mr2tony - 2009-02-11 2:08 PM OK Kids I got the scoop: 105 floors (Sears Tower) took my coworker 40 minutes. His 11-year-old daughter did it in 32 minutes and the elite males (who knew!) did it in under 20.

Holy kamoly. Do the elites just like, slap down a cafeteria tray, plonk their azzes on it, and coast down? <20, I just can't imagine!

I do believe tis is going UP? As in `Climb the Tower' ... or am I wrong?

If it were down.  I could win it ONCE.  It would take me about 10 seconds to get to the bottom.....

Oh man, that's a pretty good 'pun'.  I wished I would have thought about that when I started to solicit for pledges.

I could have use a play on words (steps, step up, etc...)

So I looked at the sears tower climb results.  A couple mofos climbed 103 floors in just under 14 minutes.  That's sick....

Do I wanna run a full aero bar this weekend, or just a normal road bar with aero extensions?

Decisions, decisions...

Full.  For no particular reason other than they look cool to me.

Good luck.

TAN, is this good or bad?

At this point I've convinced, or have almost convinced 7 or 8 people from the bar I drink at to do a triathlon.  I've also talked to the owner about sponsoring a "team" with some custom tri-jerseys with their logo on them.  He was receptive.

hey all... I've been a little pre-occupied... from my blog today...

This past weekend, my wife and I noticed that our 2-year old had a number of dark bruises.  Being that he is two, we are used to seeing bruises on his shins.  But they are usually lighter bruises.. this is typical.  The bruises we saw now however... bigger, darker, on his chest, on his back, on his hip... these were not ordinary bruises.  So today I took him to the pediatrician.  He agreed, these didn't look normal. So we took some blood and ran some tests.

Results came in and we found his platelet count was in the 4000's.  The low end of normal, if I heard the doc correctly is 150k.  None of the data showed anything horrendous like leukemia or lymphoma... instead it's something called ITP.  I don't know what it stands for... but essentially his antibodies, now that they kicked the RSV's @$$, are in berserker mode.  The antibodies are now attacking the platelets.  So this is all very treatable, but it has to be done in the hospital since it is all intravenous treatment.

So I got to ambush my son twice... once at the doc's lab and again tonight at the hospital to insert the IV.  yay.

He should be in the hospital 2 or 3 days, but we are at the mercy of the platelet count.  We need to see it start to go back up.

This sounds like a great idea, then you'd have a great place to go refuel and recover after the race.  A bar!

just checking in here... they gave him some stuff last night and he didn't react well... he could have reacted worse, but my wife was worried.  and they will probably have to restick his IV... nurse this morning couldn't get blood for labs.  ugh.
