Expert 952 Chicagoland | Subject: RE: Chicago Marathon : Official Thread Good for you. I've come to the conclusion that Sunday was my last long run and now I'm just going to a minimal run/bike program to keep my fitness but otherwise take it easy. Probably 3-4 runs a week with 2 bikes and 1 or 2 days off. |

Chicago, IL | Subject: RE: Chicago Marathon : Official Thread Having taken 10 days off, following back-to-back tri's (Steelhead 70.3 on 8/19, and Chicago Oly on 8/26) to nurse my right knee back to health, I managed an easy 13-miler last weekend. Felt really good. Pushed a more aggressive pace last night for another 13 miles. Quads feel a litte stiff today, but happy the knee held up. Planning to do 20-22 on Saturday, and hopefully another 20 on the 22nd, before tapering off with a bunch of easy/slow 6's leading into marathon week. Thinking about throwing a couple of late-season swims in the mix before the lake gets too cold and I'm forced back into the pool. |

I'm doing the CARA lakefront 20 miler on Sunday morning. Is anyone else going to be down there? |

The first groups go off @ 6:30. 312 on tap at the finish should help to carry my clydesdale a$$ through it. |

Master 1730 Straight outta Compton | Subject: RE: Chicago Marathon : Official Thread I got my participant guide in the mail today. I'm pretty pumped to be in Wave 1, corral E. I'm also intrigued by the fact that the course map has 7 McDonald's locations marked on it. Sausage McMuffins, anyone? |

How strict are they on the bib/corral thing? Can I move back from J to K? I actually called them last year when they got the shamrock shuffle mailing list cross connected with the marathon list and I got alarming emails about my corral assignment. Can't remember the details exactly but there was enough confusion that I wanted to check with a live human. I either got someone right away or left a message and they called right back so maybe just call them and ask. Maybe they can shed some light on it... Anyway, in the front they are very strict but not sure how hard they will be further back, especially someone wanting to move back. At the very least I suppose you could stand along the very side in front of the start line and wait for her to catch up? I think you could do that if you were waaaay over to the side. and she knew what side to look for you? IDK. Or she could just move to the very front and you could move to the very back and you can practically hold hands over the rope.... |

Expert 952 Chicagoland | Subject: RE: Chicago Marathon : Official Thread lisac957 - 2012-09-20 9:54 AM I believe they only frown on people moving forward in corrals, not back. You could always email and ask But I really don't think it'd be a problem to start one corral down..I got moved from corral M to corral J... How strict are they on the bib/corral thing? Can I move back from J to K? |

Can I move back from J to K? Not a problem going backwards. My wife was in B and moved back to C with me a few years ago. Then she promptly left me in the dust after 4 miles of running together. |

Extreme Veteran 422 Somewhere, British Columbia | Subject: RE: Chicago Marathon : Official Thread So for me, after a lot of discussion between my coach and myself, it will only be a half... Coach said not enough miles logged in to do this without risk of injury... so I'll pull myself out at the 13.1 mark. I'm kind of sad for this but in the mean time, I'm glad I will be part of the experience. Next year, I'll be back again for sure |

Veteran 513 Chicago (Old Town) | Subject: RE: Chicago Marathon : Official Thread Yeah, for some reason I'm in corrals higher than my brother and my ex, both of whom I'm running with. So, somehow we're going to start in the same corral. Usually, my bib is on under a flannel shirt or other throw-away anyway, so I hope they're not too serious about checking corrals. Especially, that far back. I'm in K, they're in like J or something.. |

Are you going to turn around, or have you come up with an alternate route that will bring you to the finish line? |
