roni_runnw - 2009-11-17 10:02 AM Hearing about everyone's training plan start dates is making me feel like a TOTAL slacker. I don't start specific training until the beginning of February for IMCDA, and Lonestar will be a training race for that, so ummm... save me a beer.

Don't sweat it - for you ad Suzy Lonestar is training.  Tony and I have Lonestar on our radar as an "A" race.  It will be fun no matter what.

Roni, do not sweat it.  Like Sam says, I was told I would be finishing up my first training block and my expectation should be to finish the race, not race the race.  Honestly, I really don't give a crap how well I do on this one....more excited to see the gang and enjoy myself.  The zero pressure mentality is the way I am going and you should too.  My only nerves will be in the salty bayou with some whales or sharks or something......

They may be going down there?  I am telling you all though... If you know how to take your pedals off (REVERSE THREAD), and unscrew a few screws..... It is not hard!  Don't be afraid to try this out on your own.

Yeah, last I looked they wern't going to Lonestar.

I would imagine you take the pedals, wheels, & handlebars off, pretty easy right there.  All you need is a pedal wrench and a hex wrench and you should be good to go.

Oh and if you use speedplays you don't need a pedal wrench, any old one that fits will do.

I hear you on the Bayou, Suzy. My Mom lived in Houston years ago, and she told me to watch out for ALLIGATAR GARS!?! I thought they were freshwater! I'm used to swimming in the NorthWest cold water lakes and rivers, where the fear that something may bite me is completely irrational not an actual possibility. Well, at least we won't have surf to deal with

Sam and Tony- Thanks for the clarification on the emails. Although Sam and John smack talk is my favorite.

Roni- if it makes you feel any better, other people have already started their training plans for CA 70.3 (march 26) and I am still training for this crazy marathon!  Will not start really training until 14 weeks out!  oh well, it will definitely be a training race only...  I just want to make it through the swim as usual...

oh, and john and sam, please keep up the smack talk, I love it!

Yeah slacker. You're the only one I know who does a marathon as a warm up for a longer race.

Do you think they'd let me just run the whole 70.3? Nah, I actually did get back in the pool and on the bike this week.  So I'm heading in the right direction.

I just came back from seeing my PT.  This guy has gotten me through a lot in the years we have worked together.  He isn't convinced based on his workup this is a soft tissue injury.   Believes it is a stress reaction, a pre-cursor to a stress fracture and that it wouldn't show up in the xray I had yesterday.  Bottom line is he asked me not to run until I am pain free walking and even then if I take one step and it hurts running to stop immediately.   I am not to attempt running for at least 10 days, but could be off as much as 3-4 weeks.
