Ann and Russ - great job on your races.

Russ - let me know what you think of the CFA after you take it, and best of luck. I am taking part I in December (but shh, I didnt tell anyone I know in real life...)

Robin - Thanks for volunteering! These things will never happen if not for you and those willing souls.

My splits are in from the sprint, and RR posted. As usual, the distances were off a bit in different directions. Swim was shorter than posted, bike was long, run was short. So, while the chip lies on speed, rankings tell the story. 22nd out of 27 AG swimming (bleh). 10th on bike, 4th on run. As i said before, very happy with the direction of things.

Now that i'm starting on taper time, going to try to catch up on my neglected yardword, and maybe even the work that pays the bills :-)

Happy training, and stay safe!

I took it maybe 10 years ago.  Several people in my company have one.  I believe Alan Meder, who works with me is the President of the CFA Institute.  I really don't need one though, so when I didn't pass it I just went on for an MBA.  It's a tough test!  The only thing I think I've ever failed in my life.  I went on to be Deltu Mu Delta at Grad School.  Graduated top of my class with a 4.0 and the CFA kicked my a$$!

Yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat.  I dont' really need it, but my boss encouraged me to take it.  I'm a pretty smart guy and there's not many groups that I can't get in the top 38% of, but I'm afraid this may be one of them.

I'll just be glad when I have it behind me and pass or fail, I can focus all my time and effort into my family and training rather than studying.

Morning! Congrats on everyone's races this weekend! I finally had my first 5K, it was a lot of fun and I'm already looking for my next one! Guess you could say I'm hooked. I now have an official base race time to work from. There were 701 racers, I came in 506; 24th out of 48 in my AG. Time was 0:37:45, 12:09 split avg. Definitely better than I anticipated!

Morning all! I had a good Olympic yesterday. Not a fast race, but I achieved my goal. In 2011 I had a terrible time at this course with asthma and just could not breathe. The whole race felt like one big panic attack. My goal was to complete the race feeling calm and in control. With the wonder of modern medicine and some focused breathing, I achieved my goal.

Had a great time too. Drove down with my training buddy's husband (she is injured, so came as a spectator on race morning) and he completed his first Olympic distance in a smoking fast time. Also met another BTer and found a great pizza place. I would call it a good weekend.

Awesome weekend Anne!!!!  I hate that panicky feeling and glad you didn't have to suffer through the olympic - sounds like a great race!!!!

Hey everyone, sorry I have been absent from the group lately.  In addition to helping out a student in crisis two weeks ago, my family has also moved houses.  Its been quite an exhausting last few weeks.  Thankfully, I have been able to get some training in.

Great job everyone on their races recently.  Its been awesome to read about people hitting and exceeding their goals!  Keep it up!

Thanks Robin, now that I know I can get through without panicking, I want to start working on improving time.

Soooooo busy training!  Trying to put in some big weeks in the next 3.  I'm going on vacation after that for week, so limited training.  Then it will be 3 more big weeks and a week taper for HIM.  That's the plan anyway.  Not sure about tonight yet.  My friends son was on a cub scout camping trip over the weekend and fell down a ravine. Unfortunately, Aiden hit his head on a rock during the fall and passed away.  Nine years old!   Wake is tonight.

Brian - So sorry to hear about your son's friend. :-(  That has got to be horrible.

Ken - Just kind of lounging around. Made some good improvements on the run (see my fast run on Monday), and I've been running quite a bit the last two weeks, and I hope to keep it up.   However, it has gotten to the 100+ degree days, so I have to put in my runs at 530-6am and finish before 7ish.  It's not that bad at night, but because the asphalt gets so hot during the day that the heat radiates from it at night. If it gets hot to a point, I can tell because my HR gets higher, yet my RPE remains the same (and even if the pace is slower).

I think I'm really enjoying running because I wake up and I want to go for a run. :-)  Today I'm taking a day off from running, and do a bike ride on the trainer.   I am noticing the benefits of running frequent short runs.  Hopefully 3-5 milers will come easier when I start HIM training!

Brian - my deepest sympathy goes out to your friend's family - very very tragic. Definately hits home for me as my son is a cub scout and will be going to camp in July.

Any loss of life is tragic, but 9 years old, wow.  My sympathies to you and his family, I couldn't imagine dealing with that.

Glad to hear the running is going well DJ! The frequency does pay  off if you build to it patiently!!  It is also tough finding time for most of us with also having to fit in the bike and swim!

Good morning!

Whats everyone up to today?  I am procrastinating getting my run in!

<--------feeling remorseful for skipping out on swimming last night.  I just really wasn't in the mood after coming home from the wake.

It's going to be tough to fit something in tonight.  I'm tied up at work and won't be able to go to the gym here today.  I have to wait till I get home.  Most important for me to do tonight is a run.  After that's done, if I have time, I can do an easy ride on the bike or make up the swim from yesterday.
