Worse of all had to head home and missed asking Macca about the unicycle. Dude, what a bummer... That is a bummer. So sorry! Did something happen in the race to cause the coughing? You'll get 'em next time. |

You'll get 'em next time. A combination of no warm up in the water before & first time swimming with the wetsuit in 6 months and first time swimming on an open water course since last october . The sighting was easy and the buyancy and paddling was fine . But my HR was very high at rest with the wetsuit on and i struggled to breathe in enough air . And then when i tried to calm down by breastroking for 10 secs i got more tight congested and tired . I finished the last 200 yards with my head out of the water . And coughed for the next half an hour . Decided i needed to call it a day and packed my stuff and headed home. I was first to turn in my timing chip .......... ahead of Macca |

Extreme Veteran 1222 Tallahassee, Florida | Subject: RE: April Challenge! Paul, I'm sorry and I understand. Had a tri week and half ago and first OWS since Oct and first wetsuit swim. Got kicked early, drank me a nice tasty gulp of water, and decided that I couldn't/wouldn't put my head in the water. Backstroked almost the whole thing. When is your next tri? You'll get them then. |

Thanks I am tempted to register for another Tri soon . Right now my next planned race is Super Sprint in early june with a lake swim . Followed by an OLY with ocean swim in late june . So Best Prep for me to Open water swim with the wetsuit 4-5 times to get confortable and relaxed in it and build me some confidence . |

My first race ever was a HIM, in a foriegn country. Was also my first ever "real" open water swim except for playing in the lake with kids. First time ever with a wetsuit, you know, all the stuff folks not to do...........I did..........and finished it! |

Subject: RE: April Challenge! Everyone do a HAPPY DANCE with me! I transmitted my final April 15 client tax return last night. I'm done. I'm free. HDT - Happy Dance Time!!! I updated my log and have moved from being a target to being an overachiever. Yep, yep! So put your laser sightings on someone else, Dee. I'm good for a little while. Scott - your snow is depressing for the middle of April. We just had sleet while I was out on a run and my toes are numb. Come on Spring! Melissa - at least you're now in the double digits! Paul - Glad you got in a run and swim. Keep it up! I agree with Andy's advice on signing up for another tri. His "Ah-nuld" picture made me laugh. Scott - At least you were gutsy enough to put weight loss as a goal. I knew from the get-go that would be a tough one for me so I streered clear of it. Now go run. Have a great weekend everyone! I'm still happy dancin'..... |

I'm still happy dancin'..... I"m happy dancing with Brenda. No, I'm not an accountant and have not just finished taxes. I just like to dance and I'm rejoicing for Brenda. Was at son's baseball game today and started to get up and dance - 1) because I wanted to and 2) embarass the crap out of son. Sorry everyone else is having the lousy weather. It's in the 80s in North Florida and we all lathered up on the sunscreen just to watch the game. |

That weather picture is good and bad. I would love to have at least one day where it was like that. I live in Atlanta and we barely got below 32° this year. I don't think we have even had flurries in about 2 or 3 years now. Of course after about 2 days of that kind of Canada weather we would all be out of our minds. Glad to be back amongst the cool folks involved in this challenge.

I was expecting sunny and 60-70's. I may just have to go to work instead and do it later. That is certainly tough weather to train in . Making it a double challenge for you . Personally i would dial in overcast on/off drizzle and 45F for the run and 58-60F for the bike rides . But that's just me wishing. |
