Just finished 90 minute ride, I'm 48 OZ down!

Just one of the many articles about water!

Great article Abbie, good reminders about water, just about there for the day for me!

Can a late joiner still get in??  I only saw this today and would like to join this challenge.

Over the summer I dropped about 12 lbs and would like to lose another 10 by the end of the year and 4 more before my birthday in Feb.

I'm 52, married, no kids at home but a little almost one year old granddaughter that we usually have over a couple nights a week. I have everything I need to work out at home (treadmill, bowflex, weights, eliptical) and a gym membership but still find excuses to do nothing most days.  Need some group accountability. Running is my first love, currently have no pool access so will start back with walking/running for cardio.

Looking forward to this challenge.

I want to join in, most years I have  gained weight over the last 3 months of the year (maybe 1 where I lost and 2 where I maintained)

Scott, 44, Married, Father of 4.2 kids all under the age of 12 and 1 cat that preceded the kids.

Been a frustrating, undisciplined year on the weight front.  (Somewhere around 215 right now) Goal is to be 204 by the end of the year and 193 sometime next year, I have probably spent maybe 6 weeks under 200 this century and only seen 196 after a long ride.

Like the cardio 4x per week.  Consistent strength training has been missing for years, will incorporate that or p90x workout 3x.  As for nutrition, starting small - giving up energy drinks, stick with home made deserts and not store bought (should help a little as Thanksgiving turns to the Christmas treats season) and make better choices overall.  Not quite focused enough on anything to give up pizza and ice cream yet Embarassed but after I hit the 204 goal, that may come.

Ended up having a very solid day. My swim was a dissapointment it was rolling along great and then lightning forced a shut down of the pool. Did end up getting my water requirement and then a 9.6 mile run on the treadmill.

WHo's throwing out the next challenge?

Hey everyone and welcome to the newcomers!

My plan only called for a 30' run so I volunteered to walk the dog last night and got some hubby-brownie points on that one while also getting in a solid 45' brisk walk.  Longer run today and completed the water challenge yesterday woo hoo!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Good morning, happy challenge people!

I ended up finishing the water challenge ... and was up 3 times last night to pee.  Really need to cut off water after dinner!

Been a good week so far, both in terms of nutrition and training.  Still need to get a plan together for strength training -- I work out with a trainer once a week, but need another 2-3x/week.  And I dislike strength training enough that if I don't have an already laid out plan, I won't do it.  Or I'll go into the basement and kind of bump around the weight room for a bit and decide I'm done without having accomplished much.

I had started on 5x5 stronglifts awhile ago and was enjoying it, but I have some quadriceps tendinosis that gets really aggravated by all the squats.  Which is a shame because I LOVE squats.  I'll need to figure out something else.  I want to lift heavy -- for me, that works the best in terms of getting me stronger and changing my body composition -- but will have to be careful.

TODAY'S CHALLENGE......Work you core! 100 reps of core exercises. Can be a mix of your favorites done at once or a few times during the day. The core is the basis for all movement in your body. A strong core includes your back, not just the "6-pack abs" you might think ofhttp://vastfitness.com/benefits-of-a-strong-core/1146/

Ha!  Just finished my lower body workout but today was supposed to be core day.  I was wondering if I should go ahead and get it in today or move it to tomorrow.  Guess you made that decision for me!

I'm off to a great start.  2.5 hour bike ride yesterday with good nutrition.  Last night I made spaghetti squash with chicken, shrimp, onions, and tomato sauce and baked it with a slice of provolone on top.  Very yummy!  Got in ~ 100 oz of water.

Right now, I'm between strength and cardio, finishing a fruit smoothie, (plain yogurt, almond milk, vanilla pp, & frozen fresh fruit) getting ready to  head out on my bike to enjoy another beautiful Indian summer Ohio day!  Tonight, its a fall harvest salad (spinach, apples, cranberries, chicken, walnuts, and just a bit of blue & cheddar cheeses & a ff raspberry pecan dressing) with oatmeal flatbread.

Great idea. I’d love to join.
Name: Nathan
Current Weight: 197lb (down from 208 in early August, 2012)
Goal: 185 by end of year
Training S/B/R/core
Story: After running 5 marathons and a sprint tri, I pretty much stopped exercising constantly after our first child was born in 2008. Now, our second is a year and a half old and I’ve been working out and eating right consistently for a few months. I’ve found a routine that works well for me, given the demands of family and work. My long term goal is to get down around 15% body fat and RACE in an Olympic distance triathlon(s) next summer.
Also, as a secondary goal I’m working more on speed than I have ever before. I’ve dropped over 4 minutes off on my 10K time in the last three months (down to 47:32). I view the weight loss as both an enabler and result of that work.
I’m looking forward to the motivation and information that this challenge should provide. Thanks for setting it up!

Also, I'm working of adding my workouts to the websites training log. I've tracked them on my own spreadsheet for years , but I'll transfer a couple mounts worth of workouts over in the next few days and continue to use it during this challenge.

Hey everyone. I've been as high as 167 lbs and as low as just a hair under 130 pounds. I'm working to get back to my Weight Watchers goal weight of 137. I'm still technically Lifetime but just need to get back to at least 139 to get free meetings and online tools again! I'm really working hard about my nutrition and when I weighed in at WW yesterday I was down 2.2. Very encouraging. I think that I read we will talk about our weekly weigh ins on Fridays. I don't have a scale at home so I will use my weigh in from each Tuesday at WW.

Running is my main activity, but I like to keep things interesting and looks forward to my workouts each week. I love activity but I do not love watching what I eat! Laughing

I've never done a challenge on BT, but this sounds like the perfect one for me! I did IMWI in September and have been struggling to get back into a healthy fitness/nutrition routine, plus I need to drop some weight that I gained during the course of IM training. Excited to have some accountability! I will likely officially start Monday, as I am just getting over being sick and need to get some healthy foods in the house. I also start back up with my coach next week which will help on the training front. Here we go!

Name: Jen

Basics: Married (to jowisc here on BT) with a 3-year-old fur baby (dog variety).

Height: 5'4-ish (perhaps just a touch under)

Current: Need to officially weigh in on Friday (been avoiding the scale!), but probably around 135/136

Goal: Ideal training weight = 127; goal for this challenge = 131

Activity: Starting with my coach again next week, so I'll be doing plenty of s/b/r during pre-season. My big goal is to incorporate strength/core training at least 2x/week (build to 3x) and stretching 5x/week.

Nutrition Plan: Cut out the crap! I'm gluten free so that somewhat limits my carbs. My goals for this challenge are "clean eating" during the work week. No snacks or sweets. Bring my breakfast and lunch to work AT LEAST 3x/week but ideally 4x/week. I will probably allow myself one cheat meal or snack on the weekend because I know myself and it backfires if I'm too strict.

Crossfit.  Core.  Amazingly clean eating.  And some cardio.  I need to start doing lots and lots of cardio and it all has to be non impact and preferably not use the upper body at all.  I can't run or walk fast (due to SI joint).  Rowing. spin bike, jump rope it is.  Swimming and road cycling are great too but just not convenient all the time.  Must burn fat!!!!

And I shall amend my starting weight.  I assumed I was 180 as that was what I was 6 weeks ago when I got weighed, measured and BF tested.  My scale showed 181.6 this morning.  We go from there ...

Can you water run?  Boring but great!

Story: I played water polo and did swim team all 4 years of high school and 2 years in college I also used to work out every day training for wildflower 70.3 and vine man full iron man, I also used to rock climb on a daily basis. after the triathlons I took a break from working out and had issues getting back into it. Life took over and my company started to get busy and working out got put off even further. As the video work got slow again I picked up a second job and have been working 50+ hours a week and trying to work out. I am tired of clothes getting tighter and not fitting right any more.

Nutrition plan: I have no real set plan, at the moment I am working on cutting out junk food and candy. as well as soda and trying to increase lean proteins, green vegetables, and whole grains.
