I need a recipe or two for Thanksgiving, preferably a side dish.....who can help me? My preference is a 5 star rating, but I suppose I can also go with rave reviews from John, Reuben, Trevor, Tony, Craig or Andy. And no, it cannot contain beer and yes, it should be a vegetable. best EVER! its from the original ruths in new orleans. edit. hang on having trouble attaching. bleh here.... i also email it. Ruth's Chris special sweet potato casserole Crust 1 cup brown sugar Sweet Potato Mixture 3 cups mashed sweet potatoes Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a medium-size casserole dish with nonstick spray. Combine sweet potatoes, sugar, salt, vanilla, eggs and butter in a large mixing bowl in the order listed. Beat thoroughly with a hand mixer to increase the fluffiness of the sweet potato mixture. Pour mixture into the baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes. (At this point, dish can be covered and refrigerated.) Sprinkle the surface of the sweet potato mixture evenly with the crust mixture and return to oven for 10 minutes. Allow to set at least 30 minutes before serving. The brown sugar and pecan crust should be slightly browned and crunchy. Edited by fattyfatfat 2009-11-16 2:35 PM |

I have a great recipe for a roasted chestnut soup. I should have some other recipes if I get a chance to sit down and think. I've cooked the big meal for the past 20+ years for my family. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Take some bacon and cook it down to where it is crispy. Take the bacon out, reserve the fat. Quarter frozen brussel sprouts and sear in the bacon fat. Remove the sprouts to the serving dish. Mince the cooked bacon and sprinkle back over the brussel sprouts, serve hot! You can use any amount of bacon, bacon fat, and brussel sprouts. (Me, I just leave out the brussel sprouts altogether Seriously, the dish is really tasty, the salty bacon and fat balances nice with the sweet bitterness of the sprouts. That and it takes like no time to cook compared to other fancy vegetables. Or take two packages of thawed, frozen spinach and squeeze all the moisture out. Half a jar of Ragu alfredo sauce into a skillet with some chopped garlic and heat it up in a skillet. Dice up the spinach a little to get rid of the big chucks. Add the chopped spinach to the alfredo. Grate 1/2 lb of gruyere cheese and melt into your sauce/spinach mixture. Salt and pepper to taste. Yummy creamed spinach in no time flat... Really good with steaks! |

Depending on when my new coach gets the plan ready. All that means is that you and are going to hammer it at Lonestar. *yawn* I see you upped your run to 4x a week. Maybe you will be fast enough at Lonestar so I don't have to run backwards to keep it fair! i didn't know you actually run. Really good with steaks! I was going to suggest brussel sprouts also. I like them on the grill, mixed with walnuts and shallots, just coat them with a bit of olive oil. Cook the sprouts until the outside leaves are a bit charred. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Anyone ever look at their race graphs in the Race Log section? Pretty cool to see all your race side by side and see how you fared in each discipline in AG and overall. For me really highlights how much more I need to work on the run. I know my swimming stinks but it seems to still put me in the middle somewhere, I think every one of my bikes was in the top 20% overall but all my runs were in the bottom 20% LOL funny to run 8:00/mile and still be 7/10 in my AG for one race. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Went to the pool from the gym... tried to save some time by putting on my swim shorts at the gym. That's a first for me. ~Suzy, care to chime in? |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Suzy, no beer / vegetables preferred...I'm drawing a blank. Seriously, I can't help much - I just walk in and start eating. No prep for me. I can review the h*ll out of food though. Anyone deal with Vitamin D deficiency? I just got my blood work back from my physical and I am WAY low. The doc said this would explain why I want to sleep 24 hours a day. He also said it would help to explain my fairly recent loss of motivation to train and my slight weight gain. My sleepiness, loss of motivation, and weight gain all roughly align. So now the question is why? I start a supplement tomorrow and will take it for 4 months and then get retested. |

Yep - did a couple of rounds on the super vit D supplement (once a week, like 10,000 iu). No improvements for me. Now taking OTC 2,000 IU daily... Will see again in 5 months if this works. Wife got tested and is on the super vit D's now. Seems to be very common and is only really being tested for recently... |

The rehab saga continues, I am off to see the PT I used last year when I got hit by the bike. Like Tracy, I need to find out the reason for all these soft issue injuries that are knocking me off my game. Thanks for the recipes. If you have others send them my way. I'm doing as much shopping as I can before the weekend. Tony, did you solve our bikes to Lonestar dilema? |

I'm doing as much shopping as I can before the weekend. Tony, did you solve our bikes to Lonestar dilema? There are a couple options as I see it. A. Expensive but Easy 1. Take Bike to LBS, disassembly and packing $50.00 1a. Include a return label in the box. 2. Take bike to Fed Ex, ship to LBS on the Lonestar List ~$70.00 (guessing) 3. LBS in Texas gets the bike, unpacks, basic tuneup, delivers to site, takes it back after the race, packs up and ships $100 (they said they don't exactly have prices set this early but that is the planned price) 4. Ship back home ~$70.00 5. Your LBS puts it back together ?? B. Cheaper but more work 1. Rent Carrying case from LBS ($10/day at one here $75/week at another) 2. Take bike on SW $50.00 3. Put bike together in hotel room 4. Take bike back on SW $50.00 5. Put bike back together while watching TV and drinking beer Right now I am thinking about going with B. Mainly because we have 2 bikes to bring, if it was just me taking 1 I would go with A. |

![]() Got up early this morning to get a nice little swim in. Got to my club only to find a CLOSED sign on the front door. I understand they closed Nov 13th, filed bankruptcy. It's a nice club, can't understand why it's closed. The original owners sold out a while ago, but the new owners had some nice plans of blowing it out and upgrading lots (the drawings were beautiful). Guess those upgrades aren't happening. ![]() Bummer, now I need to find a new place. And yep, we're out some money...have had annual memberships with this place - we just renew each year (dumb us - paid up front). Guess the timing (for me) is ok...but still...bummer |
