It looks like everyone is plugging along!  Nice work :)

Still swimming and, unfortunately, I'm driving tonight.  The leg that is injured is my right leg, and driving really aggravates it.  I'll ice it when I get done with my drive, and I've been on board with my ibuprofen.

In better news, the swimming is going, well, swimmingly.  I did repeat 100s today with a ten second RI and they were all faster than my repeat 100s last week.  I'm really seeing good gains with this swim focus, and that is awesome.  It lessens the hurt *sniff* of not being able to run.  i do need to be careful pouching off the wall though--push offs and plantar flexion with the kick get the leg thing worked up.

Well, I think you are being smart about it.

That's a fantastic thing about triathlon. You have two low impact sports that you can work on when you can't run. Keep that aerobic base up and you'll get crackin' on the running soon.

High five Switcheroo!  Just watch that push off for sure.  Thinking I was totally safe in the water, I exacerbated a knee injury this summer pushing off the wall.  That wall can be a killa'!

Just read your race reports....man you have some mad skills girl!!  And two in a row?  You should be so proud of yourself.  One of the coolest things about you is that reading your race reports and posts, you are so laid back about it all and take everything in stride.  Most people at your level take themselves so seriously

Why thank you! I am content with the races. I wouldn't recommend stacking races like that to anyone, lol, but that's just how things played out.

And I appreciate that you feel that way. There are certainly times to be really focused, but even then, taking things in stride is really important. There are a heck of a lot of uncontrollables in our sports and it's not worth getting bent out of shape every time one alters your "plan."

As for the serious part? Neeeveeerrrrrrrrrrrr

What workout are you doing?

Normally I'd be doing a 30 on/ 30 off thing today, but I feel like doing something different, since I'll be on a track.  16 x 400's where I take my target 10k time (I picked 39:00), divide by 25 and multiply by 60 to get your lap time.  Add 45 seconds to that for rest.  So basically I'll do 16 400's on the 2:20.

Sure to be fun times!

I'm jealous! Enjoy your run Matt. I am taking the day off today, but I am going to ice after my four hour drive today and I'm going to call and make an appointment with Sports Med. This is not getting better with rest and it's got me worried. Hoping I'll still be able to swim. Check in peeps. Even if you've dropped the ball. Let us know and re-up on your commitment to make your weakness a strength

So, if you fall behind on your split does that mean you get less rest? Or are you giving yourself the 45 no matter what?

Hmmm I have a track workout tonight so I'm not sure if I will be tacking on any supplemental strength to work on my weakness or not.

So, if it's alright with  you all, I think I will heat/ice/drink a beer afterward for recovery instead, as I've got another race on Saturday.

Pssshhhh! If I fall behind my splits.  Who do you think I am?!

I'll definitely do 45 seconds no matter what, but I better not fall behind!

Switch, so terribly sorry about the pain!!!!! Hope the doc can find the problem. BTW, how did you get the username Switch or dare I ask?

Salty, I like your plan re drinking for recovery. I was going to try for a double today but instead I've pored myself a glass of wine. My tempo run from this morn will have to be it.

Yesterday I did general stretches, planks, and crunches for core. Today was chest and shoulders for the first time in a long time. Ah, I'm gonna love that feeling tomorrow when I wake up thinking I'm having a heart attack and then realize it's just from those dang exercises. Since tomorrow will be an off day for running, I will really attempt to do both core and back tomorrow.

Thanks chica Sounds like you're going strong! Nice. I picked my handle mainly because I was switching from running to tris, but as my husband pointed out, after plugging it into Urban Dictionary, I fit most, if not all, of the definitions How about you? Do you always wear pink socks?

Nailed the workout!  I actually kept coming in around the 1:25 (closer to my R pace according to VDot) instead of the 1:33 that I was planning, making my rest more like 55 than 45 seconds.  Held to the 2:20 sendoff though, since I didn't know if I was overextending myself or not.

I am doing my first open water/wetsuit/ocean swim this sat. Do I wear a tri top under the wetsuit or just put on a running t shirt once I have it off? Any tips on wearing a wetsuit? I am going to take a short practice swim in it tomorrow, will be my first time wearing it.

If you're doing this for tri practice, then I'd wear a tri top just for specificity sake.

It is critical that you put it on properly. There are videos on youtube if you search there. It is a bit of a process but basically you want to make sure that you work the material upward from your thighs and midsection in order to give your shoulders as much freedom and range of motion. If you do not do this you will add resistance to every stroke which will wear you down. Bodyglide or similar product can reduce or eliminate chafing. I use it pretty heavily around my neck and shoulders. Some around your forearms and ankles can also make the suit easier to remove quickly. It is a good idea to wear the tri-top if that is what you will be racing in. Best to learn of any chafing issues in practice rather than race.

Well, I actually looked up switch on UD after posting last night, and really only about half of those things apply.  As a woman of mystery, I won't tell you which ones, but I will tell you that no part of my truck is "on switches".

I actually thought about starting a thread last night called "have you ever looked up your handle on UD?" but it really only works for a few of us :)

Matt, I don't really look anything like Belinda McClory, but IIRC, Switch from the Matrix is kind of a badazz, so I'll take that;)  Great job on nailing that workout last night, btw!
