if you start in the last wave and cant finish the bike at a 10mph you need to be pulled from the course anyway...imo. They can't close off roads forever....

That's more than enough time. Everyone will be fine!!!

Due to Medical Issues - i will not be able to participate in the Spirit of Racine HIM. Without going into much detail - i am pretty much cancelling all my races for this year. It is difficult to miss Racine since it is my hometown race. It was the first tri i registered for and i don't want to jeopardize my health any further and have it be the LAST tri i ever participate in. I will see you all down there Saturday and Sunday.

Good Luck to all

Seeing as the swim is point-to-point, how do the athletes get from the transition area down to the swim start? Walk, shuttle?

You get your wetsuit on sometime from Transition until the starting point.  It's a nice 3/4 of a mile (within) walk along the beach.  No foolin'.  You can say that's almost your warmup.

Same here.  That's too bad, but more than likely the best decision.  Take care!

random thought...are transition areas assigned here by name? or grouped by number and you rack where ever within that space?

Anyone needing a meeting point ,parking spot ,place to rest while your friends or family members race, or just want a place to hang out on Saturday or Sunday I’m opening our house up for use. We have the “essentials” to offer, refrigerator (and anything you can find edible or drinkable inside), coolers, bathrooms, lawn space, secure garage, kiddie pool, chairs, it ‘s up to you if any of these things will make the day easier.

We are located at 508 Romayne Ave, Racine, WI 53402

Home phone 262-639-2198

Cell phone 414-975-7676 or 262664-1798 (wife’s phone-paula)

Walking time (with stroller) down to the transition area/finish line is 18 minutes (seems like 5minutes)

I’m doing the sprint on Saturday and then departing for the Alpine Jimmy Buffett concert around 2:00. So access on Saturday to the house will not be all day.

On Sunday I will be up bright and early to looking forward to cheering everyone on. Someone will be at the house all day .

They are assigned to some degree, I can't remember how though, I just remember not liking my position...

They were assigned by bib number, so no jockeying for a good transition spot.  Rack space was pretty dang tight too, though I was lucky -- I was at the end of the rack, and the person directly opposite me never showed up.

maybe you guys can help...should i still do it?

long story short: registered for a HIM that is a week from sunday...got injured, coming back (long swim about 2200 meters, longest bike 45 miles, longest run 1:10/8miles). already got the OK to do the sprint at the same venue, but seriously thinkingabout just doing the HIM. my reasons:

i'll get it out of the way (it was my major goal for the season) and not risk registering for another and getting hurt again

the trip is already planned

a bit less training/more family time

can concentrate on short distances (which i'm better at anyway)

i've already paid the  money

just to say-i did it on a whim!

thoughts, concerns, questions? would you do it?

Are you kidding? I haven't done distances much longer than that and I'm doing it. You're in. I said so.

I'll go to the old adage that it's better to be undertrained than overtrained. I've been seriously slacking on my training since the debacle that was Kansas 70.3 and I'm pretty confident for Sunday. I'm a BOPer as it is, so I don't have any expectations but to cross the finish line sometime in the 7:45-8:15 range.

DO IT!!!!! I signed up for Kansas HIM the day before the race...glad I did!! Sometimes races end up being better when doing them on a whim.  You don't have time to be anxious or nervous! DO IT!!

I'm back o' pack anyway (officially LAST coming out of the water in Florida 70.3 - not near the back... I WAS the back) -- so I agree with going into it to have a good time, even if undertrained. You don't put the same pressure for finishing time, and have fun with the race... do it......
