Not an amazing week, but not bad.  I'll take it.  I was watching after my friend's dog day and night from Thurs last week through yesterday morning while they were at the hospital giving birth.  Messed up my routine a good bit, but I think it was for a good cause.  Maybe that is why I felt so spry on the trail today.  Weighed in this morning and I was where I was last week.  No damage done I guess.  If I can make it through the winter without gaining weight, I'll be a happy man.  Summer is the easy time to slim down.

Hey Downers, hope you all had a great weekend.

Here's how my weekend went... Saturday at least.

The daughter and I ran the Frosty's 5K in Virginia Beach, VA.  Here's the results:
Daughter: Chip time = 38:41.  Overall place = 921 of 1791.  AG place = 22 of 67.  Of all females = 551 of 1229
Me:  Chip time = 38:41.  Overall place = 920.  AG place = 43 of 72.  Of all males = 370 of 562.

For Jocelyn, this was an awesome performance, especially for her first race ever.  Funny part is that I let her set the pace; I was kinda just along for the workout and the joy of running a race with my daughter.  She held onto a 12:29/mile pace while socializing with ANYONE WHO WOULD RESPOND TO HER (honestly, it was hilarious) and while zig-zagging ALL OVER 2 traffic lanes.  After all the zig-zagging we did, I'd swear it was more of a 6K than a 5K.  :-
For me, I felt like I could have held the pace ALL DAY LONG.  I honestly feel like I could have finished well in the top half had I run at my pace.

Jocelyn has already agreed to run the same race next year.  She insists, however, that she gets to run by herself at her own pace.  She's "mandated" that I run in the same race, but I have to run at my pace and leave her to her own devices.  :-)  I agreed... I think she'll be save... there were TONS of Law Enforcement around.

Love it!! So cool tl see her love the run early

Thanks, all, for the words of encouragement for myself with the gaughter.

Now, get ready to cheer, for this Clyde has set a milestone.  I just hopped on the scale.  Twice, actually.  First, in my uniform... 239#!!  I'M UNDER 240!!!!  Then, wearing a pair of socks, a tee shirt, boxer-briefs, and fight shorts... 231#!!!  OH YEAH, I'm only 6 pounds from my goal!!!

Now, I just need to keep up this s/b/r thing (which has been completely r for the last 1.5months).

Way to go, Jocelyn! And way to go, Speedknight! Get 'em running early!

I let my then 9-year old go her own pace at a local 5K (because she's too darn fast for me). It was a race I have done a gazillion times - well run and lots of volunteers and cops - and she did fine. (And beat me by a good 5+ minutes, the little booger.)

This is so true. The thing I've noticed most since losing 10.lbs over the summer is how much easier running feels.

I've noticed that too!  While out in Utah this summer, hubby asked me if I could imagine doing the running, etc. with a suitcase and I said no, why would I do that? He commented that is how mush weight I have lost!

!!Challenge!!!

I challenge all to go whole vegetarian for one full day.  I would further modify the term to cut out all processed foods including breads, and cheeses.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks nothing but fuits, veggies, and nuts.

I plan on completing this challenge tomorrow, so whose with me?

That is fairly close to my ususal day.  I'll just eliminate the cheese and breads and I am on it. Tomorrow, since today is over for me.

So you are saying vegan with no eggs/ dairy or are you saying lacto ovo vegetarian (or near egg substitutes)?

You are allowed to - IF - you pick one 20 miles away and ride your bike there to get it, eat it, then ride home.  (a variation of how I use to do DQ trips )

WATER CHALLENGE

Tomorrow is weigh in day - and the water challenge has been good to me in the past for this.

So - drink half you weight in ounces of water today - pro rate consumption if necessary since this might be late for you east coasters - or just catch up.  Speedknight - do what is wise for you - I am guessing you are on 24 hrs.

dont know whats going on. i havent even dropped one pound in three weeks.  really haven't been cheating at all.  the only thing i can figure is my body is fighting giving up the last few pounds, regulating itself to the new weight or i am gaining muscle and loosing fat.  going to go back and scroll through the scale and and see what my bf bmi ect.... are.

on the good note  looking back through garmin,  the last couple times, expecially cycling,  my hr came down about 15 bpm's.  i must have blown that clot that was blocking an artery.

challenge time

actually two,  easy ones.

1  post what you eat on an average day, doenst have to be amount specific, just what you eat.

2  post your playlist or at least the basics what do you listen to while running/ridding.

Geez!  I just read this now and have missed out on about 4 challenges.

1) eat only vegetarian - I started my day with strips of steak and an egg!!

2) drink 1/2 body weight in water - I think I had 3 glasses so far from what I should have

3) write down what you eat - funny that today is the one day I didn't!?

4) playlist - I'm LOVING Mumford & Sons today.

I'll try them all tomorrow.  Meat is hard as I'm doing paleo and I think I would be starving if I cut out all animal products but we'll see.
