mehaner - 2012-10-19 9:35 AM i am so over 4 seasons.  i miss living on the florida panhandle, spending thanksgiving day swimming while the turkey cooks, and playing beach volleyball on superbowl sunday.

Now THIS sounds perfect!

Come to CA you get that but with no humidity and no southerners

The only offices in CA are one in San Fran (which I don't really consider a 'warm' climate) and LA.  And I have NO desire to live in LA... if only they had one in San Diego!

It's pretty much perfect here as far as weather goes!   Lows in the winter of 50 and highs in the summer of 85 (at least at the coastal areas where I live).  It probably rains 20-30 days per year, but our rain is nothing like those other downpours you see in other parts of the country.

The downside is the cost of living is crazy high!  I can't imagine it's much worse than Chicago, but it is pretty bad.  We call it the sunshine tax.

san diego is my number one choice to relocate to and never leave.  my very favorite city!

Me too!!

Two daughters have spent significant time in CA.  One is still there.  I like to visit.  I could see living there too.  I can turn off the accent.  I wouldn't give myself away.

TW

I know a few transplants from the south that live here and they are all great people.

PS For the out of state people LA and Orange County are NOT the same not even close.

Sorry to interrupt but I have to go soon. Can you all get to the part where you say what you'll be up to over the weekend. Thanks.

Renting a car and going into the Rockies.  Wedding to attend.  And the WORST thing, flying back to Vegas on Sunday.

If I had something exciting going on I'd share .. but I don't.  Will be a very boring weekend!

A mildly fun weekend is planned.  A daughter is coming and we are going to the lake house for Saturday evening.  I will make shrimp Florentine.  I expect there will be a fire either in the firepit or fireplace for evening conviviality and confab.  It will be the first fire of the season.  The fun will basically just be Saturday evening because everyone has to get back to work next week.

Over here its only partially different. Stop off on the way home and bet college football games (its legal here). Then dinner later with some Venezuelan friends. Venezuelans are crazy. They're like lets meet at midnight. I'm like, no. Tomorrow workout in the morning, then the cleaning lady comes but I hate being at home when she's there so will think of a reason to leave for a few hours. Tomorrow night older daughter has a party so I'll get the joy of getting to pick her up at like 2:00 am with instructions not to get too close to the house. Sunday morning bike/run (weather permitting). Sunday afternoon long walk with the dog now that her leg has healed.

Wish you all a good weekend...

Tonight:  3 hour run, most likely in the cold and rain

Tomorrow morning:  Swim in Lake Michigan and try not to turn into a human Popsicle

Tomorrow afternoon:  Going to Northwestern to watch the Nebraska game

Tomorrow night:  recovering (hopefully with wine)

Sunday morning:  5.5 hour bike ride in the cold and hopefully not raining followed by a 30 minute run

Sunday night: trying not to die.  (hopefully with wine

You can dooooo eeeeet!
Looking back, the long-long-long runs were what gave me the biggest confidence boost. Throw in not-ideal weather and when you finish you'll KNOW you can do this.

Visualization helped me a ton, too. "Seeing" the crowds, "feeling" the energy, "turning" into the finish chute at the end of the run. Powerful.

It did give me quite the confidence boost after doing the 2.5 hour run last week - but that was in great weather, and by the time I got back, I was MORE than ready to be done... this is just 30 more little minutes - I should be able to do that, right?

Visualization is something that I'm no stranger to from my competing days, but when it comes to running - I'm more of a "must distract my brain from this horrible running crap that I'm doing", so I'm not sure that thinking about the race will help... but I'm willing to give it a try!

Only 2 more episodes left til I'm finished season 2 of the Walking Dead!

Finish them now, or give myself a bit of a break?

How are you doing such things?

I caught up on Strike back, and now moved on to Homeland.  Just 2 more for season one then move to season two.  I can't get Walking dead on  OnDemand...
