Sarah, I like your new avatar, too.

What does everyone have on tap for today?

G'morning!  Well, I did a 6-mile run this morning and felt great.  I kept my heart rate down most of the time, except it spiked on a couple of wicked hills.  My knee is a bit achy now, but I'm icing it and taking some ibu...and have PT this afternoon.  I think I'll keep my LSD runs under 7 miles for a couple of weeks and see how I hold up.  Then I'll start increasing slowly again.

My biking and swimming on the other hand are ramping up like crazy.  I'm training for my HIM with a group who all trained together for ironman last year.  I'm clearly the slow one in the group and feel like I've fallen off the back of a roller coaster and am hanging on for dear life.  Ha ha.  But they've been great and I'm learning a ton.  And most importantly, having an awesome time doing it.  That being said, I'm really excited about my rest day on Sunday.  :-)

mac3116 - 2008-04-23 4:16 PM the weather was one big reason i didnt jump on it right then . its not so much the cold but my needs to have some cloths on !!! i am used to getting out at 5-6 am with only shoes and shorts and i hate running in cloths although i do like my CWX tights just not much for anything on the top. so i kinda gave it up to stay here and train i just didnt see to much of it up there what they got one marathon .

yeah, you would have to learn to wear clothes shaun. When I ran this winter I had UA tights, UA shirt, windproof pants, windproof jacket, hat (balaclava on really cold days), gloves, and wool blend socks. You learn to deal with it though and our bodies are pretty good at acclimating over time.

It seems like I'm always in a constant battle to keep one of the sports from flailing while the other two are doing great.  The sport seems to switch from month to month, too.

How is that new bike treating you?

x3 on the new avatar Sarah! Makes me think Spring I have to admit I'm a little envious that you have such a great group of people to train with. The medal was really sweet, and you all are such great support for one another. The headhunter van sounds really fun too

I have the bike/run tri clinic tonight, but the weather is still not good here, so it looks like it will be a short cycle on the spin bikes and then an outdoor run. I really need to get in some serious biking time for the challenge, but with the weather it isn't easy. I got an outdoor ride in Tuesday, but I literally had to keep my eye on the window and wait for a small break in the weather. I don't mind short rides in the high 30s low 40s, but with the wind it's just too cold. I have a 3 1/2 hour spinnerval dvd that follows the ironman lake placid course that I need to do, but it's hard to motivate myself to get on the trainer when I think i should be able to get outside. Tomorrow I'm going to do an easy swim, but that's all in prep for my race on Saturday.

I'm getting over some sort of flu-like body aching, so I'm taking it really easy for the next few days. I'm not planning any training again until Monday, but will try to do the run on Saturday with my daughter.

Good plan.  Your body could use the break after all the effort it put out during your race.  When is your next tri?

Not until July. Between now and then I have a 4 mile road race on Memorial Day and my Tour de Cure Metric Century in early June. I need to start adding biking distance!

My July tri is sorta a throw-away (300m pool swim, 12 mile ride, 5k run), but it's a repeat of my first ever tri. So, I sorta don't care and I sorta want to crush last year's results. Yeah, I'm conflicted.

Aw.  Don't be conflicted!  I repeated my first tri ever and I shaved a half hour off my first time!  Talk about a confidence booster!

Thanks Shaun.  I'm thinking about that.

Did you guys hear about the swimmer off Solana Beach (near San Diego) that was killed by a shark this morning?  He was a triathlete.  That's where my husband and I go when we are down there!

Beautiful pics Tracy! I have an Aunt that lives in Anchorage and is always teasing me that I need to come up there and do some REAL hiking. She's right though it's beautiful here, but Alaska has it on a much grander scale. Hopefully, next Summer we'll be able to take her up on the challenge!

Good morning everyone!  Ugh, I had hill repeats on my schedule this morning.  Yuck yuck yuck.  But they are over with and that makes me happy.  :-)

Roni - nice work over the weekend!  Way to go on all of those personal bests!!!!!

Tracy - are you feeling better yet?  That crud just hangs on forever.  I started using a Neti Pot awhile back and it seems to have helped clear the gunk from my sinuses a lot faster.  Not sure it will help with your cough, but maybe if you get rid of some of the drainage, your lungs won't get so congested?

Have a fab day!!!

I swam today for the first time since my triathlon 10 days ago (14 days since I've been to the pool). I definitely felt like I'd lost some endurance. I worked on keeping my head down more as I've read that this should help keep my feet up. I seemed to be moving a little bit faster, so maybe it is helping. Unfortunately, it makes it harder for me to tell when I'm at the end of the lane
