WOW!!!!!

x2!  Looks like Jim is at least thru 21 miles & should be wrapping it up shortly as well.  Some great performances from our mentor group on what sounds like a pretty hot and nasty day.  Get those boys a couple of IV's ASAP!

Awesome...

IIRC, David was shooting for sub 12, and Jimmy sub 14.  If so, they both rocked their races.  Heck...they both rocked IMTX regardless of what their goals were.

Great job guys.

Fred put up a 2:15:xx today at Columbia.  Guessing the conditions were pretty good today, but in the past that would put him on, or very near, the podium for his AG.

That's a wicked fast time (and Columbia is a hilly bike course).  Nice job Fred!

Fred Doucette - 2011-05-22 1:11 PM Hey all, thanks! Dan and I had good races. He was under 2:10 and I was 2:15. Columbia is a very hilly bike and run course. And the bike is actually 41k not 40k. I spoke with Dan after and he seemed happy with his result. I was very pleased considering I trained full this week without taper. I had a very good bike and ran my best Columbia run ever. I still struggle to push the limits on the 10k run, something I can still work on will be back this evening sometime.

Congratulations on a great race! It's an excellent weekend for racing in this group!

Congrats Fred and Dan.  Those are some killer times for a tough course.  Agree though that the 40-44 AG seems to be the toughest.  It's the same way in the local races here.  There's a guy in 40-44 that consistantly finishes just outside or sometimes ahead of the elite men.

Had a great long run today.  I was really worried this morning as my last run (Thursday morning) was an epic failure...even at only 6 miles.  I chalked it up as just being "one of those days" and thank God it was.  Did about 14 miles this morning at my expected pace...maybe even a little faster.

Hay is in the barn as they say.  I have a hard ride coming up on Tuesday, but other than that, it's just a lot of short workouts to keep me "sharp" for June 4th.  This upcoming weekend will likely just be a 40ish mile ride and 8-10 mile run.

I'm going to be Debbie Downer I guess. My workouts have been really pathetic this whole weekend. I had a nasty ride into a 22 mph wind with 32 mph gusts today. The first 55 minutes were straight into the wind. Mentally I just quit. I could not get myself to try. Several times I felt like I was on my trainer, pedaling but not going anywhere! Very disappointing.

It is finally warmer here which I am so thankful for but it seems the older I get the harder time my body has adjusting to the heat. I actually had to stop and walk to catch my breath on my run the other day. My heart was racing out of control. It's allergy season here too so that doesn't help.

Just feeling discouraged because my race is getting closer but my fitness seems to be on the decline.

Dina...don't worry about that ride at all.  You've put in a lof of quality work up to this point so just forget about the weekend.  And the heat is hard on all of us this early in the season...that'll come around after a bunch of times training in it.  Keep your head up...you'll bounce back!
