Everytime I want to skip or skimp on a workout, all I have to do is think about that HIM looming in a distance. I just hope I can make some speed gains before then. I feel like I have the endurance to do the distances, but I just can't seem to get up to speed. maria, we're may HIM-buddies! i'm doing orlando on the 16th. |

I love them!  So far this week I have completed 2 swims, 2 biking, 1 run, and so I have 1 run and 2 strength training left to do.  It has been a challenge to fit it all in between returning to work, running 2 tweens around, and spending time with my husband.  Not to mention wanting to fit in friend time!  So I feel like I'm juggling about 10 balls at this time.  Happy with my progress but wanting to make sure I fit the rest in!  It's so good to have the support of you all!  Good luck on all your weekly goals... you can all do it.... I have no doubt!!!! Have a great night! Tara | |

I am trying not to let work be the excuse as to why I am not getting it done. It means lots of early mornings, missed lunches and late nights but so far so good. It is helping me to get back on the bandwagon. Thus far Monday- Core and Strenght training Tuesday- Run 4.05 miles Wednesday- Swim 1500, 45 minute spin class Planned Thursday- Abs/Core class Friday- Swim, Run Saturday and Sunday will bring some sort of Run/Bike combo between those two days. Will depend on weather. |

On the date where you want to post your training, click on "training" -- it will look something like this:Thur Jan 7 2010 the link to "training" will be on a colored bar 3. click on "training" 4. put in the time/ distance for whatever sport you did. does that make sense? |

| Expert 1118 , North Carolina | Subject: RE: Trishie's Tri Chicks - CLOSED! You northerners are going to laugh at this.  Due to a forecast of a "possibility" of snow last night, some schools announced a two hour delay for today; and the college I work at announced a one hour delay. I woke up to bare grounds and 43 deg weather! Ha! But with the extra hour, I got to swim with my trainining partner today which is rare because our schdules are so different. I noticed last time I went swimming that my swimsuit was causing a lot of extra drag and getting droopy. Today when I rinsed it after my swim it stretched out by at least two sizes! It's pretty much disintegrated from chorline despite that fact that I carefully rinse it after every use. I've only had this suit a few months. Ah well... | |

Good evening ladies.... looks like everyone is doing great with their workouts!!!  Well to update you on what I've done... instead of 2 biking sessions, 2 running sessions, 2 swimming sessions, and 2 pilates sessions.... I did 3 biking sessions, 3 swimming sessions, and 1 running session.  I had the opportunity to swim and bike an additional time then I had planned because of having a snow day today Tara |

| Pro 5169 Burbs | Subject: RE: Trishie's Tri Chicks - CLOSED! Hey Tara --- looks like a great week. As for strength training: there is a lot of debate in the tri world about it's effectivness in making you a better triathlete. If you enjoy it, then do it ! Also, strength training has a lot of benefits outside of making you a better triathlete. What does everyone have on tap for this weekend? I have a 10 mi run today but I'm waiting for mid day where it warms up to the hot hot hot temperature of 28* | |

That is exactly where I bought this suit that disintegrated! But this was a cheap Club Swim suit. McFuzz suggested I buy polyester and that it will last for-e-ver! So I ordered a Finals polyester suit from swim outlet. We'll see how it last. I don't want to have to wear my Tri stuff in the pool and ruin it too, so I hope it comes soon! My schedule is totally crazy. I'm swimming, running, and biking three times a week each as my plan specifies, but I really like to have strength training too. As an aging female, I feel I need it for bone density as well as simply having strength to assist with triathloning. I also tend to have a lot of muscle stiffness and would love to fit in yoga just for flexibilty and fun! I have simply GOT to dedicate more time to stretching lest I get an injury. I'm already feeling some discomfort in the achilles tendon. Can we talk nutrition? What type of diet do ya'll follow, and what do you eat before and after workouts? I am likely in the minority with a low-carb diet. I work out so early in the morning, that I normally do not eat anything prior to morning workouts and then I eat a heavy breakfast immediately afterwards; usually something like eggs, salmon or chicken, and spinach or broccoli. For evening workouts, I've already been eating all day so I stop a couple of hours before workout time and then generally have some sort of light protein meal after. With longer workouts, I'm thinking of adding a protein powder drink with fruit in it, and drink half before and half after; esp for strength training. Trishie - what are your recommendations for nutrition before and after training? |

| Pro 5169 Burbs | Subject: RE: Trishie's Tri Chicks - CLOSED! Maria, Ha, I've had a couple Club Swim suits that I LOVED (cute prints - one was sushi rolls!) but they wear out SO quickly. As for nutrition... right now I'm trying to lose about 7 lbs. I'm logging my calories at calorieking.com. It can be tedious but it works for me. I aim for appx: 20% protein, 50-60% carbs, and under 30% fat. I try to "net" 1600 calories/ day... which means if I run 5 miles and burn 450 calories, I'll eat 2150 calories for that day. It's much easier for me to lose weight when I'm not hardcore training. When I was IM training I was always starving and could not fathom trying to lose weight. |

| Regular 52 | Subject: RE: Trishie's Tri Chicks - CLOSED! Hi all! I am trying to lose ~20 pounds, so I'm trying to keep my calories at about 1400 - 1600 for now. Most of my training workouts will be early mornings before breakfast. I will carry a Kashi granola bar with me just in case I get really shaky. If not, for breakfast I'll have a protein shake with frozen strawberries mixed in and using soy milk instead of regular milk. I'll also have a bowl of oatmeal. I'll keep my lunch and dinner to ~350 each (lean protein and veggies) and then snack in the morning and afternoon as needed. Snacks are fruit, nuts, or steamed vegetables. Of course, as my workouts get longer and more intense or if I get too tired to workout I will up my calories as needed. Does anyone see anything glaring that I should or should not be doing?? Thanks so much! Tania |
