I'd get home just in time to check out the Gungywamp equinox ancient calendar. Kind of like Stonehenge lite http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GungywampIt's the first day of Spring. We should sacrifice a virgin if we could find one. Mini poll. How should TAN commemorate Spring? A) Do something triathlete-y if we can find our gear. B) Wear green and pinch someone. We are mostly a little slow. C) Play Stravinski's Rites of Spring on the stereo really loud and make humping noises to entertain the neighbors. Your suggestion?
TW
I would like to believe this is real, but there are so many internet hoaxes. Is this the Connecticut version of crop circles? TW I've been there and seen it. It's very cool. Some claim it's colonial in nature and that could be probable. The main cave is hard to rationalize as a root cellar. There is a window at the western end which beams light into the cave striking a concave wall of a secondary chamber in the eastern side. This ONLY happens on the equinox days. There are some other very curious things which don't seem colonial or Native American in origin. I'm skeptical and curious. There are some who claim them to be ancient Cetlic in origin. |

C. Definitely C, but I may substitute Vivaldi's Spring. I just love that piece. I already did A, but I'm content pretending that I didn't.

Well it is still too cold to do anything outside here. I could run but I did that the other day. And yesterday I bought new shoes in the honor of spring. To my surprise I have switched shoes. I don't like the new version of the Brooks I was running in. I am def getting done work and going to spin. I just ate a donut from a meeting. I have stared at this Boston Cream filled donut since 7 am. No one claimed it so ummmm I did. Come on I made it 6 hours and 38 mins. DAMN WILL POWER |

Stravinsky's has a bit more raw eroticism, but I like them both. RoS caused a riot in the theater at the premiere in Paris. |

Thanks to the YouTubes, listening now to check it out.... it's like the 60's Batman action theme music! Rite of Spring was actually composed early in Stravinsky's career. It is conventional in structure and harmony. He got more avante garde and atonal as he got older. The story of the ballet is that a young girl is selected for sacrifice and she dances herself to death. Igor nailed it. TW Edited by tech_geezer 2014-03-20 1:22 PM |

The YouTube video I watched was of a ballet being performed, and it just looked like a bunch of stylized, dance-y humping. I thought it fit this thread well

Yup. It is perhaps second only to Bolero in the classical FMN repertoire. TW

YAY! I hope all is well with everyone, and SO nice to see Kate back in here! I took the bike out for a spin last night. SO nice. I got it running pretty well (I need to dial in the idle a bit). But you are more than welcome to take her for a spin. I wish I had two and we could go to red rocks. Tony could ride beeeeeeeeyotch...... As a side not (don't tell the wife). I may go to the cycle super center and get a new helmet! My other one is old and some of the trimming came off. It's still safe, just not cosmetically appealing anymore. I'm thinking to kind of go dork-ish and get one of those modular models where they whole face swings up and not just the visor. In the desert, it's nice to get a little more ventilation at rest breaks than just flipping a visor. They also have some with blue tooth built in on sale now! Giggity!

My bike is still under the cover in the garage waiting for better days. I haven't touched it since I got it ready for winter with treating the gas and changing all of the fluids, so all I had to do was get it fired up and be ready to ride since all of the maintenance has been done. Really thinking I should be riding it, and then we had two days of nice weather followed by snow. WTF!!! Maybe after next week, I will get the bike out and get it ready for a lot of riding to work everyday, rain or shine. I have the gear, I just need to make it happen.

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN #203: TANese New Year - Horsing Around Believe it or not. I was able to ride mine in a polo shirt and jeans. It's pretty warm here. Granted, I was only tooling around at 30-35 through the neighborhood. Anything faster would need a jacket. Full disclosure. I wish I was a bit more skilled on the bike. It felt a bit weird to be on it after months and months. Nervous to lean it over much or accelerate through corners. Just sort of old-manned it/puttered through the corners and side streets. It usually takes a couple rides to get back into the swing. Similar to getting back on the bicycle or MTB. Just getting the feel takes a couple rides. |

Spent some time putting things into storage last night to (I tend to leave golf clubs and bosu ball and other implements of destruction laying about in unused rooms)... I still think I need to go through a purge. We have lots of stuff that stored so out of site, out of mind, but we should dump it if it's not needed and put other things away. For example, I think I have an entire box of RCA cables, Coax cable, phone line, and various other electronic mess in the garage. I should dump it and store things we don't have room for at the moment. Oh, and CLOTHES. It's hard to get rid of some sentimental items, but if I haven't worn them in years and never will? She has a dress made of paper money (fake money), it's cool for a costume and someone put some work into it, but seriously, why keep it? It looks like something they would make on project runway... |

TW Moving into a TINY house helped me get rid of stuff like cables, extension cords, etc... but I'd be lying if I said I got rid of all of it. I accumulate stuff, then hold on to it if I believe it has any sort of value. If I clean when I'm feeling not sentimental, it's a lot easier to just get rid of stuff. I'll be doing some of that before May again for sure. |
