mr2tony - 2008-10-14 10:49 AM What do I want for lunch. Anything with cheese on it sounds revolting right now. I'm thinking Chinese.

How 'bout cheese curds, since that doesn't have cheese "on" it.

Dude. I LOVE cheese curds. My grams and gramps (from Wisconsin Rapids way) used to bring me curds when I was a kid. Mmm ...

Never had 'em. Seen 'em - they always have them at the apple farms, etc, with the rest of the cheese. Sigh. I lof fall. I also lof maple cream and candies, but they're hard to find down here.

Compared to some of the things that have been in your mouth I'm surprised you'd even notice the taste or texture.

I will send it to you

I like my apple pie recipe (well, my dad's recipe). It's nothing special, but it's special cuz I make it And to me, it doesn't taste like any other apple pie out there.

Apples and extra-sharp cheddar are NOM. I would eat it all the time, if cheese wasn't so fattening. Whomever thought of low-fat cheese should be killed. Seriously. It's not worth eating if it's fat-free/low-fat.

Cool.

My dad has a great recipe for apple crisp.  I make that more often because it's easier than making pie crusts.

And, yes, low-fat cheese is evil.  It's just a waste of time.

Apple crisp,  yuuummmmmm

My dad used to make it like 2 or 3 times every week in the fall.  I was pretty sick of it for awhile.  It's been long enough that I miss it.  Maybe I'll make some this weekend.  I have to find some good apples.

That's applecrisp overload.  I make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I can't make it more often, becuase I'm the one that eats about 90% of it most of the time, and I don't need the temptation.

wurkit_gurl - 2008-10-14 8:45 AM I do keep fat-free cottage cheese around the house because it's a good bedtime snack. But really, it's not the same.

as I seem to recall, regular cottage cheese is not that bad to start with.  so I just get the regular.

My mom used to substitute cottage cheese for ricota cheese in lasagna when we were growing up poor(er).  Not a bad substitute...

Now that I'm filthy rich, I get the real stuff...

Really? I always figured the whole milk cottage cheese (that is like 4% milkfat) was the devil, because it's so tasty. So I never get it.

I could be wrong...  I haven't bought it in ages.  The wife does, and she is super consience about that kind of stuff.  Looking at the fat content of everything.  I think we get the 2%.

I buy the 2%.  I don't eat a ton of dairy and I can't stand the low-fat stuff.  I'd rather have dairy fat than some of the other kinds of fat.
