I was silly and skipped/missed my swim over the weekend, so I am actually behind a little from where I want to be.  I am ahead of the challenge, but that is because I only pleged what I thought I could make.  I am pushing myself to see if I can do more.

So tonight I swam 2600 yards, that is the longest I have gone for a while.  I was slower on the 1K than I should have been, but I figure I will get that time down as I keep working on the yards.

I hope every gets better soon.

I was going over my logged laps and what I have for a training plan this morning, and I am going to have to do some adjusting. We are flying on 12/26 and 12/31 and I don't think any swimming will be possible on those days. Right now I am alomst exactly on pace, so I need to get a few days in with a couple of hundred extra yards to make sure nothing happens to prevent me from getting to the goal at the end. I think I figured out a way to do it, but I am going to be doing some double work outs with running and biking on the same day instead of swimming and running, like I usually do. Plus - it is hard to predict when and what days the pool will be open during the holidays. I think I will be better off to put in the extra laps now and not have to stress over it so much later.

You know it is too bad you feel that way about your swimming performance, but don't worry you will get better if you just keep swimming.

I got to the pool tonight, sort of made up for skipping last night.  I hadn't really decided what I was going to do, then I started with a 300 WU, and decided I would do 10 x 300.  Well then I changed the last one (2) to 1 600, but then I miscounted, and ended up swimming an extra 50.

That puts me at 11750 for the month.  So at 13/31 I am 58.75% complete.  Although I need to be pretty much done by the 22-23rd.  I am planning on swimming Sat, just have to figure a good workout.  But then the pool heater is broken, so it was a little brisk tonight.  I imagine by the time they get it fixed next week, I'll be wanting my wetsuit in the pool.  This could be great practice for my swim in late May.  My first tri for 2008 is an outdoor pool, water temp in the mid 60's.

Good morning Snowballers'

You are all doing great and keep up the good work. I am sorry I have been a little hard to find this week, after bing sick for a few days I have been on the move trying to get caught up at work and with my training and all the holiday stuff. I have been swimming however and will get another siwm in tomorrow. Have some Holiday stuff tonight so I am moving the swim to tomorrow.  You all have a good weekend and be careful out there in the crazy weather and the nutzy holiday drivers.

Well I had planned to swim today, but after the 5K I did, and fighting the snow/traffic home I decided to skip going back out for a swim.  I may try to swim Sunday, I figure I am "ahead" still, but not as far as I want to be.

Keep swimming everyone!

I got my swim in the chilly pool today.  77 degrees.... brrrrrr.  Heater is broken and should be fixed about tuesday.  Not that it will help for a couple days AFTER that, since I am sure it will take as many days to warm back up to normal as it did to cool off.

So I am up to 12,950 of 20,000 yards.  64.75%.  But that will show up for NEXT week.  (I think).

Keep up the great work!

Hi Guys.

I swam again today (surprise, surprise Wink)  So I'm up over 53,000 yards.  So I need to increase my goals again.  So the new goal is 75,000 (but I have a real reach goalWink).

As far as my background, yes, I was a swimmer in high school.  But I wasn't a good swimmer then- when I joined the swim team sophomore year, I couldn't actually swim with my face in the water (l figured it out on my own within a week).  By my senior year, I swam 100 yards in about 1:21 -not great but a huge improvement.   I started doing tris after college.  In my first race, the swim was canceled due to rough surf Yell   Even without a wetsuit and with only pool access in the summer(usually swimming about 600 yards at a time due to time issues), I did pretty well in the swim during my first two full years in the sport.  I finally started swimming regularly year round last January, but basically plateaued as swimming 2-3 times a week wasn't enough for me.  While my overall numbers look good for the year, so many things impacted my swim time this year and then I was lazy about how much I swam after Ironman(bad swim there for me).  I decided to start base training for next season Dec 1, and I have been swimming as much as possible this month- swim focus through January for me.

Keep it up guys!

8499 this week for a total 18008 of a 35000 goal. Missed Master's today due to the weather so I'm a few thousand behind my planned but all else fails I have nothing else to do after 21 Dec so I can swim more than just lunchtime and Sunday Master's.

Swam 1000 Yds on Saturday to get myself to 6100 for the month. As of Decmber 15th I am at 55.45% of my goal. I have 1000 tomorrow and then a couple of LSD swims scheduled for the week, so I should be good going into the holidays.

P.S> - the pool was extremely cold today. Not sure what that was about.

Chris,
I think I fixed your spreadsheet problem.  It looks like you were posting the totals for the month for this week.  It should only be the totals for this week.

Here is the revised spreadsheet.

Well I threw in another 2K night, only 5K more to finish my month.  But I think I need to do that this week.  I don't know if I can get any more real swims in after Saturday.

Hey everyone, here we are at day 19.  That means everyone should be well over the 50% mark for their goal for the month.  I know that you all have been swimming fiends of late.  Chris and I have been playing cat and mouse with each other over the past few days.  She just pulled ahead again last night, I was unable to get to the pool.  My boss had the managers meet him for dinner last night, so I was packing ON the pounds not taking them off.

Pool time tonight, will have to swim 3 more times before Saturday.  Keep up the great work team!

Well I finished out my yards for the challenge today.  Mainly since I will be traveling Sunday until Saturday.  I don't know if I can pick up any more yards, if I can I will.  Congrats team!

Merry Christmas!

Good morning Snowballers,

I hope that everyone is having a great Holiday weekend. I have finished my swimmming for the month. And have made my goal. I may get a few more swims in but the gym is closed a few days and with the holiday business I may not be able to get there even if they were open. I will however be biking, Cross-fitting and running. Everyone is doing well. Have a wonderful day and I'll be checking your logs either later today or first thing in the morning tomorrow to get your totals for the week/month so far.

Greetings fellow Snowballers. 13301 this week, bringing the total to 31309 out of 35000 for the month. No swimming on the 25th but otherwise will be swimming most days this week so will definitely do over so my total should help out anybody falling short. Happy holidays!

Did 1000 yards today bringing me 100 Yrads short of my goal. I chose not to complete the goal because then I would be tempted to not swim at all while traveling, and that would disappoint me in the long run. I also don't see the point of getting in the pool for just 100 yards, so I will probably do at least 1900 more in the two swims that I am scheduled for while in Alabama, so I will have some to give away if we need it.
