bcraht - 2013-04-13 2:18 PM I had a bit of a downer start to my day...went out for my run, and just up the street there was a poor wittle squished kitty in the middle of the road...  I promised myself if it was still there when I finished my run I would deal with it.  It was.  I did.  Thankfully it looked like it was quick for the poor little thing.  I wish people who lived near busy roads wouldn't let their kitties outside. Frown

That breaks my heart.  I tried to save a hit kitty one night but he didn't make it.  I was just glad that he got taken off the road somewhere safe and I petted him while he passed.  That was very kind of you to get that poor baby out of the road.  I too wish people wouldn't let their cats out - it's why mine are inside.

Thank you for doing that Brie.

amd723 - 2013-04-13 2:53 PM Hey Salty,Just read that Sister Madonna is running Boston (then a week later doing NO 70.3, then a week later St Anthony's, then a week later another 70.3), so in case you need more motivation: don't let this 82 year old nun beat you!

Heh heh.  She's quite something.  I got to watch her cross the finish line in Calgary.

DUDES! Cannondale is having a demo at my LBS on Sunday!!  I haven't ordered my bike yet, so I can go and try a bunch of different ones!

I'll probably end up loving the same one, but who can turn down RIDING NEW BIKES?

Have a great time! I am also going to test a Cannondale CAAD 8 sora today, plus a Focus culhebro with the 105 groupset. I hope i don't drool too much and make myself look an idiot.

Great 'pet has a pet' stuff, those bunnies look cute and are the ideal size for a snack if they misbehave!

Yanti, you posted a link to a Sheila T swim drill thing. Any chance you could repeat it for me please. Pretty please.....with cherries on top.

Muskrat. Seems you have had some good words of wisdom from our more 'sage' type contributors. I won't spoil that by adding my inane jabber. I look forward to following your journey.

bcraht - 2013-04-14 1:11 PM Are you at home right now, Yanti, or in Jakarta?  Bit of a problem at the airport in Bali today?  Eek!  Thank goodness no one was killed!

I'm in Jakarta. A few of you have asked if I'm here permanently ... hm, well Dub6 said it the best, it's the new normal for now. So I'm here most of the time, with fortnightly-ish reprieves from my sister so I can go back to Bali for a few days and mess up the Funny Farm for the Hobbit Maid to put it back in order when I go again.

Unfortunately in the middle of all this my poor brother had to have an emergency appendectomy in Dubai on his way back here from the U.S. (he was meant to be gone a week) but the illness and having to wait for flight clearance delayed him another 2 weeks. Very relieved he's well and received excellent med care in the UAE, but it also put the entire weight of dealing with things here on me, including my father's official memorial on 4/25.

We'll see how Mutti does, but also, how we're going to reorganize the house staff. By we, I suppose I mean I. Sigh. Last night I was ready to remind them all of the very lenient penalties in this country for murder, and prison time often entirely mitigated with blood payments.

To get me to this point, there has to be repeated incidents in which Mutti's health, safety, or well-being was put at significant risk.

Now, a bit more on topic, yes, very glad no one was seriously hurt in the airline incident. Let's just say that budget airlines here give a whole new meaning to the word "cheap" and "no-frills." That particular airline has had 6 crashes in 10 years (one resulting in 25 deaths) and innumerable other safety incidents. That is a VERY high rate. Air traffic industry training, certification, ongoing safety QC, technology, and infrastructure leave a LOT to be desired in this country.

That said, I'm thrilled because at least for the next week, everyone will be on their toes and Lion Air has slashed its prices dramatically. My sister's flying in to Jakarta and out, and I'm taking a few days to go back to Bali while she's here, so this is excellent.

I love ya yanti. Your resilience and still the time to help others when your own needs are currently pretty significant astound me every day. Even if I gave it all up to sit on my couch I'd still be a part of the manatee pod!!!
