Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge owl_girl - 2011-11-04 1:57 PM Hi Guys! I hope everyone is doing good! I've been running even though I'm fighting a mild cold. I hope I'll feel well enough on Sunday to do my long run. We'll see. I'm taking it easy right now. I've also been a bit depressed about my tri bike. The seat post clamp is broken. Unfortunately, it is not repairable because it is integrated into the carbon frame. I'm getting a new frame under warranty, though! I'm glad it didn't happen during race season. I usually put it away for the winter about now. No rush on getting the new frame built into a complete bike. I can't wait to see the new one! Will you have much out of pocket costs to rebuild it ? I would like a TT bike someday , just hard to sneak it past the boss on our budget . |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge Got in a short run today , 1 dog did not want to go for a "walk" ? I did manage to sneak in a new cassette 12-28 for my roadie (the original was 12-25) . I never realized how much of a difference just 3 extra notches at the back can help on long steep climbs. The LBS is going to inspect all of my old parts as they come off and suggest if anything needs to be replaced while the bike is in pieces. Everything is looking good so far. I babied that bike! When you can get a TT bike (or any bike for that matter) do your homework on the company and the bike you intend to buy. Don't settle for almost right. It took a long time to find that bike. After lots of trials on other brands, my LBS thought that this bike would be the one for me. I had never considered it. The first time I took it out, it fit like a glove. |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge I ran 3.8 miles at lunch today. It was almost 50 out with ferocious wind. I forgot to bring my hat and my ears were numb for an hour after. I'll not make that mistake again. I'm hoping to get back out there tonight. My mileage this week has been low. I don't have a good excuse for that. Sorry Central people. |

The (ex)boyfriend and I had another series of fights last night, so it is definate that we are now officially through. I feel about 200-lbs lighter, running should be easier now, right? Have a great weekend everyone!

Expert 1145 Ann Arbor, MI | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge Great week of running so far everyone! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has resisted the SNOOZ addiction in order to log some challenge running miles. I'm definitely looking forward to running 20 or so miles on the trails tomorrow morning. Is there any better reward for getting out of bed than feeling like you're the only person on earth, watching dawn break through the mist off a frosty ground? Well, that and pancakes. |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge Happy Sunday Runners We have a race here today and the weather is rain and 42F . I think that qualifies for crappy weather and for here its about as challenging as it gets. I helped at registration yesterday and this morning am running 13.1. Will park the car with dry clothes near the finish line. |

Sometimes just having something over, once and for ever, feels better, even if the outcome isn't what you were hoping for. The not knowing makes it difficult to move on. Be kind to yourself. Be your own best friend. |

Will park the car with dry clothes near the finish line. That sounds like crappy weather to me. Wet and 42 is much worse than 30 and dry, in my opinion. Good luck with your race! I ran 5.5 this morning. It was a wonderful morning for a run. The afternoon is even better, and I'm fighting the urge to get back out there and enjoy it. Despite my failed run Wednesday evening, I am chipping away at my goal for the month. The best part is that I feel good. Nothing is too achy (my knee is still sore, but it's just a flesh wound), and my muscles, tendons, and joints are all feeling great. |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge It was Pouring rain at the start of my race today I was lucky to be able to stay indoor until 15 mins before the start , jogged 4 mins to warm up I have a good race with 1500 other runners on the full and half course Rained steadily for the first hour , i ran it moderately with a trash bag over my chest . My cotton gloves got wet quickly but even wet kept my hands warm . Once the rain stopped i tried opening the holes in the trash bag and then removed it as i was getting pretty toasty inside . I was the only one i could see running in a singlet . I started to drop some of the runners i was with around mile 8 and picked up the pace by 1 min /mile on the downhill mile 9 , After my race , i got cleaned up and walked my dogs back to the course. The sun had come out and it was a nice to be out. I cheered At mile 25.8 near the finish line took pictures of our club marathoners finishing up . Glad i did they appreciated the support and it was inspiring to witness their struggle to finish < One marathon runner was in a complete breakdown , he was full on crying his way to a marathon finish , i am guessing he was finishing his first marathon. |

Expert 1260 Norton Shores, MI | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge I am at 24.55% complete after the first week so pretty darn close to on track . I had to cut my long run short this week unfortunately. I have a short trail race on Saturday just down the street at the State Park that should be fun. I ran part of it on Sunday. With all the leaves on the trail you can no longer see the large tree roots so I am just hoping to not break my ankle. The race is in the dunes of Lake Michigan with the last mile on the beach. It is a tough little course. This will be some good speed work as I neglected that aspect for a couple months.

Veteran 392 Calgary | Subject: RE: Novemburr Run Challenge I had to bag today's planned workout, as I had another allergic reaction last night (I have severe food allergies) and am just waiting now to get in to the doctor .. hopefully a shot will reverse this reaction, but it only works about half the time. Right now my face is all swollen and puffy and red and hivey - I'm pretty, oh so pretty. I have been working on a training plan for the new year, though - and looking forward to new beginnings! I just need to get back on that darned treadmill! Sounds like everyone had a good weekend running - congrats to those who raced! |

Sounds like it was a positive experience over-all even with all the rain. Congratulations! So wonderful of you to take pictures of your club-mates. As for me, after being sick and husband out of the house for a week of Guard Duty, I'm back on it to meet my goal. I hope I don't let my teammate down! |
