Hi all,  Can you take another newbie? Actually I think I posted with you in April... but then slacked in May. Back on it. My first IM is coming up in two months and I  would love to be at my optimal racing weight (can you tell i read "Racing Weight". LOL)

June 2nd I was 130.2. Goal for end of June is 120. Yes, that is a lot but I think its doable given the amount of training that I'm doing right now. I dont log workouts here - I'm old school with paper and pencil. I put a / through each completed workout.  So aiming for lots of ////// this month! Its my last big month of pushing it hard.

GL to all!

Can someone point me to the instructions for recording/tracking, etc for this challenge?

And please tell me why 1/4 cup of almonds is 204 calories.  I thought I was doing good this morning with my homemade whole wheat bagel with a a tsp of butter and tsp of strawberry jam and 1/4 cup of almonds.  I even reduced the sugar in my coffee.

When I went to record the almonds, I was shocked.

3/1/2010 - 225
4/1/2010 - 212
5/1/2010 - 202
6/1/2010 - 195.5

Goal for June - 189.5

Another month down!  My new frameset came in and will be built up by Monday afternoon.  I never thought I'd be buying another road bike, but oddly enough, the stack and reach measurements on the Cervelo S1 are very close to perfect with a pair of clip-ons and the seat-tube in the foreward position.  I'll do some time trials this season, and a ton of road riding.  I found a really great group ride that challenges the heck out of me.  They'll definitely take my riding to a new level.  I have a few centruies planned for this year.  I won't be getting my ACL reconstruction until late this fall.  I can't wait to spend another three weeks strapped into one of those Constant Passive Motion machines.  GOD I hate being on my back!!!  Anyway, I look forward to another month of traingin and weight loss!

I just signed up for my first 5K run, it's not until October 2nd, but suddenly it seems real.  I know it is a long way off, but I really want to be under 30 minutes for my ego's sake.   I am walking a 5K with a friend next weekend, she wanted company because she walked one a few weeks ago and almost came in last so she doesn't want to be alone.

Oh and Saling, I'm purple despite having a sore throat today.

Good job on the Purple. Don't feel to bad about the 30 min thing I haven't done that yet. I don't get paid more for 28 min so I just have fun....

What did you think of "Racing Weight", I am thinking of picking it up but hope it is more in depth than some books I have read on it

I went out for my scheduled 16km (10 mile) run on Sunday and was quickly brought back down to Earth! I struggled to get to 8km - and I mean really struggled. I am putting it down to the fact that I started out at 10am and the heat just got to me. I felt bad.
Anyway, I was feeling guilty so I went out again this morning and ran 10km (6 miles). I feel sore in the legs now and need to spend a whole lot of time stretching tonight.

Looking forward to weigh in this week though...

First purple day of the month.  Body needed it after bonking badly 35mi into 50 mi group ride due to doing a little too much too soon.  Need to do some hill repeats and more high intensity intervals in order recover faster from the surges in group rides.  Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I need to ride more as well oweiss. I have been slacking greatly, actually in everything...drat. The best thing I am doing is my pullups and pushups and that has very little to do with S>B>R. However, I WILL PEACH EVERY DAY IF IT KILLS ME!!!

One of my goals for the weekend was to make it though all of our end of the year parties without eating any sugary junk or overeating anything--I did it no problem!  I had a few longing looks at some sugar cookies, but then thought of the workout next morning and knew it wasn't worth it.  I had great workouts both Saturday and Sunday.

Next short term goal--make it through the next two days of the zoo and water parks without resorting to 'whatever' type eating.  I'll be packing a cooler with chicken breast and plenty of healthy snacks.  I can do it!

Started my early am workouts today. Biked an easy 10 miles today just to get used to it. Looks like I will have time to do a 10-15 mile bike followed by a 2 mile run if I can get my butt out of bed by 5am.

Kim-good job not giving in to eating crap at the end of the school year. That's a hard thing. Way to saty focused!

A neighbor gave me a pallet of grass that was left over from redoing his.  So on Friday & Sat, I worked in the FL Sun cut out the old grass and lay the new grass.  While it was extremely difficult, I did not mind burning the calories.  A good jump start to the weight loss goal.

For today: Set the alarm for 5:30am so I would be up early enough to get some chores done and get my swim in.  Well, since I did not actually get out of until 6:15, my swim was skipped.

I will get it in tonight.

Broke every rule in the book yesterday, I think I have run about 8 times this whole year and not more than 3 miles anytime recently, but yesterday felt great and went about 7.5 pushing my youngest in the jogger.

Things are coming back slowly but surely!

One thing that I try to keep in mind when I eat crap is that every 100 cal's is 1 mile running. A slice of pizza is 2.5 miles, depending on cookie it can easily be .5 miles per cookie. This is not exact science so don't beat me up if you do Veggy pizza with no crust...

Just got back from running 3 miles with my friend who is doing the HM with me in Dec. We figured we'd follow a training plan for a 10K. Find a 10K to do in Aug/Sept & then follow a training plan for a HM. Since most plans are 12-16 weeks, we have time.

Saling-Know what you mean about the pizza/cookies & running. I think about that when I'm tempted to go off course, that by overeating I'd negate all the exercise I just did. Helps sometimes.

Good work eveyone. I am awaiting weigh in tomorrow. I completed my first 4km run I am also doing the couch to 5k program. Had a one week setback with my broken toe, but well under way again. The runs are actually starting to get enjoyable now. I am not having to push so hard to get through them.

I also did my first 50km bike ride on the weekend with the help of a friend that does HIM. She has been a great mentor/friend and motivator for practicing.

I am sure I am on track for more loss on the weigh in..how much.. who knows who cares. I just know that what I am doing is right and it will all work out. Albeit I still have a lot to learn about training and nutrition, I keep trying and changing things until they work..

KEEP it up everyone... Get One last good work out tonight before weigh in tomorrow....
