Flip that stem over!

How many spacers were moved when the re-fitting was done?

Looks like almost a stem's worth.

Why should the stem be flipped?

That's what I thought, he dropped the bars a good bit.

ETA: I added Sean's bike to the album:

I kind of meant my post to be tongue in cheek.  I'd have to see him on the bike to know if flipping it is a good/bad idea.  Most riders can always use going lower.

This was the first year I volunteered and it was a really good experience. Most everyone was really great but one woman, while stomping her foot, told us to earn our keep and find her a seat. LOL

On yeah, miraculously, with spotty 3G cell service in the shareholder meeting, I'm in for the ascent.

I assume you're talking about SBUX? right?  I don't have holdings outside my mutual funds but I probably should the way my wife spends money there.  I like to invest in companies that I like and have personal experience with like Alaska Air, Tim Horton's, Callaway (when I used to golf), etc. Does one get any special perks as a shareholder?

A strong and consistent ROI?

Some free coffee too. And the shareholders meeting is something a lot of investors view as a "perk" as they get gift bags, free coffee and entertainment.

I think, and this is totally personal, that I prefer to invest with a company that has values that align with mine. Thus far, Howard has not be afraid to take an aggressive stand in controversial issues (race, marriage equality

I could care less about the stem. More important: aesthetics.  I love the orange!

Very nice.  You do know that the nicer the bike the bigger the target on your back and you've painted a big one.  There is a lengthy list of bikes/bikers that you can now never allow to pass you or they will sneer at you.

So, so true!!! I was a total sneer-er, every time I passed those fancy schmancy TT bikes whilst on my pawn shop steed.

On another note, I think it is riding not running that was contributing to my recent foot pain.  Seems really odd but it is when I get off my trainer that I feel those little twinges of PF type pain.  When I stepped on a root several weeks ago that just inflamed what was becoming tender.  I've been riding with Feetures PF sock for added support which seems to help but I am still getting a hot spot on my foot.  Am puzzled?? My road bike shoe with a narrower toe box was much worse than my wider tri bike shoe.  Do you think more padding would help like a gel insert?

That's interesting on your foot. Have you done a bike fit? Did they mess with the cleats w/spacers to get your feet and legs set up right on the pedals? Might be worth checking that.

I refit every couple of years.  I have a cyclocross bike with a different shoe and cleat system so I may see if I have similar issues with that setup.  If not, I'll talk to my fitter specifically about this.  I have a huge power imbalance due to nerve damage in one of my legs and it is the good leg that is causing me problems.  I mash pretty hard on the trainer so might be putting disproportionately high stress on the good foot.  I ride outdoors with higher cadence and less hard grinding so that might help too.

I was having problems on my road bike with The Limb and tons of pain. After my ankle/foot surgery I had a lot of scar tissue build up and I have nerve damage. The scar build up causes my posterior tibial tendon to take a different track now and because of the reconstruction surgery on that tendon it is now too short to go around the scar tissue. Some of the pain presents as PF type pain.

When I was fit for my TT bike they put a spacer in the limb's shoe and moved the cleat location. It took a while for the limb to get used to the spacer and the new position, but now that it is used to everything the pain has been cut almost in half.

My right leg is much stronger than my left, aka The Limb. I have a tendancy to twist on the bike to get more power from the right leg, causing my right foot to go numb. Unfortunately the left foot never goes numb....

Oh, and if you even think about putting a disc on your bike you better be emotionally ready to handle the abuse.  But great motivation.

I have stiff inserts for my bike shoes to provide support.  They help me a lot.  They are the kind that are used for hockey skates, I'm told.

From my initial research, CCM makes an insert that people seem to love.  Are hockey skates sized 1.5 less than shoe size?

I tend to push harder in fear of being hunted rather than being the hunter.  But I guess it can work both ways.

In other news, I saw this morning that there was a tiger shark attack at Hapuna Beach which is where the Hawaii 70.3 swim is.  Freaks me out.  {shudder, shudder}

I always thought the best defense was to swim with folks that you are slightly faster than.  Same concept applies for bears if you are running in the woods.

Nah doesn't matter, you are simply nicer than I am

Oh, and if you even think about putting a disc on your bike you better be emotionally ready to handle the abuse.  But great motivation.

Emotional abuse is a great motivator?  Or avoiding it is?

I tend to push harder in fear of being hunted rather than being the hunter.  But I guess it can work both ways.

In other news, I saw this morning that there was a tiger shark attack at Hapuna Beach which is where the Hawaii 70.3 swim is.  Freaks me out.  {shudder, shudder}

Speaking of hunters!!  Yikes!!  Guess that would be good incentive to swim faster....

I always thought the best defense was to swim with folks that you are slightly faster than.  Same concept applies for bears if you are running in the woods.

I never did that. But still, better get to work like they said ...

did you get your bike for a hundred bucks at the pawn shop? LOL!

I'm not going to be in danger of winning any races anytime soon, but if someone is passing me they're going to be going at a pretty good clip. I doubt many of them won't be trying to take most aero advantage they can too. Salty would probably be one of those exceptions though lol.

On the spacers, looks like there's only one above prior to the fit. Now there's five above and zero below.

<-----------------------  mostly alive!

Sorry for being completely incommunicado lately - but I actually read all 39 pages of the new thread so I'm kind of up to speed... of course, I've forgotten it all by now, but at least I read it in the first place?

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
