One month to go...How's training looking? Honestly, I'd like to be throwing down a little more volume, but time is just a commodity that I don't have that much of...That being said, training has been more quality than quantity.

Weather is looking great! Hope it is not too much cooler on race day than it is now, though! I don't want a sub 60 degree bike start!

That pretty much describes me, too..I'm trying to get quality on weekends and hope the base is enough to get me through miles 6-13.1 on the run.

I'm one of those people hoping it's colder than 60', tho...

In 2009, the last time I did the half at B2B before two years of the full, it was about 45' when we got in the water. Temps were rising quickly, though, and I'll bet I was dried off and warm less than 5-10 miles into the bike. Maybe low 70's for the run? Best day I've ever had at a half!

2010 sounds like about the same temps as what alltom described for 2009- I shivered for 2 or so miles on the bike (like shaking, couldn't change gears) and then it was nice.  I did the full then, so ran much later in the day (and sadly into the night!), but I think it was about 60-65 when most of the HIMers were running...almost perfect. I would also rather have it be cool for the run than warm for the swim, since you are in a wetsuit anyway.

Well, work and family commitments have jump-started an unplanned early taper....better under-trained than over-trained I suppose.....

are the buoys on the course sight buoys or do you actually have to swim around them?

Sight buoys I believe. You do have to go around a boat ie keep it on your left (normally a boat with a squiggly man on it) when you make the left turn to head towards Seapath.

Darn those squiggly men! I feel as though they taunt me for not being able to swim!

Any good tips on how to best handle that swim? Start on the outside, inside, up front, in the back? Does it matter with the current?

How much of a factor is the wind on the course? I've heard it can be pretty demoralizing...are there ever any days when it is not blowing hard?

I swam about 1.5. miles of the course the other day, it was very flat, and the current was ripping. Id love the same for race day, but just the other day I was swimming out there again and swimming with the current, but the wind made a little bit of a surface current that made it tough, so you just never know...

Water temps in the Wrightsville beach area as of today are a smidge below 80 deg, so with 2 weeks to go I don't see them really getting below 74. Long story short. Sleeveless should be plenty.

I wore Sleeveless in 2008, and it was 62 degrees.  Chilly, but I was fine once I got going.  No way shape or form hypothermic.

Perfect!...I despise the cold, so this is a relief.

Just found this. Pretty cool:

http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41110

77.9 degree water temp right now. I'd prefer it if it was low 70s but there is still time :-)

ETA: Just looked at the historical data from last year. It was 71.8 on Oct 20. Thats very nice whatever wetsuit you have!

Swam the course this morning, a little bit of chop on the water so I sucked down some salt water. All in all though it was a good swim, wore my new wetsuit and felt a little warm, a couple of more weeks and the water should be just right for wetsuits...

Bought some toe warmers for my cycling shoes (Pearl Izumi tri fly III) but I decided to skip the neoprene cap and booties for the swim, I have a full sleeve wetsuit so I think I'll be ok

Sure do hope that the temps are not close to what they are now! That would be a miserable ride! Just raced Pinehurst this past weekend and temps were low to mid 60s at the start of the bike...PERFECT, if you ask me.
