I don't want to jinx anything... but I'm apparently getting a formal job offer tomorrow!!

There's still a background check to be done and as long as I pass that, I could be one of the gainfully employed and at a job on May 13th.  WOOT!!!

WHOOOO HOOOO!!!   yayyyyy!

NRG42 - 2013-04-18 11:22 PM I've eaten my breakfast, drank the full portion of juice and ate my lunch.....its going to be a long afternoon.

Sometimes I think what's for dinner when I'm still having lunch.

The main topic at most Filipino meals is where/what we will be going/eating for the next meal.  It was crazy when I went to Manila.  I would be stuffing my face with rice, longganisa, and pandesal and everyone was talking about going to Kenny Rogers Chicken for lunch and what everyone was going to order.

Meals and food are a big deal with Filipinos for some reason.  Part of the culture.

BUT, unlike me/Americans.  They don't stuff their faces every meal.  They eat light and often.  That was my downfall when I visited.  I ate like every meal was my last and didn't know how they could be thinking about food 3 hours after the last meal.  They didn't help because again, food is a big deal and they kept offering me more food and piling it on my plate.  I didn't know how to say no.

YES!

But unlike Filipinos, Indonesians seem to stuff themselves ... but like Filipinos, they stay tiny. Can't figure!

Pilipinos... they can't pronouce F's  Tongue out

Neider can Indonesians.

For two days now, someone has reheated leftovers for lunch and it smells like burn hair to me.  Blech.

I know...  I just finished filling out and submitting the background check stuff online.  I have NO IDEA what my address was 10 years ago!  I also had NO IDEA of some of the exact dates of employment for the last 10 years.  Hopefully my guesses were close enough to the real thing.

1) congrats!!
2) I totally round on employment dates. Everything ends up being August of whatever year because I have no clue. I just know I was there for 2 years or 4 years or what not.

thanks - that makes me feel a LOT better.  I was scrambling around trying to find old employment records to be able to even specify which years I was there.

It also doesn't help that I've moved around quite a bit and they also wanted 10 years of address history.

BUT - it's submitted now, so I *should* know in about 5 days or so that everything is good to go.... or not.

You have to give your entire work history and school history to the PE board.  If there is even ONE MONTH unaccounted for, they flag you.

But like Lisa, I just round to the month and skip any short periods of unemployment and just say I worked through it.  It's funny, they will flag any missing months, but never really check if what you put down is correct.  Now sure how they could except maybe by tax returns or something.

But it was rough trying to remember the month you were hired 20 years ago, then when you quit and started the next job, etc.  This is my 6th company now?  I barely remember what YEAR I quit/started...

That was my problem too... though thankfully I was given 90 days leeway for unaccounted for employment time - so that was nice.  the only times when I've had that amount of time off from working was either when I started working as a teenager if you count the part-time gigs while in school, and when I moved to Chicago.

Still, it was a huge pain in the butt!  Are they just testing my memory, if so they'll find out soon enough how much my memory sucks.

We need to bring back the art of a hand written letter. Today I got a hand written letter in the mail from an Uncle of mine at my office.  He has a smartphone, computer, email, etc, but he took the time to hand write a 3 page letter.  Without getting into the topic of the letter, it was really special and heart felt.  It meant a lot more being hand written.

So that being said, we should all give it a shot.  Write a nice hand written letter to someone you love and drop it in the mail.  See what happens.

That's an incredibly great idea.  A woman that I went on one date with, but have remained friends with, sent me a card back in March wishing me luck on my first HIM.  It was such a small and simple effort, but it really meant a ton to me.   I guess it's knowing that someone actually took some real time from their life for YOU, and didn't just hammer it out impersonally on a keyboard and send it to the printer.

Now, I just need to think of someone to write to.

Good point and my spelling is awful.  I finally figured out that the trick is to have Word up on the computer as I am writing something out.
