That will never happen. And 4 a.m.? That's just painful. golfpro - 2010-01-07 9:56 AM Nicole83 - 2010-01-06 9:04 AM Gooooooood morning everyone. I am interested in tips, if anyone has any, on how to wake up earlier to train before you go to work. In my case I would need to be up by 5 at the latest. I currently sleep until about 6:30, so that's a doosie for me. With Chris moving back here full time at the end of the month, I'm not going to be able to play at the gym until 9 every night without him feeling neglected. hmmm... 1. get up at 4am- yes that early- drink coffee for 1/2hr... 2. have someone w.out with you virtually... yes online buddy workout via live video feed or a real life person next to you working out (Chris). 3. Like someone suggested - going to bed early.. you will want to hit the sack early if you wake up @ 4. 4. Submit your number to the group for early morning harrasment. |

Veteran 104![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!One of the things that helps me a lot when I need to get up early is to prepare everything I need for my workout or ski day right before bed. The act of gathering up clothes and gear and putting it in a bag just seems to stamp the 'get up early' idea on my brain, and I often don't even need the alarm. I start waking up and looking at the clock an hour before the alarm is set to go off. This might not work if you get up that early every day, but for me it works well a few times a week. Pro 4824![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Houston | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Ken is up by 4:30 every morning so he can call you. He is one of those peole whose feet hit the ground before he turns the alarm off. On his run days he goes out to run 5-6, showers, takes one of our boys to feed his pig, takes him to school then drives 37 miles to work and is there before 7. Of course it is 9:30 and I am still in my jammies nursing my coffee. He's the bird, I'm the owl. ![]() |

Veteran 104![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Something else that seems obvious on its face but is often forgotten is that we're much more likely to give up the comfort of a warm bed and extra sleep for something we're intrinsically motivated to do. This means that even though you may love triathlon, it's not enough to tell yourself, "Gee, I can't wait to do my workout today." Sometimes workouts are drudgery. A way around this is to always set a small goal of some kind, like: "tomorrow I will swim a sub-10 500," or "tomorrow I will try that new abs workout I saw on BT." Know what you're going to do when you go to bed, and make some part of it a goal to be met. Nicole83 - 2010-01-07 8:04 AMGooooooood morning everyone. Nicole, Go to bed earlier and disable the snooze button. If that doesn't work use peer pressure. Post your phone number and you can receive a wake up call every morning at 5am from the group. Should be interesting........ So basically, suck it up buttercup? And there's no way I'm giving you freaks my phone number. If we are freaks, that must make you a Super Freak, she's super freaky! Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!JP & Thomas...and the other cold weather riders out there. Do you wear face coverings, full shoe covers, leg warmers or full pants/tights, and what kind of gloves? (sorry multiple questions in one) But seriously, I have worn layers for cold rides... and face, ears, hand & feet freeze the F' off even with gear on. Granted I am not a 'cold weather' guy like some of you northerners or transplanted northerners... just curious. I don't want to drop several hundred bucks on cold weather gear that I would only use a few times a year. More worthwhile to me to invest in a trainer. |
