Master 1655 NJ | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Still have a 5.5 hr. ride this week and a 6 hr. ride next week. One more LONG run and a few 8 - 10 milers but that doesn't even count at this point does it?? Im not willing to commit to any time goals other than spending less time on the run than on the bike. |

I think that is a fantastic goal! I might have to add that to my list |

Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread The thought of the bib numbers makes me really nervous. I know it's coming soon, but that bib number just makes it all the more real. The last few days I have been checking (nervously) for bib numbers. Am I the only one???? |

I know it's coming soon, but that bib number just makes it all the more real. The last few days I have been checking (nervously) for bib numbers. Am I the only one???? nope - you're not alone. I want taper. I don't want taper. I want my bib #, I don't want my bib #. I am one big contradiction. I cry when I think of the enormity of the race, I cry when I think of crossing the finish line. I don't want to ride long anymore, I want to continue training b/c then the race isn't too close....I can't even imagine my mental state once taper starts! My family's gonna disown me! One thing that really did help today was getting into a huge tickle fight w/ my daughters - really calmed me and got me refocused. |

Regular 70 in a pool, on a bike, or up the trail | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread eburg - 2009-10-09 6:41 AM So....When does your Taper start ? I managed to get through a 20 mile run this evening (Friday), which was actually 18.5 plus a 1.5 walk. Next weekend is 20 + 2 = 22 total. From there it's a three week taper, except not really. Although the 22 is the last of my long runs, the following weekend I'm going to do a "self-guided" HIM. It'll be at IM effort levels, mostly for pacing/eating/transitioning. I'm starting from the fitness center where I swim. Then I've got a 30 mile out and back for 60 total. The cool thing is it goes past my place at the 12 and 48 mile mark, so I've got a built in food stop. Back at the fitness center I head a half mile down the road to the Greenway where I've been doing my run training. Like a lot of you have mentioned, I am on a rollercoaster ride between panic at not being ready yet and an insatiable desire for the darned thing to just get here already. Keep going strong! |

Master 2005 South Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread 6.5 hour brick this morning, 5 hour ride tomorrow...then I'm not sure what lies ahead, except next sunday I'm doing an oly followed by a 4 hour ride I don't really freak out about the race. What I do is just look at what I have to do for that day. Today, it's a long brick...I focus on that and don't worry about the rest. Same thing race day...wake up - it's just another day - and do what's on my plan works for me, anyway. Be safe out there! My Coach, who is in Kona for the world championships, was just hit on his bike yesterday He was very lucky! He is going to race today...but you never think it'll happen to you, right? Be extra careful because those drivers aren't!!! |

Master 1779 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Mimi- I'm also working through the plan one day at a time. Or some days one set at a time! But after reading the posts on taper, I checked out my plan. I've still got a lot to do between now and IMFL. It decreases but not as much as I would like! I woke up at 3:30 a.m. today. I should have started my 5.5 hour trainer ride (raining here) but went back to bed. Now I'm having problems getting motivated to get started! Luckily Kona is on TV today.

I despise the pool. I can barely put together 500 yards without going insane. I love swimming in the lake and 12000 feet seems to go by in no time. However, you put me in a pool and I am lucky to get in 12 laps By the way............ 27 Days 22 Hours 31 Minutes |

Renee, I have a few tough weekends to get through too...I know a "quality one" coming up in a few weeks that "looks easy on paper, but is tough"...BUT, I put it out of my head until the time. We're going to feel so awesome the week before the race, like a rocket ready to shoot out of a cannon!!!! |

Did the same thing yesterday. Went out for a six mile run and then came back, put on Kona, and logged 5 hours on the trainer. It was a great race to watch. Although it was a little frustrating when the feed dropped right before Chrissie crossed the finish line. Anyways................26 Days, 21 Hours, 59 minutes |

Champion 7704 Williamston, Michigan | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Honestly I don't have time to look ahead on the schedule. I barely have time to get the scheduled training done nevermind worrying about what I am supposed to do tommorrow. Then again my training kind of stays the same its just the details that vary. I'm so not a nervous racer. Matter of fact race chaos tends to really me off because I don't get it. There so much more in life to freak out over. You dont' have cancer you aren't dying your family is not dying its a RACE. HAVE FUN!!!
Long run and bike. I nearly melted but not quite. New bike ROCKS |

Member 42 Mobile | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I am reading everyone's comments on race insanity and am glad I am not alone!! I admit I am nervous. Whenever I start looking at the BIG picture and start feeling overwhelmed I ask that age-old question....how do you eat an elephant? one bite at a time. Thats how I have gotten thru each leg of the training battle. It still works to help me focus on the now and finishing the next session of the training. |

Extreme Veteran 481 The Land of Mickey-Orlando | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Im glad to see that there are many that are nervous and a few that have their heads together. Me? Well...its those little things called cut offs that have me tied up in knots!! (and Im not talking about the Daisy Duke variety of cut offs)! I agree with Socks that the race is suppose to be fun...but you need to tell the butterflies in my gut that. On three seperate occassions this week, my workout has been interupted by problems with my business, bike problems or my house!! My workouts this weekend were short compared to what they were suppose to be (3 hour ride instead of 6 hours) so I am hoping that this last weekend will be awesome!! |

Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'm living vicariously through all of you! I'm not quite ready to commit to an Ironman, but one day I know I will. St. Andrews campground is in the panhandle, and I will be camping there the weekend of IMFL. The nice lady at the campground said the run course passes through some of the campground, so I will be cheering and cowbelling as you pass! Best of luck to all. I love hearing about your journey. There comes a point where you have to let that go, tell yourself you have done everything you can to get yourself as ready as possible to the best of your ability and trust the training. I'd hate for you to not enjoy it |
