Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN #154: What are you TANkful for this time of year? Pity Party Monday... My doctor called this morning and said the pre-op testing they had me do a month ago were the wrong ones so they did a quick reschedule to get the right tests done for this Friday. However, I'm supposed to be driving to IMAZ this friday get to athlete checkin before it closes. I called the doctor back and said the 18th is no good. Before or after (as long as it's done before Dec 1 - surgery day). They called back and said that the next available slot would be Dec 15, so then I would have to move surgery back. That's not acceptable and told them so. But I might just have to take it up the arse and miss athlete check-in, and possible the race, after all that training and over 1000 bucks dropped. Granted, there is a very good chance I can just check in on Sat (they have a super secret - or not so secret - late check in). So I should be able to still race, but miss all the pre-race activities unless I can BS my way in. I have emails into IMAZ. I can't STAND it when I have to pay for someone else's screw ups and they don't even seem to feel bad. Docs just have you over a barrel. |

I actually had a somewhat busy day at work today - and was forced into the position of telling some of the higher ups that I'll be leaving by May 1st which I'm hoping doesn't come back to bite me in the bum. On the good side of things - Tony's in the kitchen making me some delicious dinner! He really is a good cook I made fish and chips the other day. They were, in fact, better than most I had in London. I plan to entertain my brit friends and make it for them. Sort of a dinner party. |

The wife got a bit frustrated with my lack of work last night. It may be an entire year before I get a chance to work again. Maybe it's time to move or leave my career and start another one. |

A smack on the butt is better then a bite. You never know when a guy is going to let one loose. |

YOU have to completely rearrange your life to fix their mistake? Do you get to charge them the $1000 you'll be out because of THEIR mistake? I'm so sorry Jim, but if there's any way you can do the super-secret late check in (or contact Ironman to see if they'll make an exception in your circumstances?), I think you should do the race. |
