I'm paying this weekend   If we end up not getting 12 payments do we get a refund.  I'm just thinking of the worst case scenario.

Agreed!  We are a go no matter what at this point.  I will register us before the 6.30 deadline, don't worry.

The team name and pace can change before the race so I'm going to go with the "Live Free or Tri Harder" for now with a pace based on those I've received and go from there.

With that team name we could all run our legs wearing swim goggles and a bike helmet.

Just as an FYI - you don't HAVE to have all 12 members before you register the team. You just have to pay the fee all at once. Which is why I know I tried to make sure that my co-captain and I had 10 other people committed and paid before the deadline, since I didn't want to go out of pocket for that much money. So if you don't get 12 right now, you won't have to run extra legs if you can get someone else on board before September

(Just snooping here occasionally, since I'm captaining this for the first time as well - but I won't steal your team name ideas, cuz we already have a super-sweet one )

Congratulations, Live Free or Tri Harder has been registered for the 2009 Ragnar Relay Washington D.C.. Your team number is 060. Laughing

Beginning mid-September volunteers will be able to sign up on our web site for specific shifts that they would like to work. Shifts will last no longer than 7 hours. Responsibilities may include traffic control, exchange point management, setup and takedown etc. Every volunteer will receive an official race t-shirt, sponsor goodies, and snacks.

Matt's out - we have 2 open spots.

Shane - Are you snail mailing me the $ for the other 2 team members?  I can PM you my addr if you don't have it in your email still.

Based on the above, we may be able to find more people willing to volunteer.

Might I suggest the tattered and torn look, with accompanying singe marks, just like Bruce Willis' clothing in all the die hard movies....

This stinks guys! I really, really wanted to do this but I am sidelined right now. I told myself I wasn't going to register for anything - no matter how far out - until I'm running pain free. If September rolls around and you guys need someone, AND I am healthy, I would love to be a fill in, alternate, whatever you want to call it. I'm sure you're all going to have a blast!

My friend who I was trying to recruit finally told me "No". Looks like we're back to looking for 3.

Should we post something on the main Triathlon Talk page?

ok so I can't read 5 pages (I can, don't want to But I may be able to do this.  What would be the required distances to run? I'd be damn slow (10-11 min miles) but if you're in a bind, I can probably help. Just have to see when my friend's wedding is.

Depends on which "leg" you run.  The shortest combined total is only like 12 miles (the #11 runner):

OMG - I wanted to do this so bad last year, but just couldn't get a team together.

Fill me in on details - I'm not exactly sure what my September looks like yet (I think I'm doing Oct. HIM and Philadelphia Mary in Nov.)... Costs? I can run whatever OH this is exciting.

Live Free or Tri Harder is the most amazing name !

No we still need 2 more people

I'm working on a friend and it sounded like Shane might have some more he was working on too.  If you're interested you should take the dive so you can secure your sport

Shane - I haven't received the money from your friends yet.  What do you think the chances are we can use a govey van or 2?

Jessica - I'm so excited you're thinking about joining us   I sent you the email.
