Dennis - nice job on the swim, but a couple of helpful observations. If your tri swim is in open water (which is really the way it needs to be), the only similarity with your pool experience will be the water. Open water brings many variables which don't exist in the pool - notably contact with other swimmers (which can be violent), opaque water, current, sunlight/glare, wind, sighting (which is a skill unto itself!) and the possible use of a wetsuit (which is great because it provides added buoyancy and speed, but can be claustrophobic). Prior open water experience is critical from a confidence and safety perspective - don't let race day be your first day in open water. Because of all these variables, don't shoot for 500M as a goal just because it coincides with your race distance. I'd shoot for a 1000M goal so that you know if things go wrong in the swim, you have what it takes to be safe. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but I have be in panicked situations during the swim and it can be downright terrifying. Do whatever you can to build confidence. Being safe is the only important thing. |

Master 1609 Gold Coast Australia. | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN Dennis, x2 what Joe said. I would add, since you can swim 500m under 10 min, I bet you could swim much longer distance even now. Expert 1480 Somewhere in the Swamps of Philly | Subject: RE: Team Trisuppo - OPEN Adding back my swim from yesterday and drainer ride this morning. @Mitch - thx for taking the leading and submitting the application. @ Drew - I regularly train in the early morning so I get it why it is hard to awake early. When I'm off kilter in my schedule, it is usually due to stress and that I'm not getting good quality rest. I also print out my training plan, keep it at my desk at work and cross off the completed activities. It is a small amount of accountability, but I get satisfaction from ticking off for each completed workout. Also, accountability to this group helps too.
