Training update:

Ok, here's the real update.  We've been home for a couple days now and things are going well.  The kids love the new guy and we're pretty fond of him too.  I'm spending a lot of time with the older kids so Bev and Nicholas can rest a bit.  Today we were looking at bigger vehicles, doing everything I can to avoid a van....

and the pics.....

The kids' first meeting

A little post-partum warm up

I just copied these over from the kids' blog.  We have hundreds more pictures, but frankly I'm too tired/lazy to resize them from the card.

Thanks for all of the well wishes.

Great pictures Matt!  Very cute.

Give into the mini-van, they are awesome, fits kids, bikes and all associated junk without having to take anything apart.

Calling all Canadians!! - I might get the opportunity to work in British Columbia for 6-12 months next year, which areas would you recommend considering I have 3 kids aged 13, 10 and 8 and I'm obviously into swbkrun as well as skiing???

Just move into Seattle.  It's only a couple hours south of Vancouver, and 3 hours south of Whistler/Blackcomb.  You can do that commute everyday... "It's opposite of the traffic!"

I hope you jump at the chance... it really is a beautiful part of the country, and the people pretty much rock, too. And when you are living there, come and spend a weekend with us here! We'll take ya for a jaunt up the ole' Cougar Mountain. If you're nice to us, we may buy you beer and/or coffee after the run (depending on if it's before or after 10am, ha ha)!!

Victoria is one of our favorite places. It reminds us of Europe. Granted we haven't lived there, just visit about once a year...!!

I think once you let the kids outnumber the parents, you pretty much have to get a minivan...

Great pictures!

Great pics Matt. I agree with Tony, give in and get a mini van. It is even endorsed on ST as a good triathlon vehicle.

Love the pics, Matt!  I hear great things about the mazda cx-9 for parents of 3+.

Previous weather forecast of rain for tomorrow now looks FANTASTIC for my first outdoor ride of the year.   I never thought I could be this excited over a bike ride.

My new trisuit from Epix Gear arrived yesterday! It has little pockets on the legs for gels like a De Soto, and a single zippered pocket on the back, I have never had a zipper pocket before. I will be wearing it in my first race next weekend. Waiting for the sponsored athlete T-shirts that I am supposed to wear post race that are supposed to be here this week.

Great pics Matt!  Minivans SUCK but they do hold everyone's crap and they really help when it's time to step up to the carpool plate.

Unfortunately we had to break down and get a swagger wagon!  It is great for Tri's, and we purchased our at a great used with more bells and whistles than we could have imagined.  I like it, because it has so many fun things it is like driving the Starship Enterprise.  They can be lots of fun!

Nice work Matt! you are outnumbered. Suck it up now.

I fought it for a while, but caved and we bought an Odyssey. Had it for until youngest was almost 4. Bought a XC90 now. Michelle just wantes to be the 'Volvo driving soccer mom.' And honestly, it sucks compared to the van. No room in the back. Doesn't drive as smooth. crapper gas mileage.

That is an awesome family photo.  Everyone looks so happy.  Congrats!

We've got 3 kiddos, and I drive a Ford Excursion.  I love it, holds everyone and everything.  We got the model with the middle bucket seats so no one is crawling over the middle seat to get to the back row.  Unfortunately they quit making them...I won't go with anything else until mine dies....8 yrs and 145k miles we're going strong.

BTW - Trevor is just superman being overwhlemed with three.  We were overwhlemed with two, but continued on.Laughing

We've got a Toyota Kluger with 7 seats, it's great! Very smooth and fun to drive and on longer trips - or shorter! - we can split them up and keep them out of pinching, hitting, biting distance...

Our other car is an old Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun which just keeps going, it's a 1995 model but nothing ever goes wrong with it and it's got 2 flip down seats in the boot so you can make it 7 seats too. We quite often need to drive off road or on the beach so we'll keep it till it dies then get another one.

My main priority when car-shopping now is can I imagine traveling 6 hours with 3 kids in this?!
