So does anyone have any snappy comebacks for any of the crude pick up lines you might hear at the gym?

At my meatmarket (ahem, gym) the sauna and hot tub (bacteria infested orgy grounds) are right next to the pool and I inevitably get some furry overweight man who thinks he's burning fat by sitting in the hot tub with something disgusting to say.

Thoughts?

Man: "Haven't we met before?"
Woman: "Yes, I'm the receptionist at the VD Clinic."

Man: "Haven't I seen you someplace before?
Woman: "Yeah, that's why I don't go there anymore."

Man: "Is this seat empty?"
Woman: "Yes, and this one will be too if you sit down."

Man: "So, wanna go back to my place ?"
Woman: "Well, I don't know. Will two people fit under a rock?"

Man: "Your place or mine?"
Woman: "Both. You go to yours and I'll go to mine."

Man: "I'd like to call you. What's your number?"
Woman: "It's in the phone book."
Man: "But I don't know your name."
Woman: "That's in the phone book too."

Man: "So what do you do for a living?"
Woman: "I'm a female impersonator."

Man: "What sign were you born under?"
Woman: "No Parking."

Man: "Hey, baby, what's your sign?"
Woman: "Do not Enter"

Man: "How do you like your eggs in the morning?"
Woman: "Unfertilized !"

Man: "Hey, come on, we're both here at this bar for the same reason"
Woman: "Yeah! Let's pick up some chicks!"

Man: "I'm here to fulfill your every sexual fantasy."
Woman: "You mean you've got both a donkey and a Great Dane?"      AWESOME!!!!

Man: "I know how to please a woman."
Woman: "Then please leave me alone."

Man: "I want to give myself to you."
Woman: "Sorry, I don't accept cheap gifts."

Man: "I can tell that you want me."
Woman: "Ohhhh. You're so right. I want you to leave."

Man: "If I could see you naked, I'd die happy:
Woman: "Yeah, but if I saw you naked, I'd probably die laughing."

Man: "Hey cutie, how 'bout you and I hitting the hot spots?"
Woman: "Sorry, I don't date outside my species.."

Man: "Your body is like a temple."
Woman: "Sorry, there are no services today."

Man: "I'd go through anything for you."
Woman: "Good! Let's start with your bank account."

Man: "I would go to the end of the world for you.
Woman: "Yes, but would you stay there?"

I have a watch with a lap counter on it.  That's what I use.  Although honestly I am using it mostly to count laps

Glad the swim workout and peer pressure was useful

The fist drill was thrown in there so everyone had something to complain about! Goal of that drill is to focus on slow arm turn over and feel the pull of your arms. It's expected that you'll slow down a lot which should also force you to work on body position.

Good job to all that did the workout already!!

Nicole83 - 2010-01-06 8:03 AM Did the swim workout last night.

I hate that fist drill.  I was pretty much swimming in place.

So make sure to make us do that one again, because I'm sure it's good for me.

Peer pressure successful, thanks Eric!

Great advice, I'll add just one thing... a slight shift in your A-race focus could put you right back on track. Just push out your A-race if you feel your time crunched and make your previous A-race a B/C.

bzgl40 - 2010-01-06 7:05 AM You had a bad couple of weeks but your routine was pretty solid leading into that.  You probably ended up getting some much needed time off.  You have a half listed in Feb.  Were you still planning that one?  That might be tough to get the training in for but I see everything else you listed as still quite doable IMO.  As you said, start up slowly, fit in what you can, and you should be fine.  Get in what workouts you can, even if they are short.  A 10 minute run is not really a waste of time, it's better then 0 minutes if that is all the time you got.

Once you get the consistency back up again for a while you can start working on speed.  I am not sure you need to rethink your goals just yet, but you probably do have to adjust your thinking for the early season stuff you have planned.

jezzieswims - 2010-01-05 10:10 PM

I'm looking for some help. Due to a family emergency and being sick I've been out of the training loop for the last several weeks. I'm taking it easy and using my HR and coughing as a gauge for my training efforts. I'm out of the water for at least another week and the runs are limited to a pace I can maintain without having coughing fits (which is really slow).

My plan is to ease back into things and get some rides and strength sessions in this week (and maybe a swim if I get the thumbs up) but I'm feeling really sluggish and am watching my 2010 season creep up. My goal for 2010 was to get faster but at this point I'm just hoping to maintain.

I need some honest feedback. Am I totally over reacting or do I maybe need reset my goals or push them out for later in the season?

I know I haven't lost all of my fitness in the last couple of weeks and I know it will come back if I start training but I feel like I'm starting in a hole.

Okay, my whining is over.

I haven't read other's posts to this yet (haven't made it that far) So if I repeat, sorry...

I think you will be fine!  maybe a lil' over reacting, which is normal. Until you are actually start getting back out there and find that you haven't lost or starting as far behind as you thought.  I essentially took 2 months off after IMFL... did a few things here & there, but NO WHERE near what I was doing before.  This week has been a little sluggish for me too, but I am feeling better with every session.  Your body is an amazing machine and will adapt/rebound rather quickly.  With your sickness, just take it easy as not to further hinder future progress by prolonging the sickness.  You will be fine Jessica!

Here's a run workout...adjust accordingly

6 miles total

Warm Up mile

5/4/3/2/1 min medium effort with equal slow recovery between

Cool down mile

So does anyone have any snappy comebacks for any of the crude pick up lines you might hear at the gym?

At my meatmarket (ahem, gym) the sauna and hot tub (bacteria infested orgy grounds) are right next to the pool and I inevitably get some furry overweight man who thinks he's burning fat by sitting in the hot tub with something disgusting to say.

Thoughts?

I did the swim workout last night too, and it was great.  Just the right amounts of different things to make the time fly by (can you tell how much I don't love swimming?).  The fist drill was the big problem though, as I was sharing a "fast lane" with three other people, and was holding them up.  I'm hoping the crowd at my local pool thins out as New Year's resolutions fall by the wayside.

I have a quick question about goggles:  I've tried about a dozen different kinds, and there seems to be some small irregularity with my right eye socket because it always leaks.  The left side is (almost) always fine.  Does anyone have a recommendation for me?  Something that I don't have to wear so tight that I end up with bulging eyes for the next two days?  Thanks!

evondo - 2010-01-06 8:53 AM Glad the swim workout and peer pressure was useful

The fist drill was thrown in there so everyone had something to complain about! Goal of that drill is to focus on slow arm turn over and feel the pull of your arms. It's expected that you'll slow down a lot which should also force you to work on body position.

Good job to all that did the workout already!!

Nicole83 - 2010-01-06 8:03 AM Did the swim workout last night.

I hate that fist drill.  I was pretty much swimming in place.

So make sure to make us do that one again, because I'm sure it's good for me.

Peer pressure successful, thanks Eric!

Does anyone want to post a bike/run workout for this week?

Well, Eric... it appears as if all your peer preasure about a POWERTAP is finally taking it's toll on my psyche!  I am growing closer & closer to buying the laced up comp from Wheelbuilder.  Thanks to your tri-student extrodianaire *fattyfatfat* (doing the necessary research), it is looking better & better at trumping my aero wheel purchase!  More details to follow... I will be celebrating a birthday on Groundhog's Day and this is what I am asking ol' Punksatoni Phil for! (I apologize for the hooked on phonics spelling of the damn gophers name!) Embarassed

Oh man, are you telling me you're 400lbs and furry and would use some lame line like, "Hot dam.n girl are you cold or something?"

Yes, a strange furry man commented on my nipples.  In public.

I was traumatized.

Thoughts?

Ha, and all this time I thought you liked me    CRUSHED!
