It's very individual. I would have been fine racing from a handling perspective within a coupe rides, but I ride a lot so it was less of an adjustment. Someone less familiar is probably going to take longer. It took more time than that to be able to stay in the position longer though.

ETA: Oh, the type of race matters too. More technical and more crowded would mean more familiarity.

I like to think I have good bike handling skillz - probably more so on my mountain bike though.

I made the mistake of asking my LBS when they think would be good - of course they say NOW! $$$ CHA CHING! LOL

Doooo EEEEEET! As for how long... it didn't take me long to get used to aero. If you're comfortable on a bike anyway it won't take long to switch. But why wait? Cool

to save up some duckets - and not drop a ton of cash on a bike that'll sit in the garage most of the winter........but there MAY be some end of season sales.........................

I use mine on the trainer during the winter. Not because we have weather so bad I can't get outside, it's New Mexico after all, but because the days are so short it's difficult to ride during daylight hours.

Helps build those aero muscles.

Aero muscles, hahaha I like it. Can I have running aero muscles. You know, to be more aero?

Lose some weight. All that non-running training blew you up.

Wetsuits are ok here, but have their own standings. Most people tend to go without though. I'm going with because of another race coming up soon and think I could use the practice. So yeah, I took the shortest (main event is the 5k), wussiest way to do this!

Yeah, Ben, when I think of you and your racing schedule and performance, all I can think is what a wuss!  I mean, I didn't want to come right out and say that, but, jeez, man, strap on a pair and start doing something already.  You're kind of an embarassment to the pod.  ;P

Yanti calls me fat on a regular basis. She also makes fun of me for whining. She's real mean.

*She also knows that I am too weak and like food way too much to have an eating disorder.

So to add to our FACHMIE line of usable words I offer a new one. First the background. I spent a lot of last week with the agents from our Las Cruces office. They were telling me about some of the agents in the El Paso office who speak with Mexican accents. This became quite funny when a Ford Focus was added to their office fleet. Apparently when someone with a Mexican accent says focus it sounds more like f*ckus. So there you have it. I saw several Ford Focuses (focusi?) on the way to work today and each one made me chuckle. So I thought I should share it with y'all. Focus.

HA!  F*ckus focusi!

ETA:  Dangit - Salty beat me to it.

Foci

We're going to be confusing cars and bread soon.

Reproduced here for the general benefit of the manatees ...

It's in the Washington Times. By researchers from Spain "superbeef" country. Must be true.

Scientists suggest beer after a workout
