Don't hesitate to ask questions, there's enough well educated people here...

I think there's plenty of educationally challenged here as well   -    John, you listening?  Andy?  Trevor?  Tony?

Welcome, Eric.

Eric, welcome to the group.  I am an Army brat myself so if you want to join in the mud slinging between John and myself you're welcome. However I have Roni on my team by default of her daughter so the Army most certainly has the beauty advantage. Wink

It looks like Texas is in for some nasty weather.  They are threatening it my way tomorrow but.........

Steve, Doug is the one who knows all the powertap/race wheel info.  I am trying to learn but obviously I am a slow learner.  I am just thankful that since I have the TT bike he wants to get these new toys for MY bike. (guess I'm in trouble if he gets a TT bike of his own).

Rob - sorry to hear you are so under the weather.  Take care of yourself.  You mentioned your training group, how is being a mentor for TNT going?

My group oit jsut the Guelph Triathlon Group. not TNT. I was able to help out at least one person with their swimming. however we haven't done too much. MOre of my mentoring will take place once we get past the new year and really start training for the next season.

Thanks so much for all the inspires and cheers! It's so awesome to have your support... means the world to me! We made it to Redwood City, made sure we could find Huddart Park, ate some dinner, and are now settled in for the night.  I did find out they changed part of the course due to some trail construction, but I'm not really familiar with the course anyway so it shouldn't make much difference to me. I was also told by someone who runs these trails that the elevation gain is quite a bit more than the 4500' listed, but it's a little late for more hill training now I've got a few butterflies tonight, but mostly just excited and ready to do this. I'll be thinking of you all out there and I know it'll help me through the tough parts

Eric- Welcome to the group and thanks for your service!

Rob- I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well I hope you figure out what's going on and feel better soon!

Tracy- I've got your back on the Army/Navy battle. You know those guys don't stand a chance against us

Suzy- Thanks for asking the bike questions. Sorry I'm completely clueless so I have nothing to add, but I'm learning a ton from this discussion.

Kim- Sorry we missed each other, but I'm sure we'll meet one of these times. Go get em, Sunday! Sub 3:30 here you come!!!

lol yeah I saw that in the Texas forums last week.

2-4 inches here it's the heavy wet snow and it's supposed to be in the 20's tonight so it's all going to freeze.

At least you aren't marathon training!  They are calling for 3-4" Sunday-Monday and then a whopper on Wednesday.  Suddenly my running hiatus is less disturbing.

Thanks to you, I got a few interesting posts on roadbikereview.com.  Also found out that one of wheels Paco recommended doesnt work with the PT so a little more work to do here....but at least some more possibilities.  Bike people are very ready to provide their two cents.

Off to finish the tree and decorating....

Yup.  This is one of my training partners.  She's training right now for a IM, not to say that she won't do WS again.  Last year she torn an achilles and was pulled from the race.  The year before that the race was cancelled due to the fires.

She's a very cool girl - down to earth and very fast!!  Check out her training logs, she's been doing some crazy speed work lately.

well.  for old ladies you just have to finish.   for 45-49 young ladies, yes.  6:10.

edit.  ha. typing my reply to you brought back one of the best memories from my first season.  liz heckmann going by me around mile 40 up in lubbock.  70-74 year old a/g winner.

Think I'm going for this one.  Family decided they liked vacationing at IM, so now my out-of-town races have a vacation factor requirement.   I'll have to try one of the 250 slots/time qualifying.

Funny they still list the Duke Half as a qualifier, yet Duke Half is "officially"no more.

Ok, I've got a BEER question for you aficionados.

Sam Adams Utopias... I want some but cannot find it locally.  eBay sellers are topping $250-300 per bottle, but I should be able to buy it somewhere for closer to $150.  Any helpful hints?  I've called all of the local places here and they've all sold out - normally only ordering 2-3 bottles per year.

Otherwise I found 1 place that has 2 bottles (2003 and 2007) but will be sampling the beers sometime in January.  Rec. serving size is 2oz.

You can find info on the SA site under 'Extreme Beers'
http://www.samueladams.com/world_of_beer.aspx
