Hmmm.....First the countries I've visited by anyone's standard (touched the ground, left the airport, went thru immigration
USA (obviously)
Canada
Germany
Austria
Switzerland
Iceland
Luxembourg
Leichtenstein (ended up there on a bike ride by accident!)
France
Italy
Netherlands (almost forgot!)
Poland
Czech Republic
Slovakia
Hungary
China
Taiwan (let's not get into the politics of that, but it IS a different visa)
Hong Kong (long before the handover)
Macao (before handover)
Singapore
Vietnam
Laos
Cambodia
Thailand
Malaysia
Indonesia
Myanmar
Nepal
Bhutan
New Zealand
Total of 30. Hope I didn't forget any.
A few more countries I've dubiously "been to"
Japan (thru the Tokyo airport many times, usually eat ramen there--does that count?)
Korea (Seoul airport several times)
And even more tenuously....
India: The plane from Bangkok to Bhutan stopped in Calcutta. We were waiting for some transfers and the AC on the plane wasn't working. It was a nice breezy morning so they let us stand/sit on the boarding steps and tarmac near the plane. Not sure if that counts!
I'm not picky--have found something to like about every country on the list. If I had to pick favorites, USA (of course), Italy, Austria, Laos, Bhutan, Myanmar (nice people, beautiful place, crap govt.), New Zealand. Some of the eastern European countries were pretty grim economy and food-wise when we went, but the region as a whole has good, cheap beer!
