Fred D - 2012-10-19 7:39 PM Tried to bike today but hit the wall completely. Actually struggled to get home, which likely relates to the 100 hours I have worked out of the last 7 days. Hoping I can rest tonight....

Well that is why I gave you Kudos Smile

Don't you carry a gu or 2 on your rides?

I think he needed a pillow or 2.

I can relate.  I've been working too much as well, and set out this morning for a 12 mile run that became 3.  Just back from a long day at a conference and planning to sleep in...   Hope you can do the same.

Fred D - 2012-10-19 6:37 PM HRT for women does not have any PED effect. Testosterone improves performance in most endurance sports and adds muscle mass. So, no HRT for women in the estrogen discussion is not banned and not an issue at all in the PED discussion. The supplementation of testosterone in men is VERY controversial at this time and has far less data tan tat for HRT in women. This is not to say 'take HRT' but rather that it is not in anyway similar to testosterone for men. Additionally oral contraceptives are not banned as they have no PED effect.

Good to know. I looked at the banned substance list, and honestly, I couldn't tell. Remember, I'm not the kind of doctor that actually helps people. Smile

Not that I'm going to run out and start HRT . . .

After being sick for one week and then travelling for work the next, I got out on the bike for the first time in almost two weeks this morning and I paid for the time off!  I had a tough time with keeping power up and just didn't feel great.  It probably didn't help that it was windy and started raining on me after about an hour.  Oh well, it's better than being on the trainer!

For anyone who hasn't seen this before (and for those who have, it's always a good reminder), here is Joel Filliol's blog post on the 20 rules for swimming faster in a triathlon.

http://joelfilliol.blogspot.ca/2012/01/most-popular-post-on-this-bl...

Lots of good advice about what to do to get faster in the water and what better time than as the weather gets colder!

I am really hoping Andrew can put together a solid race.  He's had a lot of bad luck this year.  So far so good.

thank god for rule number 9.  I cannot count strokes to save my life.  I can swim...or count.  Not both.  Doesn't say what to do when you have no access to a pool though.

Become a duathlete

Or just do what I do, swim 5x/year whether you need to or not - at least one of those being in a race.

So I have a long run on today at 6 miles. This will be my 4th week of Barry P and I haven't adjusted the mileage at all. I am thinking of a slight bump in mileage, currently at 20 miles a week. I could go with 2.5/5/7.5. What do you folks think?

I suspect that this wouldn't be an issue for you - assuming that you're rested up before you do the increase.

Posted some stuff on ST on doping, but honestly I am pretty amazed that amateurs do this stuff. Sport to *me* has always been pure. No not the olympics or professional sport, but rather the sports that *I* am competing in. It's your training, genetics, nutrition, race day execution, equipment etc vs. everyone else's. Drugs you put into your body never entered my mind as an option that we were all considering and if anything I must be naive.

Just wondering how many amateurs are doing this.

I'm very interested in the obtaining a TUE for T thread over there; not because I want or think I need it but because it appears a couple of anti-aging docs are posting. I'd be curious about our doctors' take on their views as it seems to run contrary to what I know about HRT and also to the few studies I've read on the subject.

Shane, you are a man after my own ... practice.

Sometimes I even combine all 5 into 1 mammoth swim

Very excited though, going on a "snorkeling trip" tomorrow = lots of yap time with my OWS coach and lots of OWS time for me seeing really cool critters.

Managed to get out on the road bike today.  I'm on call so I have to stay 1) in cell range, which is harder to do then you think out here, and 2) close to home.  The map of my ride is pretty funny.  Lots and lots of hills as I randomly rode around various hoods nearby.  I turned up this road that was called Summit Rd. and I was thinking this is not so bad, most of the ones I have been on today have been worse.  Then I turned the corner...

Whoo ! Hoo! It's stuff like this that keeps me going...he had a rough year - but kept plugging on...that is such great news...thanks for posting.

Great job Andy! You did it! Fantastic. (Now - don't do what I did and sign up for another HIM in 2 months - it won't work out well). So, so proud.
