Old and new. Welcome to the new thread! Hello, Manatees! I'll wait for Janyne's update ... or hunt down racing Manatees ... Sorry. Janyne entrusted me with the Racing List. She should've known better. |

I'm going for sure, and I think Ben may go as well. The Pikes Peak Marathon winner, Matt Carpenter, is supposedly going to be there, and Ben has a little bit of idol worship going on about him. I could ask him right now who won the last six Pike's Peak marathons, and he could not only tell you his name, but his winning time. lol When he heard Carpenter might be at the 5k fun run, he didn't even hesitate and said he was going. We did the cog railroad this morning. Wow. That's all I can say. Just amazing. We also drank some of the yummy soda springs water in Manatou. Really delicious. Oooh, how fun! GO FELICIA and GO BEN! You also sound like you're feeling better at the altitude. |

It was fun but a super late night. Today we are staying home and getting Alex and Liam packed for camp and watching the Olympics. I talked to Bryan this morning. He's in Pattaya, Thailand. Anyone ever been there and have a good recommendation for stuff to do. He is not into go-go bars and hookers so he's not sure what else to do. |

I am pretty pumped about my swim today. Not in my logs yet but the plan said to do 100 X 3 decreasing the time each time. So the first one I did 2:23 which is about normal for me so I figured I could beat it. The next one was 2:17 And I thought how am I going to beat that? the next one was 2:16!!!!! That's not a record for me but it's pretty dang close. Okay back to your regularly scheduled pod-talk. Great job! Pretty darn cool. |

I just finished the lawn mowing which was preceded by a bike ride of 25 miles and watching the Olympic road race. And a sad phone call from DD2, which is becoming a standard. Oh yeah, I also have pulled up the athlete tracker for Vineman. Janyne is outta the water in 1:37:41 and on the bike 28th in her AG, 708 overall. GO JANYNE!!!! |

It might actually be called the Pattaya Elephant Park, not sure ... (lemme check) no no, it's Pattaya Elephant Village. Day snorkeling trips are really lovely, too. Anyplace with PADI master divers that isn't either upcharging or downcharging should be fine. If he doesn't have a chunk of time, there are really nice places to eat. |

But at least she can call, and she has the opportunity to figure out who she is. I pray she takes advantage of that opportunity. BTW, I was very happy (stunned???) to see that you took an extra rest day. Who are you? |

Such painful circumstances but it's wonderful that she feels she can, and does, call you. Not only did I take an extra rest day this week ... I did nothing but take a walk today. Again, I coulda put in a trainer ride or any number of things, but I have a (semi) long run on tomorrow as well as a swim and I'd rather just put in a fresh, solid effort on key workouts than arbitrarily put volume in. Especially on a (self-imposed, I might add) pull-back week. THANK YOU! |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full Ben and I did our 5k this morning -- mostly walking, some running. His achilles is bothering him. We decided to walk uphill and run down. Matt Carpenter wasn't there, so that was a little disappointing, but not a big deal. Then we went to Seven Falls, Cutler Peak (?), and Helen Hunt Falls. All together, maybe 4-5 hours of hiking/climbing. My legs are burning. Then we drove back to the camp via Old Gold Mine Road. Awesome. Two amazing unreinforced tunnels -- you just see the stone/rock/granite that they blasted through on a two-way (??) dirt road winding on the edge of a mountain -- no guard rails (for "wimps" my husband says) -- where you have to honk before you turn a blind corner, and if someone is coming, someone has to pull over to make room. A very fun drive. My husband and I were both wishing we had mountain bikes -- so many cool trails. A lot of people up there having fun today. We break camp tomorrow morning from here and drive on up to Divide, CO to Mueller State Park. Internet there will definitely be iffy. Missing everyone and hoping that the racers are having fun this weekend. Felicia |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full TriAya - 2012-07-29 4:41 AM CONGRATULATIONS FELICIA AND BEN! I'm really proud of him. This is definitely the longest he's run/walked. I gave him bail out options, but he wouldn't take them. "I'm not going to let a little injury keep me from achieving my goal!" So he hung in there, and ran it into the Trading Post. We were the last "runners" to finish, but we finished ahead of all of the walkers. That motivated him; he kept saying, "Come on. I'm not going to let those walkers with their dogs beat us!" lol He earned his finishers tee-shirt. He wore it proudly yesterday. Another cute thing about my kids -- we were watching the opening ceremonies, and Jayson loved the segment with Mr. Bean. The next day, he said, "Remember when Mr. Bean got in that car and then drove ahead of the runners and won the triathlon?" lol I love it that Jayson thinks whenever he sees anyone swimming, biking, or running they are doing a triathlon. Love my kids. |

Extreme Veteran 536 | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full jobaxas - 2012-07-27 9:13 PM I go to bed and wake up to 4 pages on a new thread! Wow! Feeling sorry for myself but not too much - doctor gave me antibiotics which i may or may not take...I'm feeling a bit improved so hoping my body is healing itself. But he did say rest, told him my weekend plans, he looked stern. I compromised to the swim today but I may run tomorrow we shall see! Watched a couple of hours of the opening ceremony - even with the Australian commentary team I would have been very drunk - first ten mins I watched I got two sob stories, 3 Michael Phelps mentions, an Usain Bolt moment and at least 4 countries I'd not heard of. Tuvalu????? Paul McCartney needs to start saying no. The Queen looked lovely. I cried when Ali was on, just bawled. Now there is a superb athlete and human being. All in all I enjoyed what I saw. Dammit I'm not going to be home to watch the mens' road race tonight - the one thing I really want to see! Never mind will watch the womens. Artemis so excited about the gymnastics. Lots of late nights ahead as we are 9 hours in front of the UK so lots showing at midnight onwards. Triathlon though is on a good Australian time, cannot wait! well as I can't ride or run now I am off shopping, retail therapy cures most colds and coughs. Jo, you are a hell of a strong woman with such drive - but for goodness sake, take those antibiotics - take them ALLLLL, worst thing you can do is stop part-way - and then you can get back to the hardazzz training you love - and ROCK - so much. Please. |
