Anyone interested in IMCOZ training / BT training shirts? ....

Sure...I'd be in for that.  What do you have in mind?

Not entirely sure --- I just saw the IMKY shirts and got a little jealous

I was thinking of something along the lines of training virtually with my friends at BT ... or something similar.
something to train in (a tech shirt) and keep the motivation up !!

Just wondering if I should fly or ship my bike to IM Coz. Any thoughts? In the past, UPS was a great option but not sure if shipping the bikes to Mexico is the best way to go.

Thanks--

I'm flying with mine.  If you look at the race website that's what they recommend.

Anyone else getting excited?  I'm desperately ready for a vacation- can't wait for this IM!

I just dropped my Tri bike off to get fitted back from a Fixie to a regular gears so I can start to pick up more training time on it. Doing Lk Stevens 70.3 as a means to see what I need to focus on, have not booked a flight or a place to stay yet. Do need to get on that.

Has anybody looked into swim skins? I have looked at aqua sphere they seem to be the most cost effective? Just wondering what everybody is going to do for the swim..

I'm going to wear my sports bra/shorts for the swim- I think...  Debating if a one piece might be better since it's a non wetsuit legal swim.  I was hoping to swim in whatever I plan to race in without any changing- but that will depend on what I decide.  I was thinking about  throwing on a light colored bike jersey for the bike so I don't have to worry about my back/shoulders getting sunburned- even with some major sunblock that sun down there is still going to intense.

I did a full change at IM FL and I told myself never again.  I wore my swimsuit under my wetsuit and wanted to change into dry bike clothes because it was REALLY cold that morning. I cannot tell you how difficult it was getting clothes on even after drying off.  My tri top was the hardest thing to get on.  After fighting it with it for what seemed like forever, I finally found someone help me.  Another lady next to me saw me stuggling and offered to help- thank goodness.  All the volunteers were busy so luckily she was nice enough to help out.  It was really frustrating though.  If you do a full change definitely try to snag a volunteer to help you- it will save you time and some frustration   And it wouldn't hurt to practice changing after your swims or something- just to know what to expect.  The one advatange of a full change though is that it does feel really good to put fresh clothes on

I am out.  I ambitously(sp) signed up last year thinking 2 HIMs and a full in my second season, no problem.  Having just finished my second HIM 2 weeks ago, I think my body needs a rest.  There are some other reasons as well, mostly financial and traveling with the kids.  That experiement didn't go so well for FL and CA.  I really, really wanted to do this, but I need to listen to my body (and my wife) on this one.  Good luck to all of you.  I can't wait to hear how it goes.

BTW, if you know of anyone who still wants a spot, I believe they are letting us transfer spots.

I just researched the averages for Cozumel for the month of Nov.  At least the avg falls below 90 degrees- 84 degrees is a lot cooler than what I've training in now.  It will still be humid though but I'm hoping the run course will have some type of breeze??  Avg winds are 9 mph. I  hope they are below avg on race day for my sake on the bike

I've got a room reservation at the Fiesta Americana that I won't be using, so if anyone needs a room this is a good deal. Rate is $112/night and its the closest to transition. The hotel is sold out for those dates.

I assume they will let me change the reservation to your name.

Let me know.

Just checked the website.  Looks like I am going to have a decent race, although I cannot figure how I am going to finish 573rd overall and 52nd in my AG with 0:01 splits:

I'm just now getting around to figuring out the logistics of my trip, where to stay, etc. So I thought I'd ask the collective wisdom here about it all.

Flying there - I'm coming from Seattle, with no direct flights to Cozumel just to Cancun. I think I'll bring my bike in a box and ferry over to Cozumel. Is this going to work, and what should I watch out for.

Staying there - I think the host hotels are full, but I think we wanted a condo anyway since there are 6 to 8 people coming. Is anyone staying in a condo, and if so how did you find it? Agent? Online?

Really?  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  Talk about some major crowding.

I'm not sure how I feel about that... mentally I kind like the idea of three loops... plus you can see friends/ family more often

(and I saw that on ST, Chris... I lurk there but I often end up sitting at my desk and crying about how mean people are )

Ready to continue riding outside right up till the race!

Just got the old CycloCross/Commute bike set up for Fall weather around Seattle. New wheels, disc brakes, put the fenders and lights back on it. I'll keep doing as much riding on the Tri bike as possible, but once it gets wet out, the Tri bike is going on the trainer and the Redline will see duty!
