Thanks Lyssa...I have no idea why my last post did what it did with the HTML...or what ever you call it that makes it a link thingie (I am so not a geek).

 Sorry about that.

Maybe I should just stick to running.  ;-)

LOL

I think I must have done something funny when I posted the pic, cuz quote/reply to it is doing the same thing

I am sure it was "my fault, dear" .

Can you tell I know how to do that with the best of them...that is why I have been married for 33 years (if I live till March 15).

treadmill bike

check this out - it's a treadmill bike - LOL

Is that real or Photoshopped?

it's for real - I actually saw it on tv last night - I couldn't stop laughing

Ooh, I just found its website ! I love this quote:

Still not convinced that the Treadmill Bike is right for you? Consider these key benefits:

  • When the weather's nice, the last place you want to be is cooped up in some stuffy gym. Imagine running through evergreen forests or strolling down country roads. All of this is possible thanks to the rugged design and all terrain tires on the revolutionary Treadmill Bike.
Why not just go FOR A RUN! On the road. With your feet hitting pavement?!? LOL!

Yeah, I checked out the video; one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Actually, they answer that burning question, "Why not just run, walk, etc?"

The Treadmill Bike's hard wearing belt offers a sure grip while protecting your feet from dirt and other contaminants commonly found on the earth's surface.

Of course, that should have been obvious! Damn those contaminants!

If you use this "thing" and go for 5 miles on it, it begs to ask the question.....Does that count on my logs as a 10 mile Bike/Run brick???

Headed out for a play and drinks and dinner....or maybe drinks FOR dinner..talk to you guys tomorrow.

Yeah it does - it was close to what I was going to ask for - but a little more. I was just going to subtract the mileage I had planned for the time I missed but that works as well. Just gives me more to work on when I get back that's all.

Stacie

Hi Stacie, If you have training plans, and you've missed specific days, then yes - you can subtract the mileage you had planned for those days. Either method is ok. Hope you're feeling better!

Thanks Dee - I didn't have a specific plan updated in my log - I just had a calendar here at home where I planned out what I would have to run to make 62.4 miles (goal was 60) and I had been following it to a "T" before I got sick even with family in town. So I am not sure since it wasn't one that I imported into my log that it would count. There is like 5 miles difference. I am hoping to start back running on Monday - that percentage would take my goal from 60 to 45 miles. I was hoping to reduce my goal to 40. So maybe I will split the difference and make my goal 42 if that works for you guys.

As for the flu - today is day 5 and even thought I was stupid to try a run on thrusday I am doing pretty good. I managed to get real food in yesterday and today and have rehydrated some. At this point though I am still tired. We went out to do errands for 3 hours this morning and I had to come back and take a nap for a couple hours. So hopefully if I continue to rest today and tomorrow I can come back on Mon or Tues. Letting the group down is a big thing for me that I am trying not to do.

Hope you are doing better and work gives you a break for a bit.

Stacie

I think I will risk the contaminants instead of trying to do that thing. I would probably fall off of it and hurt myself.  I did see earlier this summer here in Ok a family had bikes that were like stair masters. Instead of doing the traditional type of pedaling you pushed straight up and down on like the "arms" or pedals from a stairmaster. They did quite well and were moving - I would kill myself I think.

Way to go, Susan!!!

Questions for Jen: I am definitely going to exceed my goal. Should I look at my plan and increase it accordingly or leave it alone. I underestimated how fast I was going to come back from my injury. Thoughts?

Pam, it's up to you if you want to increase your goal or not.  My only concern would be increasing your goal too much, so I would just keep that in mind if you decide to change your goal.  Don't want you to get re-injured!

Also wanted to mention, that even tho I'm still behind for the month, I have my longest run ever next weekend so that should help   And since I won't be racing that race, I won't have to taper as much before.  Seems the older one gets, the longer the taper.   Sounds philosophical.... almost.

Great job on your 5k Steve!!!

I think I can safely increase my goal by 20 more miles. As of tonight, I was less than 2 miles from my original goal. So I'm now going for 60 miles this month. I just didn't know at the beginning that I was going to go from wralking 4 miles a workout to running 7!

Thanks.
